Straight, 3- or 4 -Knife Planers

Our 3- and 4-knife planers offer exceptional high-speed steel (HSS) knives that have been heat treated for hardness and wear resistance; HSS keeps a sharp edge longer than other carbon steels. These efficient planers offer between 15” and 20” planing capacity.

The exceptional quality of these machines is clear – key features include precision-ground cast-iron tables and extension wings, adjustable bed rollers, anti-kickback fingers, and a magnetic switch with thermal overload protection.

Helical Cutterhead Planers

The 4-row helical cutterhead contains up to 92 indexable inserts; these inserts can each be rotated three times to expose new, sharp cutting edges. The inserts sit at a slight angle to the workpiece for even shearing cuts, minimized tearout, and a smooth finish.

These models offer a maximum stock thickness of either 6-1/8” or 8”, and a 2-speed gearbox drives the adjustable bed rollers at either 16 or 28 feet-per-minute. Our helical cutterhead planers are ready for extended use in any woodshop!

Spiral Cutterhead Planers

Our spiral cutterhead planers start at 3 HP and go up to a 10 HP 3-phase industrial model, with the power you need to mill rough cut lumber all day long!

With four rows of spirals to smooth each board, these planers will provide the clean cuts and consistent results you need for every woodworking project.

Other valuable features that make these machines stand out include a four-column support with table locks, a segmented chip breaker, and feed rollers.

Benchtop Planers

These entry-level planers are lightweight and convenient to transport to any job site and are equipped with 2 HP so they are ready to support your woodworking projects.

Key features include cutterheads up to 10,000 RPM with a feed rate of 32 FPM, for the exceptional performance you need.

These efficient machines are also equipped with options such as handwheel depth adjustment, adjustable depth stops, and thermal overload protection. They are an affordable option for the beginner woodworker!

Update from 05/14/23 at the end!**I genuinely appreciate the Grizzly customer service & tech reps, who have been nothing but helpful & accomodating. As irritated as I am, they are high-quality people, & didn't design this thing.I bought this planer bc I wanted to 1) save money 2) get something durable, & 3) have accurate & uniform depth while planing vintage reclaimed wood. The first day, I chipped a blade. After only a month of regular use (I was sick, & didn't get to regularly use it for a while after I bought it.) the rollers gummed up so badly that no wood would go through. Customer service helped me see that I needed to clean the rollers & the gears.**They also said I needed a more powerful machine than the one I was using for vintage wood,** because the age of the wood made it so much harder. The blades chipped two more times. Now, to change these blades, you have to use this little wrench-like gauge that holds the knives at the appropriate depth, as you hand-tighten 8 different bolts w/an 8mm wrench, in a specific order. The depth gauge was broken when I ordered the thing.I ordered another one from Grizzly, & they sent me the wrong item.I ordered magnetic depth gauges from Amazon for $35, which did the trick. Also, it has no dust collection. I had to order a special dust hood for $50, & it didn't even line up to the machine's bolts correctly, or fit properly. I had to bend & fold a bit of the metal to make it work.Imagine my irritation when I found out that, for roughly the same price, I could have ordered a Dewalt w/built-in dust collection, that had a simple magnetic tool for changing blades! /facepalm.I asked Grizzly if I could trade this one in for a stronger model, since it was still in the year warranty, & they said no. Why? "Because for the work she does, she's going to need the 15" model w/the helical cutter."Now that was annoying AF. Why? Because I'd have much rather saved a bit longer & bought something more durable. There isn't some guide that says,"By the way, if you work w/vintage wood, this isn't for you. Get a helical head."We'd ALL love a 15" helical head machine, but until I upgrade both my space & my electrical box, it isn't going to happen. Now?I'm stuck making shallower cuts, on a machine that doesn't properly fit the attachments, & takes forever to change the blades that easily chip. I don't save time, money, or get more accuracy. This is frustrating as hell, so save your money for a larger model, or get a Dewalt.UPDATE:I had to plane over 90 reclaimed teak boards this week. In addition to everything I mentioned above, I had to keep one hand on the knob the *entire time*, to keep the blades from rising. 🙄 This addedhours to my work time, & I cannot wait to get rid of this thing.
