Nice little heater
I live in WY, and this thing is pretty nice. Not so big that you have to hardwire it, but still big enough to keep a 2-car garage bearable when it’s snowing and blowing outside.

I purchased this heater as it is one of the few 220-Volt heaters that only requires a 20 amp circuit. Additionally, the heater came pre-terminated with a NEMA 6-20 plug. The unit is very compact at less than 11" x 10" x 11" cubed not including the buffer space required for installation. I found this heater put out so much heat and circulated the air in my shop (20' x 20') that I often had to turn the heater off in mild temperatures, such as 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Thermostat adjusts from 45 degrees to 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

While unfortunately made in China, the heater fan moves a very considerable amount of air where you cannot put anything easily damaged by heat, such as plastic, within five feet in front of the unit. You can use the heater with the wall mount bracket or on a bench top, as the bottom and top of the heater never get dangerously hot, when you allow the heater to cycle itself off afterwards, where it operates as a fan only as it cools down. As a bonus side effect, when saw dust settles on top of the heater, it never burns or smokes.

The first unit I received was very loud, where it had a rattle. At first I thought this might be normal, judged by other views. However, I contacted Dimplex support, who emailed me back two business days later stating that this was not normal. They suggested I exchange it through Amazon, which I did. The second unit I received runs perfectly and is extremely quiet for a heater of its magnitude. The rattle appears to be excessive vibration caused by the fan bearing, where you can observe a wobble. The new unit does not exhibit this behavior.

See the customer images for a front and rear comparison of the Dimplex DGWH4031 along with the supplied power cable. The mounting bracket, while included, is not pictured. Finally, setup is a breeze and the heater burn in is extremely short, putting out very little odor. With an stainless steel element and all steel construction, this might be the best shop heater you can buy dollar for dollar.

I had been shopping for an affordable garage heater for some time, and I decided that this heater fit the bill. [...]

Although I was confused by the substitution, I was happy with the price difference and once the heater arrived, I was unable to find any differences between the Oullet model I received and this Dimplex model that I ordered, other than the color. The pictures and specs all appear to be exactly the same. Since it's in my garage and being a Buckeye fan I like anything scarlet, I was happy with the red color and decided to keep and install the heater.

Most reviews I've read on both models complain about the noise level. Well, when I removed the heater from the box it came in, I blew on the fan to see if it rattled or anything, and noticed that one of the blades clipped the electric motor while turning. I simply removed the metal cage, bent the offending blade ever so slightly so it no longer contacted the motor, and re-installed the cage. Easy, but definitely something worth checking before you install it.

This heater requires a 220v outlet (see pictures of what the plug looks like) and since I did not have one in my garage already, I had to install one which I'd never done before. I needed 50 feet of wire, a dual pole 20 amp breaker, various pieces of conduit, a receptacle and a couple of junction boxes. I got pretty fancy with the receptacle (added a weatherproof plate over the receptacle, etc) and total cost to wire up the new outlet was about $70. You can certainly do it cheaper than I did, but be advised if you need a 220v outlet, it will add to the cost of installing this heater.

I hung the heater on the wall using the included bracket, but it came with no screws to attach it to the wall. I went to the hardware store and bought two lag screws, and screwed it right into a stud. VERY sturdy installation, I could probably hang on the bracket if I wanted to.

This heater really pushes a ton of warm air. It is a bit noisy, but the fan blows really hard so I can't really see how it could be any quieter and push as much air as it does. It has a nice dial-type thermostat on the back. It doesn't have a certain temperature that you can set it to, but you can just turn it on until it's as warm as you want it in the garage, then twist the dial until it clicks off. Then, it will click back on and regulate the temperature.

I haven't tested it yet on a really cold day to see how long it takes to raise the temp, but I can tell you that with as much air as it moves, I'm confident it will work great. I'll update this review once I try it in really cold weather.

Overall, I'm very satisfied, but just be advised, if the price drops about $50 and the heater ships from Northern Tool, there's a good chance you'll receive the red Oullet model. But it's a great heater and you'll save $50, so for me it was a win-win!

works great using in three car garage
Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2022
The unit is attractive and well made. Having an included cord is a nice advantage over other 240V models which require hardwiring. Mine makes a little rattle when the fan starts up, but is quiet when it's up and running - just the hum of the fan. It throws a good amount of heat. It had my insulated attached two car garage up to 70 F in the center and over 50 F in the far corner away from the heater within a couple hours on a windy low 20's F evening. It's also pretty compact so not difficult to find a good place to mount it.

Just a heads up: it does not include mounting hardware to attach the bracket to the wall. I ended up using some 5/16" lag bolts and that was plenty strong for it. The heater is pretty light (~ 12 lbs).

I bought 3 of these, and two of them had serious problems. One of them was a total disaster waiting to happen. When first turned on, it would all function properly, heater element and fan. After several minutes the fan would stop, but the element would retain power to a full hot level and the overheat circuit would not engage. Neat little heaters, but some of the heat sensors and switches do not function. I sent back two of them, the third is working but I would never leave one of these plugged in and on if I was not present at ALL times. I would rate these a fire hazard in a big way. These should all be recalled. The second one I returned had a faulty fan delay. The element cooling delay function was bad so it would never stop, it just cylcled heat with fan on, off, heat with fan on, off etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good heater / thermostat could be more accurate
Reviewed in Canada on December 20, 2021
I spent decent amount of time choosing a proper garage heater. The ceiling options din't work in my situation cause I have suspended ceilings and also wanted a heat source pointing towards the garage door.
This one does a good job heating up my garage quickly after opening the garage door. 4k watts is more than enough for my insulated garage of 280 sq ft. (I used 12 watts per sq.ft + extra just in case).
It can be mounted to the wall or the ceiling which I really like. It also comes with mounting screws for wooded studs.
On a cold start it does take 1-2 minutes to warm up to full heat.
One of the disadvantages is the theromostat. I am not sure how accurate it is. Also it is impossible to set specific temperature, you will have to heat your room to the desired level and then dial it down until it "clicks" to maintain that temperature. Also not sure how the thermostat will behave when the power comes back after an outage. Overall, it keeps the necessary temperature so far.
Overall, I am satisfied, good value for the price.

Heats up the 2 car garage in reasonable time and fan blows good amount of air. The heating coil looks like burner on older electric stoves so it think it will last.

I don't have 240 directly in my garage but even still this is costs effective since was able to use an adapter + extension cord from the Dryer plug in mudroom (attached garage). If end up moving can take this with me 10 minutes to unmount and pack up.

Here's the cord and adapter using:
AC WORKS Heavy Duty Durable Extension Cord (25FT NEMA 6-20 20A 250V)

AC WORKS 30 Amp 4-Prong Dryer Wall Outlet Adapter (To Household 15/20A Oulet)

- Well made
- Heats a 500sqf insulated workshop to room temp - outside temp 32 deg f
- Easy to install
- Quiet
- uses a 20A/240V outlet

It has a basic thermostat, which works, but would be great if it had temperature settings.
I would buy again.

I bought this a month ago. Also bought a 20 amp power outlet and had an electrician install everything as I wasn't sure how to do it. The unit itself comes ready to be plugged in. It's a little heater and I wasn't sure how great a job it would do. My garage is 15' x 30'. Once it was installed, I put it at the lowest setting. I just didn't want the garage freezing. The heater has maintained the temperature above freezing, even when the temperature outside was -22 Celsius (with a wind chill of -30 Celsius. I could keep the garage warmer by simply turning the dial up (and I tried that and it works!!), but I don't want to waste electricity -- just want to keep the garage from freezing and feeling damp. Great heater!! Very pleased with this purchase.

Great little heater for the price, takes the chill out of my 10x20 shed well. Haven't tried out in the winter yet but I'm sure it will do fine. Elements rattle a little bit when it's running
