MS-4021B
The MS-4021B has a nice looking, easy-to-read, red-LED digital display (not LCD as in the Product Description) and can measure tire pressure from 5 to 150 psi. The gauge is very straight forward and is easy to use. I find the grip of the gauge a bit awkward and it is the reason for the four-star rating.
The statement in the Product Description “What's more, the included lithium battery will never need to be recharged or replaced.” is not accurate. The back of the package card indicates the gauge uses three replaceable LR44 batteries and provides instructions on how to replace them (and as one reviewer mentioned there is also a CR2032 battery under the LED display that is not supposed to be replaced by the consumer). That means once the CR2032 battery is depleted, the gauge is trash.
MS-4350B
The MS-430B gauge has a blue-backlit LCD digital display and can measure tire pressure from 5 to 99 psi (less than the 150 psi the MS-4021B can measure).
This gauge uses 2 replaceable CR2032 batteries. (I don’t know if there is one under the display like in the MS-4021B.)
The grip design is very nice with a place for me to place my thumb and press the gauge into the tire valve stem. I would not measure the air pressure as depicted in one of the product pictures (where the man is holding the gauge underhanded, against the tire’s valve stem). I put my thumb on the three horizontal lines above the flashlight button (round button in the center).
The gauge can be set to remember the recommended tire pressure but I don’t find that feature useful. I can remember the tire pressure for both front and back tires is supposed to be 33 psi and if I can’t it’s in the door jamb.
The MS-4350B has these features the MS-4021B does not have:
Ability to set recommended tire pressure for front and back tires.
A beep sound when tire pressure has been read.
One LED flashlight
Tire Pressure Readings
When measuring the tire air pressure, I had no trouble with getting good seal with both gauges. The readings were very close, with only one-half pound difference. The MS-4350B read 33.5 psi and the MS-4021B read 33 psi.
Both displays are easy to read, one is red LED and the other is backlit LCD. LED displays tend to be more power hungry than LCD displays.
Final Thoughts
I’m not sure how significant a one-half pound difference is; I like both gauges. I can recommend both but I prefer the MS-4350B. The MS-4350B has the grip and feel I like and it uses replaceable CR2032 batteries. I like the idea of the one-LED flashlight but I’m not sure how useful that will be…but I still like that it’s there.
Both are made in China.
Just a comment about the packaging: The MS-4350B is packaged in a sealed plastic and I had to use a box cutter to open it effectively eliminating the possibility of using it to store the gauge and instruction pamphlet when not in use. I really don’t like this type of packaging.
I couldn't remember the brand or where I had purchased it. I ordered a few different gauges to replace the lost one, but they were all inconsistent in their readings.
Around 6 months ago, I found my lost gauge & I went into Amazon to see if I could look up the brand. Found it (just different color) & bought a few.
Haven't done thorough testing of accuracy, but if it is built as well as my original, a no-brainier for 5*.
For what is worth, before I lost my original, while filling up a tire at a gas station, an older man asked me if I needed a tire gauge & he held out an old mechanical. I showed him my gauge & he told me he doesn't like digital gauges because they are inaccurate. I measured my tire pressure with his then mine, and when they matched, he was quite impressed.
Would highly recommend!
A new tire gauge should not have its battery wear out after one use and two months in the glove box. I messaged the company at their phone number on the back of the package. They ignored me for 10 days and then proceeded to tell me that batteries are my responsibility. I was future put on the defensive by being told “We’ll replace them just this one time but don’t ask again.” This attitude is absolutely unacceptable, Accutire. When I started researching other reviews I know see this is common. Some even arrive DOA. The guy at the company insisted that my thermometer must have a tiny on button. It does not. I then learned the company added one since their thermometers drain when not in use. Sadly, a HUGE avoid with rude and slow customer service, too.
Original review: Accutire vs. Milton vs. Vondior: Which is the best tire gauge?
I’m comparing these three since Accutire and Milton are the top two models recommended by Popular Mechanics. The Accutire is also highly acclaimed at the top of Consumer Reports ratings. Vondior consistency receives top ratings here at Amazon. I’m tired of inaccurate gauges and I don’t personally are if it’s digital or an old school pen. Tires are beyond expensive these days and for safety and longevity, you need to get it right! Read on to learn which is best:
I’d call this a tire tie between Accutire and Vondier. The Accutire can wash out a bit in sunlight but I love its no nonsense design and consistency. For ease of use, it’s my favorite. One big plus for the Vondier design is that there is no battery needed. It is a simple joy to use and it glows in the dark. The Milton gauge is poorly printed and difficult to read although it is quite consistent. Both the Accutire and Vondior are five star totally tubular tire winners. By the way, the majority of tire gauges are not accurate so choose carefully.
