This was not square when it came. The rule was straight, and the surfaces on the handle were flat, but the square was not square. I got a small file and filed the little ridge in the throat until the rule was square to the handle.
Oh yeah, it has a level built into the handle, although it doesn't mention it on the package. I didn't check it, because I would have had to find something that I was sure was level, and I didn't want to since I'm pretty sure that when I need a level, I will get a level. It also has a scribe threaded into the handle. I checked it to make sure that it would come out and go back in. It did, and quite smoothly, but it's something else I don't think I'm going to use.
Now I just have to be careful not to drop it.
It's well made, and very cheap, and i didn't expect it to be perfectly square, so I gave it five stars.
