Product Description

Precise Swiss-Quartz movement Mineral crystal Case diameter: 43 mm Polyurethane case; Black dial; Date function Water-resistant to 660 feet (200 M)

Prized for its durability and unique illumination system, the Luminox Original Navy SEAL Series 1 stainless steel men's watch exudes confidence and power whenever it's worn. Thanks to the vaunted Luminox self-powered illumination system, this watch's hands and dial markers glow 100 times brighter than other luminous watches and will provide continuous illumination for more than 25 years. It's also water resistant to 200 meters (20 ATM, 660 feet), which is suitable for recreational scuba diving.

The large, black-plated stainless steel watch case--measuring 1.7 inches wide and 0.4 inches thick--is topped by a ratcheting, unidirectional rotating bezel with engraved 5-minute Arabic numerals in white and coin-edged detailing for an improved grip. The black dial face is accented by white Arabic numeral markers, large white baton hands (with seconds hand), and a date function at 3 o'clock. It's completed by a comfortable polyurethane (PU) diver's strap in black. Other features include a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, multi-jeweled Swiss quartz watch movement, double gasket crown, and 4-year battery life. It's backed by a 1-year Luminox warranty.

Luminox Self-Powered Illumination System
Each Luminox watch employs tiny self-powered micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules), which are firmly embedded in the hands and the hour indicators on the watch face (as well as on the turning ring of diver's watches). Luminox watches need no external light source to "charge" the paint on the dial or hands in order to glow as do conventional luminous watches, nor do they require a push of a button to light the dial as do electro luminescent watches.

About Luminox
Luminox combines the finest tradition and precision of Swiss watchmaking with the durability demanded by US armed forces and the latest innovations in timepiece technology. The company pioneered the development of small, individual luminescent tracer lamps and was contacted by the U.S. Navy SEAL teams to build a dive watch for their use on night missions. After their popularity in the Navy grew, the Air Force asked Luminox to develop a watch specifically for F-117 Nighthawk Stealth pilots.

NATO Strap Installed(Now 7th Year Update)
Initially, I was afraid to buy this watch. It's the Navy SEAL watch, and while I loved the design, it had some mixed reviews, especially in regards to durability & lack of factory warranty(when not purchased from authorized dealers). However, when I saw that this watch came with 2-year warranty offer from Amazon, I had to get it.I've had this watch for just two weeks, so this review is a work in progress(I always update my reviews as necessary). So far, the watch looks great & it's been a real accurate watch(closely monitored, down to a second). I'm always reckless with items like these, but it's yet to pick up a scratch. It looks durable enough with the exception of the crystal. I'm used to my G-Shock crystal being recessed to save it from impact, but it actually sticks out slightly on this watch. It looks great, but in my opinion, questionable design for watch that's marketed on toughness.Only "con": Even before I ordered this watch, I wasn't feeling its cheap looking rubber strap. When I received it, I thought its really soft texture was kind of nice - until I found out that friction often made it hard to insert the strap into the loop. I have replaced it with the 22mm Zulu Military strap(NATO style) & I am now in love with this watch.Edit(2 Months): I started monitoring time accuracy using the time.gov website, and in close to two months, it has gained roughly 5 seconds. I can live with that. Also, I have encountered zero problem with this watch, nor the NATO strap I also purchased on Amazon.Edit(6 Months): It has now gained roughly 26 seconds going by time.gov website. I feel horrible for not ever wearing other watches I own. With the blacked out NATO strap, I just love this watch & I never go outside without it on my wrist. ;)Edit(One Year): I only wear this watch casually(also own Mudman G-Shock for the abuse), but it still seems to keep very accurate time &I still don't wear any other watches. This one turned out to be one of my all-time favorites. :)Edit(Third Year): Same, same. I wear this watch almost daily, but for outdoors, I still wear my Casio Mudman. This Luminox is still my favorite though, and it is still ticking perfectly & accurately. I haven't had to change the battery in it yet!Edit(Year 4): It was working perfectly until just couple of days ago. I got this watch January of 2015 according to Amazon & the battery has finally died 4 years later. I was going to take this to a watch shop to have battery replaced, but from what I've seen on Youtube, it seems very doable. According to my research, battery model is #371. Wish me luck! **Another Edit - I ended up paying to have local watch shop replace the battery. It was $18 installed & I think he said he lubed the gasket or something like that.Edit(Year 6): So after the last "edit", when I had the battery replaced, watch died shortly after..... I didn't have complete faith in the watch shop guy who replaced it, so I got a new battery off eBay & replaced it again myself. Well. Something like 2 years later, watch's still working PERFECTLY & I wear it daily.I bought another Luminox while back with larger dial & orange highlights(forget the model#), but I sold it, because I never wore it. Love this model. :)Edit(Year 7): Last April, I finally replaced this watch with a Garmin Instinct Tactical Solar. It was fine. Many cool features... but I wasn't totally happy with its solar capabilities, also got bored with it & sold it. Something like 9 months later, I took out my Luminox Navy SEAL watch again, but it was off by several hours! It was disappointing, but I re-set the time & it was keeping very accurate time, so I started wearing it again daily. However, about a week or so later, I noticed that it had lost like couple minutes somehow. Bummer. Watch still looks great & I still adore the design.I think I might research cleaning/lubing or repairing this watch somehow, but it is probably done. Again. Six years is more than what I hoped for & it's still my all-time favorite watch. As for its replacement dailywear, it is undecided. Leaning towards Casio or a smartwatch. ;)

I was pretty excited when my luminox arrived! Watch is clean, not too big and rugged as hell. Super light weight, tough and has a constant lume glow! My Rolex and omega only last 15-20min. This watch has been out of the sun for 6 hours and still glows. The only thing I will change is the strap to a nato. The strap it comes with is great, but a little big for my liking. Other than that.. love it!
