Customers like the performance of the humidifier. They say it works better than hot water humidifiers, is amazing, and fine to use. The filter is very effective and can be rinsed out once and reused. It is very quiet as long as you have it on low or medium, and can keep up well with the sudden bitter cold snaps that come through. Customers also say it was the best buy for the money when they purchased it.

"...Most are rated for 5 amps or more, and they are also fine to use, with no upper limit...." Read more

"...So, how much does it work for my application? It works great...." Read more

"...tradeoffs between ultrasonic and evaporative humidifiers, and very reasonably priced for the amount of square feet it can humidify...." Read more

"...I am still using the same filter the unit came with and it appears to be working fine...." Read more

Customers like the humidity of the product. They mention that it produces more humidity throughout their entire 1100 square foot home, it puts out a very good amount of moisture, and it has a much greater capacity for delivering humidity compared to others they've used. It also seems to be helping the dry air upstairs. It's very quiet, and the built in humidity control is a nice feature.

Customers are mixed about the noise of the product. Some mention that it is comparatively quiet, while others say that it makes a lot of noise. The fan itself creates an uneven sound, and the vibrations can turn into a humming nightmare.

Customers are mixed about the filling of the water tanks. Some mention that it's easy to fill up, convenient, and simple to refill. However, others say that it needs filling too often, the reservoirs can be awkward to fill, and the canisters need filling several times.

"...Speaking of the tanks, it's ill designed but still manageable when filling. It's just derpy while filling in the sink and awkward to carry...." Read more

"...To sum up: It’s expensive to run, awkward to fill and clean, a bit noisy, but amazingly good at quickly throwing humidity into the air...." Read more

"...The two reservoir tanks make it very convenient when filling because since you can leave one in place on the humidifier you do not have to turn it..." Read more

"...So filling has become more of a pain again...." Read more

354 customers mention124 positive230 negative

Customers are mixed about the durability of the product. Some mention that it's built well, the handles are sturdy, and the overall quality seems good. However, others say that the tanks are very brittle and will break if bumped or dropped.

"...dimensions of the unit (large filter and water tanks), the quality of its fan and motor and the simple and logical overall design i feel that for..." Read more

Customers are mixed about the appearance of the product. Some mention that it is a very nice-looking unit, and doesn't take up a lot of space. They like that the design of the tanks is really good, and simple. However, others say that it's a poor design, especially for women. They also mention that the water containers are just poorly designed, ugly as all get out, and have weird engineering/design flaws.

"...It's only a drip or two. Speaking of the tanks, it's ill designed but still manageable when filling...." Read more

"...but it gives me peace of mind about germs and it keeps the unit looking brand new...." Read more

"...Am pleased that way. Another weird engineering/design flaw ... the "lids" on the reservoir tanks have a rubber-ish seal and will leak unless..." Read more

Customers are mixed about the ease of setup. Some mention that it's quick and easy to use, and completely manageable. However, others say that it is clumsy and cumbersome. They also say that the containers are awkward to handle once filled and that it can be difficult to fill the tanks.

"...no better than a smaller unit of less than half the price, and takes up more space and looks ugly - and still has the minor annoyances mentioned..." Read more

Excellent Humidifier for the price!

Excellent Humidifier for the price!
This humidifier was recommended to me by a co-worker and I'm very pleased with it. Setup was very easy, and operation is a snap! Forced air heating systems will strip the moisture out of the air, and the colder it gets, the more the furnace runs and the lower the humidity. During a recent cold snap (temps down below 10 degrees Fahrenheit), prior to getting this product, the humidity in my apartment (about 1200 square feet, two bedroom, two bath) was hovering around 14%. My cats would nearly burst into flames if they rubbed against each other on the carpet! After setting the humidifier up and running it on high for about 24 hours, the humidity got to around 37 to 40%. At that point, I turned the humidistat down until the unit clicked off, and set the fan to medium. This easily kept the apartment between 35% and 38%. All I change normally is the fan - as it warms up a bit, I turn the fan down to low. As it gets colder and the humidity starts to drop, I put it back up on medium. With the outdoor temp between 23 and 28 degrees, I can run the humidifier on low and it will easily maintain 35 to 37% and get 12 to 18 hours on a water fill.A couple of other things. Another reviewer mentioned that she flips the filter over every time she refills the water containers. I absolutely agree with her - this is a must if you don't want to spend a fortune on the filters. If you don't flip it over, after only a day or two, it will develop a lot of crusty minerals along the top of the filter. Flipping it over regularly seems to prevent this or greatly reduce it. That crust will also reduce the effectiveness of your humidifier, so flipping end-to-end is a great idea to extend it's life! One hint - you don't have to remove the water containers to flip the filter - the design of this system is very good! Just lift the main part off (it weighs less than 5 lbs - less than a full water tank), set it to the side (It won't really wet your floor - the water is all retained in the base of the unit, not in the top), and flip the filter over, then set the top back in place. There are no screws or latches. It just sits on top of the base against the water tanks. Ingenious design! I've attached some pictures showing 1) the complete unit, 2) one of the water tanks removed (I'm holding it just above the unit for reference), 3) what it looks like if you take the main section off to flip the filter, and 4) the control panel. Again, for reference, you can see that the settings on my panel are nearly all the way down on the humidistat (on the left) and on the lowest fan setting on the right. It's about 27 degrees outside and about 69 inside with an inside humidity of about 36%. I've included a picture of my little indoor weather station for your reference. Also, I purchased the Holmes Humidifier Bacteriostat, H1709PDQ-U and add a capful to each container of water. I suggest something like this to keep bacteria and slime from forming on the interior of the machine.I am very happy with this product and would gladly recommend it to anyone who needs to humidify a modest area. It's a solid machine at a good price!
