The weakest part of both brushes is the "handle".
The Denman's handle is a larger loop that fits over 3 or 4 fingers and is attached with pointed pegs at each end of the handle that click into small holes on the brush. If you use the brush with any vigor the handle pops off but it can be popped back on -- at least until the pegs and holes start to wear and get loose.
The 100 Century brush has a smaller loop that fits over 1 finger. It is fused onto the brush and is more sturdy and stays on longer. But with continued vigourous use, it too snaps off eventually and there is no effective way to reattach it.
For the Denman Be-Bop, the manufacturer says "Do not immerse in hot water or use with a hair dryer." It's probably a good idea to avoid high heat with either brush.
Overall the Denman and 100 Century brush are quite similar, but I a have a slight preference for the 100 Century brush.
Disappointed. 2 stars down compared to previous 5 star quality.
These are a hair must for all hair lengths, types (brittle/chem processed too); extremely durable!
For years & only minimal perimeter “bristle” loss, it’s kept my sensitive scalp happy & normally oily hair (dry ends!) so clean w/o irritation, hair loss, stressing fragile wet hair —plus —zero maintenance (quick rinse to keep clean).
It’s promoted incredible hair growth, thickness throughout the years so much (increased root touchups, hair trims).
So yes, I have several —a spare too & I probably bought the last one sold here at a premium compared to my still working original.
This brush is made of soft and flexible plastic that conforms to the shape of my hand. I have rather small hands, and I find it fits best if I slip my pinkie out of the handle and control the pressure with my thumb on the opposite side of the brush. Larger hands may find it more comfortable having their pinkie and their index finger outside the handle.
It feels SO GOOD on my scalp. I don't know how much truth there is behind 'scalp massages really make your hair grow faster and thicker', I haven't looked into the science, and am still a little skeptical, but oh my gosh does it feel good. It feels so good.
I had no idea how many LAYERS my hair had. I also had no idea how THIRSTY my hair was; I went through half a 1.5 liter spray bottle and still had a lot of dry patches while I was detangling for the first time.
I don't use any products yet but if you only get to choose one (1) item to begin your hair repair journey with, this should be it.
