Product Description
The eVent Compression Drysack earned a Backpacker Editors' Choice Award in 2007, and there is no question that it's still a winner today.
Made from a sturdy 70D Nylon waterproof fabric in the body and lid, with an eVent waterproof but air-permeable base that allows air to be pushed out of the sack. No need for a purge valve, making these lighter and simpler. The four compression straps, use hypalon roll-top non-wicking closure. These dry sacks are the epitome of durability, versatility, and compression.
Waterproofness
The eVent Compression Dry Sacs are rated to 10,000mm hydrostatic head – more than sufficient water protection for paddle use (avoid full submersion.) There is no need to worry about your contents getting wet, so when you get to camp, you can get into a cozy jacket, blanket, or sleeping bag.
Durability
These compression bags are ideal for backpacking, bike packing, camping, and sea kayaking, but avoid pointed gravel and other sharp objects. Super tough, super pliable, high thread-count 70 Denier fabrics and it's white visible color make it easy to find in your bag.

Everyone who thru hikes need to get one of these for this clothing. To know your clothes will always be dry is a great feeling to have out there. Plus they take up so much less space in your bag too!!
I highly recommend this brand, see it being used: Megan S. Hiking with a purpose, on youtube.i am.going to order a 2nd for my son who hike with me.
In the picture you can see a compressed 20L (Large) sack on the bottom (it could be compressed more, but that would make it wider/fatter and wouldn't fit as well in my backpack). The ruler is 1 foot (30.5 cm). To give another sense of the dimensions, on the top left is a packable Patagonia down jacket (black) top right is a Patagonia rain jacket (red). So the Large sack ended up just over 1 foot tall and about 9 inches (23 cm) wide.
In the compression sack:
2 quick-dry t-shirts
1 pr. convertible hiking pants
2 pr. wool socks
2 pr. sock liners
2 pr. underwear
Rain pants
thermal top
thermal bottom
gloves
wool hat
sleep shirt
sleep shorts
polarfleece jacket
sleeping bag liner

Overview:
Pros:
-Can compress to a very small size
-The stitching is strong and seems well constructed
-It keeps items inside water proof (so far I have only tested it while the sack was out in the rain)
-It is easy to remove any trapped air from the sack
-Durable, the material is thick and resilient to scratches from brush, twigs and falling on the ground
Cons:
-Price, but most well made dry sacks will set you back a good amount for your money
-Heavier than the Ultra-Sil compression dry sack by Sea to Summit
-It can take some practice to put the straps on correctly in the dark
Overall: I would recommend this to keep some of your important backpacking equipment dry, specifically your sleeping bag and clothes. But if you either want to save some weight and/or don't want to shell out the amount of cash a good alternative is some trash bags if you don't need to compress your contents too much.
The eVent bags are lighter weight and they compressed smaller than the vinyl bags we had been using. This allowed us to pack personal gear for four guys into one backpack and eliminated one back pack from our equipment.
Included in my eVent compression sack was 3 shirts, 2-shorts, 1 pair pants, fleece jacket, camp towel, camp shoes, sleeping bag, and polypro undershirt/pants. The bag when compressed was 1/2 its original size. (All clothing items were polyester/nylon - no cotton. Sleeping bag was a 20 degree rated polyfil mummy bag)
We encountered a late night early morning rainstorm with high winds on our latest trip. My eVent bag was exposed in the downpour for about 6 hours. Everything inside remained completely dry.
The other feature we really appreciated about these bags is that they do not get stuck in the backpack like the vinyl bags did. Easy in - easy out!
The one Con I do need to mention is that these bags are not as durable as the vinyl bags and are more prone to being punctured. Be careful if you are leaving these laying out in the bottom of your canoe or raft.
