There's not anything more than meets the eye with this product. It's a giant metal stick that destroys ice. Love it.
You might want to wear it with gloves as where I live in Colorado, the ice after a storm can get 3-4 inches thick, and it can probably lead to blisters since there's no "comfort" feature (because it's an aforementioned giant metal stick).
But as long as you start from the outside of the ice (closest to wear it starts to get thin and fade into the concrete, smash it parallel with the ice-line maybe 6 inches away from the edge, and repeat as you work your way closer and closer towards the middle of the ice, the ice will shatter pretty easily and you'll make quick work of it. I cleared a 15 foot long, 3 inch thick, 3 foot wide patch of ice in about 10 minutes. Would've cut that time in half had I gone into it knowing the right technique.
Used this to clear thin ice as well as pretty thick ice patches after we had a day in the 50s with heavy rains, followed by a couple of single digit nights and sunny, 20s days. Most of the ice got scraped easily off the concrete driveway and paths, with very little effort in pushing. Some more stubborn and thick patches needed some pounding to loosen them up. So far, probably most every scrapper would work about the same. And for this easy ice the only disadvantage of this scrapper is that it's relativity narrow, requiring more passes to scrape large areas.
And then I came to tackle the melted snowmen that the kids have built on the edge of the driveway. These snowmen didn't fare well with the aforementioned rain, and worse yet got run over quite a few times when entering and exiting the garage, really compacting the snow. The ice there reached well over 4 inches in thickness of well compacted ice that was stubbornly hanging on to the rough (broomed texture) concrete of the driveway. Some energetic pounding later, the ice was in pieces and the scraper looked none the worse for wear.Same story with another compacted patch on the corner of the driveway where it meets the road, where the city snowplowed drifts got run over every time a car entered or exited the driveway. For this type of ice the narrower blade of this scraper helped in concentrating the force to a smaller ice patch, making the job easier.
It's now 2014. We had a blizzard and deep freeze (like everyone across the country). I had a huge pile of frozen ice that needed to be removed from the driveway. Without thinking, I grabbed my old wooden ice chopper and went to work. It was like working with a toothpick. Anyway, I'm working up a sweat and chopping the ice when the blade snaps completely off the wooden handle. Then I remembered the Bully Tool Ice Chopper. It was going through the ice like butter and/or chopping a head of lettuce. I was in awe. I completed the job in no time without breaking a sweat. What a wonderful piece of equipment. I just thought an ice chopper was an ice chopper - wrong. So I felt obligated to write this review. In 2011, I paid $20.00. In 2014 it's now selling for $32.00. I'm glad I purchased it when I did. But if I ever needed an ice chopper I'd buy the Bully Tool 92200 without hesitation.
