As I’m writing this review I realize when I ordered this thing I didn’t realize it was a Pachmayr. Probably because it was so inexpensive and I just I didn’t notice but they make pretty good stuff usually.I don’t get to use the stock on my shotgun that I would like. I have to make a compromise for functionality and portability. So I have a very stiff collapsible arm style stock that is a very unusual size and quite frankly it hurts. It started getting to the point where I didn’t want to use it Unless I was using the 1 3/4” mini shells and those are almost impossible to find now.There’s some very popular products in the market but I couldn’t get them to fit on the unusual end of the stock that I use. It’s a fold out but stock that is wider than most. I actually tied a block of firm on the end of it one time and tried that out and it felt a lot better so I knew I had to come up with some kind of solution. I found this and it was very reasonably priced and I was pretty much sure it wasn’t gonna work out. This thing is shaped like a traditional stock and I just didn’t think it was gonna fit. But because it came in three sizes I ordered the largest one and figured I would give it a try. Much to my surprise it worked amazingly. The opening is large enough that I can see that on the end of my stock and it stays secure while I’m using the gun.It looks like it has several different types of honeycomb / baffle structure in their design to absorb the shock and it’s surprisingly effective. Even with 3 inch shells this thing will save your shoulder. I sometimes go shoot with a lady friend of mine who is not a very big person and the one time she tried to use a 12 gauge the results were both frightening and comical. She can actually fire slugs using this. It’s still not her favorite thing but this makes the difference between being able to use it or not at all.One other thing that’s a little bit funny is that my laser fits perfectly inside of the shock absorber. So when I’m not using it I put the laser inside of the cover to protect it while it’s in the scabbard pouch.Pretty amazing for twenty bucks.

Simple to install, looks good, stops rifle from slipping when leaning on the floor.
It does not add much length to the pull.
The slight problem is 10/22 carbine rifle butts have a curve, this butt pad is straight so at the curve there is no contact with the butt pad. Not sure if I’ll keep it yet, but it stops the rifle from slipping so we’ll see.

Works very well, I only gave 4 out of 5 because of fit on my particular setup. Specifically a portion of the part that grips the stock hangs over the open area of the stock I am using. On a more traditional setup (like a stock 870) I am sure this would not be an issue. Other than that if is nice and comfy, removes a good amount of the "sting" from a 12 gauge. I basically got this so my wife would not be afraid to shoot our 12 gauge, and I think it does a good job for that purpose. Its solid rubber so I see it lasting a long time as well where others might wear out. One thing to note, as it is solid rubber it was a little heavier then I expected, but in the scheme of things I think its well worth the added comfort.

I have an early production A5 with the well known factory butt pad deterioration issue. The factory pad finally got bad enough to replace and went with this slip on as it cheaper than a Browning pad. It goes on and off very easily with a snug fit. Recoil reduction is subjective without any way to measure, however it didn't effect shouldering and I would say it is an improvement over the factory. I have shot it without and without the factory 1/2" stock extension, on/off based on weather and outerwear. The pad maintains the same snug fit with and without the extension.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gummi Schaftverlängerung

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid product

Fits like a dream. Looks great. Works even better. I am 6'1" with long arms. This is just enough of an add on to allow me to fire shorter stocked rifles. With this added length I'll be able to fire any SKS, Lee Enfield or other short length rifles and shotguns. I have to buy a small size for them I now realize though. The recoil absorption is an added bonus. This shines though at giving a short rifle the right reach for us taller crew out there. A solid product. I'll be buying more. However most will be of the small size, as most of my rifles I need more reach on are small stocked rifles and shotguns made in Russia, Asia, and Europe. The Medium size is pretty large folks. It won't fit an Enfield or SKS. It's a solid inch or 2 too big so it will not look right at all. Medium fit my Winchester Cooey 870 perfectly though. So higher comb stocks for the medium size. Short compact rifle butts are going to want the small size. I think most short rifles will need the small size. Large must be darned big seeing how big Medium is!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing recoil reduction
Reviewed in Canada on April 14, 2019

Very effective. I have a single shot shotgun (CVA Hunter) that kicks so hard that it leaves bruises every time. I compared online reviews and was lead to this product. I am very satisfied. Recoil reduction is so effective, that I really could shoot all day with this. I have tested it with buckshot and slugs too, and it made them all manageable. Mine is a medium size and fits the stock.

Edit and update(July 2019):
I sold my single shot in favour of a Mossberg 500 in 12 gauge. I have added this pad to it and the medium size fits nice and snug. It fits better than it did on the CVA and does not slip off as it did occasionally. Looks good on the black stock, and I just test fired it with over 50 rounds of target load, a 1 ounce slug, and 00 buck. No bruising at all, and it makes shooting the Mossberg a real treat. It increases the length of pull a bit, but it still fits me well. I could have shot all day, but the sun went down before I ran out of ammo.
