I ordered this Darice set because I was looking for a hobby. I ordered some crochet needles then I saw these things and figured , hey what the heck, I'll give this a go. I recieved this in the mail, and looked over the directions that came with them. Honestly they suck. The pictures are numbered, but don't really correspond with the numbered direction step. I tried in vain to follow them only to get frustrated and want to give up. I took a break and when to YouTube. I found some great video tutorials over there and was loom knitting in no time! With ine 5 hours I have made one preemie hat (with a brim and pom pom) and half a scarf (both two tone). I'm guessing these are the knock off of the Khifty Knitter brand. The colors don't match, but it's kind of easy to match them up when watching YouTube videos.

On to the size:
The Blue one: This will make a PREEMIE hat ( I think there is no way this would fit a full term infant); I'm also using this loom to make the scarf
The Green one: This would make infant/ toddler hats
The Orange one: Good for older child/ Adult hat
The Pink one: I guess an XL for some on with puffy hair, of if you use a soft yarn that has little strech or a lot of shrinkage.
You can also make flat scarves of panels on these looms (check YouTube for ideas). I am in the process of learning more stitches to complete on these, as I am only doing the basic so far (the one demo'ed on the back of the pack)

I have had a few pegs pop out on me in the beginning, but it was because I was looping the yarn (I'm using Red Heart Super Saver brand) too tight and it was yanking them out. They snap back in, and I haven't had a problem since. The tool and the needle work well without defect. I will upload pictures upon completion of the scarf.

This was the first time I've tried knitting with looms. The ease of it is wonderful. I have found so many free cute patterns online that I can't knit them fast enough to try the next one. Depending on the intricacy of the pattern, an adult hat usually takes me probably 6 - 10 hours to knit at a leisurely pace. Through some trial and error, I have found the the bulkier yarn works much better for the gauge of these looms. Doubling up on regular yarn gives good results too. I'm excited in trying other projects on them, but only have only done hats so far.
Because I like knitting on these looms so much, I decided to get another large loom, only I got one with an even 40 pegs instead of the 41 peg large one in this set. I was able to compare some differences in the two styles. The pegs in this set are not removable, which I like since there are not any accidents of them coming off during a project. The pegs on these also have a round knob end, instead of a hooked, crotchet like tip. Either works fine for me, but I noticed working with the hooked tip on my other loom, the stitches remained secure until I was ready to knit them off. I had some trouble with them accidentally slipping off on these. The loom pick that came with this serves its purpose adequately but the rubber grip had a tendency to start to slip off the pick. The pick I got with the other loom didn't have this problem. It's not something that would actually cause any problems, it is just noticeable when I would have to press the grip back down onto the metal part a few times during a project.
I am very happy with this purchase. I love crafting and this has given me something new to add to my ever growing list of crafty hobbies I enjoy.

I was really surprised at the quality of this item. I expected the plastic to be flimsy and the pegs to break easily. Not so! This item is made of thick durable plastic but not really heavy at all and the pegs are the same, durable and will not break easily. I already made two hats...so easily. There are lots of You Tube videos too showing many different things you can make. I'm looking forward to learning more. One thing to note, I did find the orange size to be more appropriate for adult hats AND for most kids of the mid to upper elementary ages. For some reason, when I made my first one on the green for my 8 yr old, it was really too tight...and he doesn't have a large head...just average. The orange was a perfect fit for him. That makes me wonder if the Pink would be more appropriate for the average adult or male adult.

In any case, this is a durable set, even the hook. Do yourself a favor though, purchase a metal darning needle. I knit with regular needles and circular needles and these plastic darning needles are cheap and break way too easily. I have some metal ones by HiyaHiya that I love. They are slightly curved and it makes "sewing" or tucking in ends easy.
