How does an Anchor Puller Work?

Boat anchored with AnchorLift

AnchorLift 2

AnchorLift 3

Dropping anchor

When ready to raise your anchor, simply clip the Anchor Ring to your anchor line and throw the buoy into the water.

Departing

Motor forward around your anchor line to break your anchor free.

Ready to retrieve

Continue to motor forward until the anchor reaches the surface. The anchor chain will counterbalance the anchor and hold it at the surface.

Raising your anchor with the Anchor Ring system

  1. Slip the Anchor Ring over the anchor line. Attach the shackle-buoy assembly. Be sure to snap the shackle through both eyes of the ring. Toss the buoy into the water allowing the ring to slide down the line.
  2. Motor your boat forward at a 30º angle off of your anchor point taking care to keep the anchor line clear of the prop. Proceed forward – at roughly 5 knots – until the anchor is released from the bottom, then increase speed slightly – 6 to 8 knots. Do not continue forward if the anchor does not break free.
  3. The anchor line will slide through the ring as the buoy floats on the surface. Once the anchor has reached the surface, shift into neutral and pull in the slack anchor line and anchor. The anchor chain will counterbalance the anchor and hold the anchor at the surface.

AnchorLift Disclaimer

  • Always operate vessel in accordance with Coast Guard and other applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Use extreme caution when anchoring in moving water and when letting out and retrieving the anchor line.
  • Always keep your anchor line free of tangles and away from the propeller.
  • Do not use where loss of property or safety may be at risk.

The ring eyes are not sufficiently closed (not even close) such that the clip can easily slip out leaving the ball floating away. Probably easily fixed with a vise or press, but after I inflated the ball, using a pool toy inflator so no chance of overfilling, I see it's leaking from a seam. The nylon line doesn't seem to be screwed up so there's that... Do yourself a favor and buy a Taylor ball and source the other parts separately. I was lazy and I paid the price.
