Best investment for a fan controller! 4yrs gets better! See what you need to know!
Four years plus and it still works! I got this to control my master bedroom fan and surprise it still works. Below is the details of this awesome piece of work. What I like About It (All of it):- low battery consumption (mine runs on rechargeable battery and only charge them after 8-12 months)- current room temp indicator (bonus)- The convenience all below:- 3 fan speeds- room temperature based auto on/off function (if room temp =: 8 degF above setting means Fan-High, 4 degF, means Fan-Medium, same temp means Fan-Low and temp 1 degF below setting means Fan-Off i.e room is 1 deg colder already)- fan and light off timer (0.5, 1,2...up to 24 hr range)- dim function (100% to 20% range)- exit light off (3 minute timer)- during installation: - easy mounting of cradle to wall or in my case a switch plate - Can be repurposed: - multiple around the house independent units capable (make sure you make a list of the frequency no.) - cloning or making one controller for some common areas is possible (although not advisable)What I don't like about it:- None (this is not designed for regular non-dimming CFL's or LED's such that when dimming they flicker and reduce bulb life)What to watch Out For:- may not work with some dimmable bulbs (best to test the bulb brand for a couple of days to a month)I wish it Had:- glow in the dark button for the light (I modified it to have one- green dot on pics)Here is How this works/adjusted (the specs): (See pictures for buttons and display) >Regular buttons: - fan On button (turn on and adjust fan speed) - light On button (also dim button- holding it down; once it reaches the bottom dimmest setting it goes back up to the brightest 100% and then goes back down and so on...) - light delay (I call this exit light off- if pressed, light remains on and then auto turns off in 3 minutes) - fan auto (to switch to manual and auto) (see above like how this works) >Setting buttons: - fan timer (when setting hours to run fan on timer) - light timer (when setting light hours to run on timer) - up and down (for setting hours and temp) >Display indicates: - set temp (to keep fan on when current room temp is equal or higher than this, fan turns off when current room temp is below this) - current room temp (the chip inside the controller compares the set temp to current temp when on auto mode; this also is a good visual aid when trying to find out current temp in the room compared to other rooms in the house) - fan on state based on the 3 speeds (low, medium, high) (blue button to adjust) - light dim state in percent (%) (yellow button to adjust) - fan auto/manual state (fan auto button)Important Tips:1) If you have multiple fans or have pending installations, interference and duplication is avoided by changing the frequency switch before installation, make sure you make a list of rooms versus frequency no.for reference to save time in installation troubleshooting a duplicate signal.2) Change bulbs to dimming CFL's or best to LED's to eliminate flickering. (We all may upgrade at some point.) Make sure to test the best brands available in your area (for a period of time) prior to bulk purchase. 90 Day return policy on most stores will serve this purpose.3) Bulbs of different brands are made different. When it comes to dimming with whatever dimmer switch, the bulb needs to be tested for compatibility. What I did:I upgraded/changed all my bulbs to LED's during thanksgiving last year (specifically GE brand and dimming is no longer a problem). In Conclusion:This is one great investment useful, reliable and durable. The auto fan function may serve its purpose well for house climates that change temperature up to 9 degF range (High to Off setting). It will work as described. Some compatibility with available dimmable CFLs may need verifying and this is not the fault of this unit. YMMV on battery life if you have auto function set up and timers set frequently. This review is based on my personal experience. Great device. Have it running on three fans. With DIP switch selection, I can control up to 256 different fans individually or as many as I want simultaneously with one control. All features work as expected. Fan speeds change quickly. If power is turned off at the wall switch, fan returns to last set speed and light returns to last intensity. One fan has an incandescent lamp and two have dimmable LED lamps. All turn on, off and dim perfectly. Also works with a halogen lamp. Have not tried CFL. Remote display shows illumination level from 20% to 100%. Temp control is nice. Wish display had a light and buttons back lit for operation when entering a dark room but display is clearly legible and understandable in an illuminated room. Wall bracket is convenient. As others have noted, the receiver is a tight fit in the bell with all the wires but this is the case with all of the fan remotes that I have seen. Fitting it in is challenging, not impossible (except for one small bracket that we had and changed).

Originally Purchased a for a fan-light combo that included a standard down rod bracket, which did not provide quite enough room for my installation. Ended up with a replacement, a Hunter model that has a new and different down rod bracket. The down rod and bracket receptacle for it are square rather than spherical and the overall down rod bracket is much longer than is typical so I was able to screw it into wood ceiling joists in lieu of attachment to the ceiling electrical box. Very good move, Hunter. This allowed the remote receiver to be positioned outside the down rod bracket space, and that allowed me to use the product instead of returning the remote to the store. Everything works perfectly so the fan motor is properly controlled in speed steps 1-2-3-4 and off, and the light--once dimmable LEDs replaced those that came with the the fan-light package, we get the a full linear range of brightness from the light part of the fixture. I am pleased with this product!

I installed the remote control, after the remote controller on a new ceiling fan failed after about 9 months. Installed this, and this failed after about 2 months. When I'd turn on the fan, you'd hear a light buzz and see the blades twitch for a few millimeters, and then all quiet. However, I didn't have time to replace the replace it immediately and a few weeks later, I noticed that the fan was running. Looks like all function is back to normal. Its been doing fine for last 2 or 3 months. So minus two stars for it going bad, but plus one star for including nano-bots that self-heal the controller.

I haven't used the advanced features. The light dimmer on my led corncob bulbs, worked but it provided limited dimming. Pressing the dimming button slowly makes the dim setting go down and when it gets to the lowest setting (60%) it immediately goes back to 100%. So you have to be careful when holding the button down.

Controller also has a temperature option, where you can set a temperature and when it passes that threshold, I'm assuming, it will turn on the fan. Also there is a timer option, where you can set it to run the fan for set of time, and then turn it off. I haven't used either of these options however.

Last, and maybe the important one for some, is I wanted a controller that would remember the fan/light setting. For example, after I set a light and fan setting, and then on the wall switch (which turns the power off to the ceiling fan), If I were to turn the power off, and then on, the fan would go to the last known setting. I don't know if all of them do that, but when I was buying a controller, it wasn't clear that others did that. But atleast this one did that.

In conclusion, looking at the reliability of other controllers from reviews, I'd buy the cheapest controller you could get. This one was fairly cheap, and had extra functionality, although I don't use. But I think they are, atleast the ones with simpler controlls, are overpriced. Also, in my case, not sure how long its going to last... hopefully it will keep going.

I bought and installed this kit over 2 years ago. It still works flawlessly. It works great as a manual remote control for my Hunter fan. I have used the timer function and the thermostat function - both work. I think I have not yet had to replace the batteries in the remote but it uses AAA batteries, not hard to find type batteries.

I use it in a large room and it works fine. I’m pretty sure the remote will work in much larger rooms. I have a Bond Bridge which I use with this ceiling fan. I also highly recommend the Bond Bridge if you want to allow your mobile phone or Alexa to control your remote enabled ceiling fans.

If you want a ceiling fan remote with auto on/off features, buy this. You will not regret it.
