That's the best explanation I can come up with for this thing. I bought it completely exceeded all expectations. Works incredibly well.
I'd recently purchased a string mower/trimmer. It couldn't handle my yard very well in mower mode. I used it four times and got sick of it. We live in a duplex. Our front yard is something 100' L x either 6' W or 15' W, depending on how close you're standing to the street. The back yard is 30'x30'. I kept my stringed machine to use as a trimmer.
Pros:
Super light weight
Quiet
Plenty of power
Doesn't smell like gas
Easy to operate
Easy to assemble
Kill switch for when the bag is too full
So, the best thing is that thing can handle a really badly overgrown lawn. My backyard was full of crabgrass, plus some Bermuda sod. It had been raining almost constantly for the last month, so it was wayyy out of hand. It actually cut it!
On top of that, it's much lighter to push around than any gas powered machine and doesn't stink like a gas machine. Really quiet, too. Controls are easy. Push the start button then close the lever to keep it running.
It took me 10 minutes to put together, sitting in my living room floor.
Cons:
Dragging an extension cord
Bag is too small
Side discharge is messy
Any plugin electric lawn machine is going to be mildly annoying. You get used to that. I learned to walk in straight lines instead of walking in a square to keep from getting tangled up in the cord. Not that big of a deal.
This thing REALLY needs a bigger bag. As stated, my yard was out of control. I filled the bag up in two rows and had to dump. I finally got sick of that and just used the side discharge. That works, but looks pretty bad. I had grass all over me and the sides of the fence. That's my own fault, not the machine.
Conclusion:
Would I buy again? Yup, definitely. This machine is awesome for a small yard. Just learn to walk in back and forth straight lines rather than walking in a square so you don't run over you extension cord.
The problem I had was the wheels. First, one of the back wheels kept falling off. I took the green insert out of the other one to see why it wasn’t falling off, and I discovered there was a cotter pin in a groove on the axle, but the cotter pin wasn’t in place on the other wheel. I wrote to the company and they sent me a set of two new wheels (only really needed one, but it was nice to have a spare cotter pin in case it broke when I bent it). But it wasn’t easy to figure out how to get the pin in position on the other end of the axle (with the wheel on, but the green insert pulled out). The pin doesn’t snap on the axle unless you bend it apart with needle nose pliers and then use the pliers to get it in place, then bend it back in line. I’ve never dealt with a pin so hard to attach—maybe why it didn’t get properly placed in the factory. I’m wondering if that problem isn’t why Amazon has such a great price on them (I would have felt gypped if I’d paid over $100 for it, frankly). I feel like those wheels are now not going to fall off, they are on firmly.
So then I mowed a pretty small lawn and it performed well, except that (a) the clippings bag needs to be pulled off and emptied pretty frequently — though I admit my grass had gotten pretty tall, so you may get more than a couple rows done before you have to empty it — and (b) about 3/4 of the way through, one of the *front* wheels fell off, and after I tried to put it back on a time or two, eventually I just gave up and pulled both front wheels off... and to my surprise, it actually moved more smoothly! I had to hold it so the front skimmed above the ground a little, but my mowing speed actually picked up and I finished the lawn pretty quickly. So although I imagine they might be just as quick to send more wheels if I asked (actually, the front axle bent too, and a spring fell out before I noticed, so I’d have to get those replaced as well) I may just keep using it this way. Not really looking forward to trying to bend and place two more cotter pins - they are tiny and easy to drop/lose! I did notice my local Home Depot stocks the wheels and has a different-looking pin, so I’m guessing they redesigned it.
Anyway, the price was right, and although it takes many passes to finish a lawn due to the narrow size of the row it cuts, I’m happy with it: the weight, the ease of movement, the comfort of the handle. Assembly was not difficult at all, other than the cotter pin issue.
Top reviews from other countries
It's light, quiet and I'll never use my gas mower again.
Highly recommended.
My home is a middle row of a townhouses, so i have to carry the mower between front and back it is easy to carry and is lightweight enough to maneuver around. Cutting grass is why people buy a lawnmower and i have to say it does that job well. The rear bagging works very well. I even use it as a mini vaccum across the patio to pick up clippings. Changing height is okay now, i suspect overtime with wear and tear it will be come more difficult.
My only complaint in the plastic housing that covers the blade area (the darker green plastic on the image) is pretty flimsy. I touched a tree while cutting the lawn and it deformed enough to touch the spinning blade and it damaged the interior of the cutting area. It did not penetrate. But you will need to be careful about touching items with the side of the mower while in use..
End of the day for my postage stamp of a yard it does what i need it to do.
