Great for practice but don't trust your life with it

Great for practice but don't trust your life with it
The drum set is very easy to set up, and as long as you know your way around a drum set, you won't need the instructions. It comes with all of the parts for a basic drum set, including the kick pedal, and that was a nice addition. The drum set comes with a pair of drumsticks, although they feel like very cheap 2A's, and I would recommend getting a pair from your local Guitar Center.Rebound all along the modules is pretty OK. Its not very realistic however, as all of the tom pads have great rebound, including pad 3, which is supposed to be the floor tom. The snare pad has pretty crappy rebound though. The center of the pad has a bit of rebound, but you aren't going to be laying down a solid double stroke roll on it by any means. The rim of the snare has a nice sound it, as the snare pad is a two section pad. It is hard to trigger sometimes though, as when you are riding on the hi-hat, you really have to slam the rim in order to make sound at a comfortable angle. The hi-hat pedal is OK. It isn't too flimsy, but it isn't firm enough for you to practice double bass with. Supposedly, if you hit the pedal the right way, it makes the sound of a hi-hat opening, like on a real hi-hat, but we have had very little luck with that. The sound is just open or closed. The bass pedal is pretty great. We have adjusted it to be pretty tense, and it works well, when played heel up, which is how my son plays. If you have big feet however, and you play heel down, you may run into issues, as there is a little annoying notch near the top of the pedal, where your toes would rest. The drum set doesn't come with a throne, and it doesn't set up pretty tall. Now, my son is 6'4", and the proper to sit at the drum set is with your legs as a slightly downward angle. My son's are about flat with a cheap throne on the highest setting. Its not a deal breaker, but it can be annoying. The set also doesn't come with a speaker or headphones. One thing that my son loves a ton, is that there is an aux-in port on the drum control. That way, he can have an auxiliary cable in from his computer, to his drums, and then plug his headphones into his drums. This is extremely convenient, because he then can hear his computer, and his drum at the same time, and that makes practicing music really easy. It also means that he never has to unplug his headphones from his drums, and then plug them back into his computer when he's done jamming; he can just go over to the computer. The drum module also has a metronome, and many different profiles where you can assign different drums to different pitches. He can have a jazz profile, a worship profile, and a metal profile, and switch between them all in no time at all. The actual sounds from the drums are OK, but the cymbal sounds are pretty great. Just play around, and you'll find a combination that you like.If you hit heavy, or plan to use this for gigging, read these next two sections. if not, carry on :)My son is a very heavy hitter, and when we got this set, he was using very heavy sticks. My son was using the Mike Mangini signature stick on these electronic drums, and he was hitting the crap out of them. For those of you who don't know, the Mike Mangini signature stick is like 16.5" long, and weighs a fair amount more than your run-of-the-mill 5A's. This is worst case scenario, and it showed. After, about 4-5 months, a small tear appeared in tom 2. It didn't affect playing or rebound, but it was there. After 6ish months a tear appeared on the side of the hi-hat, where the drumstick hits 99% of the time. We switched the hi-hat drum pad with the ride drum pad, and carried on. A few weeks ago, it happened again on the hi-hat. so we switched it with the crash. It hasn't affected playing a whole ton, but, once more, its there. Now, my son has switched over to Vic Firth x8d's, a very light stick, so we will see how this drum pad withstands time as opposed to the others. This entire experience knocks off a star on the review. The second star knocked off is for triggering issues. What I mean by that, is that not everything triggers right 100% of the time. The hi-hat (granted, very rarely) will sometimes not register an open, and that throws my son's practice off, and he'll have to restart that song, to make sure that the error wasn't on his part. Another triggering issue is that sometimes, during a cymbal roll, or even just a big crash, the crash cymbal will trigger the bass drum. So you hit the crash, and it crashes, but it sounds like you hit the bass drum as well. This again, is annoying, and gets in the way of practicing. We've gotten use to it now, but it's enough of a complaint to remove a star, and for you not to trust this is perform 100%, 100% of the time. This is an excellent purchase for anyone learning drums. My son bought this 7 months ago, having only learned the basic rock beat, and jazz swing. He now comfortably plays in the school jazz band, a jazz combo and for our church. If you're looking for something to practice on, and are OK with hiccups you may encounter, this is the kit for you.TL;DR - Great kit for practice, don't gig with it, don't beat the crap out of it, and it will last you.

GREAT EXPERIENCE buying this set from AMAZON. I am an experienced drummer. This is a great set to practice in my apartment, to travel to friends, and even gigs. The articulation and volume depths of the "real like feel" heads are great. Tons of options for programming the sets to how you want and individual volume adjusts tops this set. I use the "mix-in" feature all the time with songs and even with my guitarist/vocalist/bassist using adapter plugs so we can "jam" all hours of the night completely quiet to the neighbors. We will also record with this thing down the road using the USB output. Love the rim-shot feature that can also be programmed to any sound -so when I program the pedals to double bass, I use the rim shot as my hi-hat sound. Both pedals that come with this are actually nice to play on and the hi-hat pedal also feels exactly like the bass pedal so it works good for double bass. You can put your own double pedal on this set also, and don't worry if it will be able to keep up because it can even if your using axis, demon drive, speed cobra, or the elliminator. Overall a great quality, great depth, great articulation, compact, easy to use, fun. If I had to say bad things about it which I really don't want to, the only thing I could say is that when using the hi-hat pedal as a second bass pedal that it is not as loud as the primary bass pedal -but the feel is great. But if you have a double bass pedal then don't worry about -it which case any serious double bass player will have their own anyway. The other bad thing is you can't add additional triggers (I wouldn't want anymore). But any "real" drummer can make this set sound way better than a bad drummer sitting behind a more expensive set looking like a clown. Work on your technique, not on how much you are able to spend on a drumset to feel better about yourself. THIS set is everything you need, so quit wasting time doing your homework on these sets, BUY THIS ONE.

I've wanted to play drums for a long time, but knew the noise would be an issue. I looked at other sets and almost got the DM8 because it comes with more sounds and customization options on the module. This kit is a great starter kit and a lot of fun... I connect my computer with an auxiliary cable from the headphone jack to the input jack on the module, then connect headphones or a guitar amp to the module. Using this set up I can play anything I want on iTunes or a website etc. It's a lot of fun playing along-- especially once you start to improve. I've been playing it pretty hard for a couple months and haven't had any technical issues.

    A few issues:
There aren't a ton of sounds available on the module, but you easily get your basic rock sounds and some additional stuff. I would like to run it through software on the computer but I haven't had great success pairing it with the right drumming software. Research using the kit as a controller online first if this is what you plan to use it for, and make sure you have the right equipment/software or are willing to buy it.

    A couple tips:

-Watch YouTube vids of people playing the DM6 to get a feel for how it looks/sounds/handles.
-Install the firmware update from the Alesis website (fixes an issue where the hitting the hi-hat would trigger the snare at times).

-Buy a few different pairs of sticks and see which ones you like, or switch between them. The sticks that came with the set aren't that great. I bought three pairs of Vic Firth sticks on Amazon the same time I bought the set. After some research I bought the Vic Firth American Classic eStick, the Vic Firth American Classic 5A, and the Vic Firth American Classic 5B. I use the 5As the most, but also use the eStick and the 5B. Adapting to different sticks seems to help with my technique overall.

Overall I really enjoy this kit and for $360-$400 I think it's a good deal.

eDrums are great for keeping the noise to a minimum while jamming out. It still makes a considerable amount of pitter patter as the pads are hit, but much more tolerable than an acoustic set. Plus, there is always the option of hooking up a amp/speaker; this is my preferred method.
Setup was difficult as the directions are terrible. Step 1 should be: Find the "drum key." This is required to assemble all of the stands. Instead, it just gives a tiny picture of unlabeled parts and some arrows that tell you where to insert the pieces. Of course nothing fits because you have to loosen all the clamps with the drum key before inserting. Okay 20 min later I've figured this out and can now begin building. Not so bad anymore. Just remember to keep all the clamps loose until the very end because you will be making minor tweaks to everything until it feels comfortable.
The preset kit sounds out of the box are less than stellar. You can create custom kits with you're favorite voices to alleviate this problem. Then, set the volume for each pad to balance it all out. It saves all this to memory so it's only required once.
I did the suggested firmware upgrade. Couldn't get it to work via Wine in Linux, but in Windows 7 it was a breeze. That seems to be a recurring theme but that's another story.
Now actually trying to play, I've not had any issues. Some other reviews mentioned problems with snare/hat silencing one another or dropping notes; thankfully not happening on my unit. My only gripe is that damn ride cymbal plays the bell sometimes when hit too hard. I just tell myself, "haha, yeah I meant to do that." It doesn't sound bad and I don't really consider it a problem.
All the pads are responsive and have a nice realistic bouncy feel when hit. But I should mention, my first week playing my kick felt way too bouncy. Every kick came out as a double hit. I messed with the kick spring and it seemed to go away. First all the way loose, and then very tight, and then a little less tight. Not sure if this did the trick or if I learned to control the bounce. Anyway, it doesn't double bounce anymore.
In the end, I threw away the box as this thing is a keeper!

Muy buena la batería, es mi primera electrónica y suena muy bien y se siente bien lo único malo podría ser que los pads son de 8 pulgadas pero todo lo demás muy buena. Si buscas una bataka para practicar te la recomiendo

Amazon is excellent in delivering the product so fast and I really appreciate Amazon for giving it to me at 25k in the lightning deals. As for the drums, its just brilliant. The sound quality is way above expectation and the quality of material is excellent.
There are 3 reasons I am really happy with this set:
    1) Excellent sound quality and build material. Totally worth the price.
    2) Easy to set up with a PC software like addictive drums 2 and this unlocks your drums to any kit you want the pads to sound. I was so surprised at the quality of recording and minimal latency problem.
    3) Can connect this to Xbox 360 to play rock band 3. Just need to buy a midi adapter to connect and you are all set. :D

I would just say that buy it and be happy in life cause this is definitely a good kit.
