I cook very often as a stay at home mom who refuses to feed my kids anything other than home cooked meals whether it be eggs over easy in the morning or chicken marsala for dinner. I havr been cooking with old non stick pans that I admit I have beat up i.e. diahwasher, scratched the bottom etc. So it was way past time for a new set. I did much research on almost all cookware out there that wasnt too expensive. My friend recommend the Calaphon non stick but after my research I wanted to switch to stainless steel for the health reasons, taste of the food and browning benefits of stainless compared to non stick. I got my set in on Wednesday, today is Friday morning and after successfully cooking eggs without sticking today and browning some of the best chicken ever last night I was compelled to write this review in which I almost never partake. Not only are they sturdy and feel much nicer than anything I have owned before but they cook evenly and made the transition from nonstick to stainless effortless. I do have to say that heating the pan before putting anything in them then adding the oil/butter is the best way to go. I also noticed that cocnut oil ensures no sticking AT ALL as opposed to vegetable oil or butter. For those of you who like the way butter makes ur food taste, start with the cocnut oil and add a little bit of butter later. Besides cocnut oil is so good for you. Anyway, awesome pans, everytime I cook I can't help but to smile because it is so nice to finally have some great pans that will last a long time. If anyone says they stick horribly its because they have no clue how to cook with stainless. Just saying. :)

I was given the Calphalon Wok a couples years back and was amazed with quality and even heat distribution especially on my apartment's electric range.

I have had the same cheap Walmart bought Teflon pots and pans since moving out on my own almost a decade ago and they were all bent, cheap and flaking. I ordered these after much research and after being warned about the health risks of Teflon.
From just lifting the box, I could tell these were much higher grade pots and pans than I had ever owned before. Each pan feels and looks like it was built to last a lifetime. I know these are not even the top of the line Calphalon, but unless you're running a professional kitchen out of you house I can't see what these can't accomplish.
After cooking on non-sick for so long, I forgot how much better food tastes with a real sear on it. Just make sure you buy the bartender's friend to keep the shine on them after cooking at high heat. I am confident I can pass these on to my daughter when she moves out in about a decade and they will still be solid and reliable. Maybe then I'll see what the higher level of Calphalon are about, but until then I'm just thrilled. Even the shipping was flawless.I was given a 5 day delivery window June 3-8. They arrived on the 3rd!

Update! It's been almost three years and every piece of this cook wear is in perfect condition. Yes, they do take a little elbow grease to keep shiny, but the handles and rivets are still smooth and tight.

Not being used to cooking with stainless cookware, there is a learning curve. I have found that I'm using a lot of Barkeepers Friend right now to keep the inside of the skillets clean, but hopefully as I learn how to gage the heat, that will improve. Nice solid pans, nice handles that stay cool. Good heat distribution. I would like to see steam vents in the lids, however as I learn to adjust my heat in cooking this might not be necessary.

After using the 2 qt. pan one time to boil potatoes in water, I noticed imperfections in the stainless. Little bubbles and swirls in the bottom of the pan, within the metal. Although I don't think this caused any issues with cooking (maybe metal leeching?), and unsure how this would worsen as I used the pan - along with considering the cost of the set, I wanted a replacement. I started the replacement process. Lots of hoops to jump through, lots of questions, lots of pictures and resubmission of pictures. After numerous emails, I was authorized a replacement. Since this set is no longer in production (who knew?) I could not get a matching pot. I accepted a different one, which was actually a 2.5 qt with no silicone handles. I received the replacement within 3 weeks after receiving authorizing.

As soon as I took them out of the box, I noticed the dark spots on stainless steel part of several pieces. They didn't come off when I used a wet cloth on the spots. Definitely looked like defects. I still have a small stainless pot that was made in America over four decades and in great shape. The companies to do better quality inspection. I sent the box back and certainly didn't want another same set.

This was a request from my husband for some "good" cookware. I bought it for him for Christmas, but I was frankly apalled at the price of the stuff! My husband enjoys cooking, but I am more into *slash the plastic film and throw it in the microwave*. :)

However, we did have a few pieces of Calphalon and I checked it out and it did seem to be a far better than average product. This gift did give him a complete (if limited) set of really good cookware. He is delighted and I will say the product is well worth the price. I can add to it as time goes by to make it more diverse. It is good substantial (heavy, but not like cast iron) set of stainless steel cookware. There is no teflon or almininum on the parts of the cookware that touch your food. Added handgrips on the larger skillets are a thoughtful feature and much appreciated by those of us who don't have a lot of strength in our wrists.

This would also be a wonderful gift for a new bride, or anyone who enjoys the art of cooking. While not as "exotic" as copper or bronze; and it doesn't have any TV chef's name on it, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better set of cookware at any price.
