A liquid suppository works faster than oral laxatives. There's no need to wait for the suppository to dissolve because it’s already in liquid form. |
With Fleet Liquid Glycerin Suppositories, it typically takes 15 minutes to 1 hour to get relief. Liquid Suppositories act locally to quickly deliver relief while oral laxatives have to travel the entire digestive system and can take up to 24 hours. |
Fleet Liquid Suppositories have a lubricated, gentle glide tip for ultimate comfort and ease of use. Doctor-recommended glycerin works with your body's natural system by attracting water into the stool to promote a bowel movement. Fleet Liquid Glycerin is stimulant-free. |

I've tried regular Fleet Saline Enemas but they never really worked for me and were too much of a hassle (and also just way too invasive). I also tried the Fleet Glycerin Suppositories that you insert and leave in. I never seemed to be able to get these very far up and even with the extra large kind - I was still not successful. When I did manage to shove one up there far enough that it might work, sadly, they did nothing for me except make me a bit more uncomfortable most of the time.
I was hesitant to try this Fleet product because it seemed like a combination suppository and enema, which essentially it is. But I figured if the other two didn't work for me, why would this? Being desperate, I decided to try it anyway even though they were quite expensive at the stores. I first bought this at CVS before finding this AMAZING value on Amazon.
In the beginning of my pregnancy they were super easy to insert. And granted, like the enemas, I couldn't keep the liquid in very long. BUT unlike the enemas, this definitely produced results no matter if I was able to keep the liquid in for 5 seconds or 5 minutes with virtually NO CRAMPING. Combined with the Colace , this really helped relieve my issues immediately about 85% of the time. There were a few times I think I could have used more liquid to help get things moving. That's the only area I would suggest to modify - perhaps making something with just a bit more liquid.
The amount of liquid in the bulb area would probably actually be ideal IF all the liquid got dispensed. However, and the instructions claim this is normal, the full amount of liquid never gets inserted. There is always a bit (and sometimes more than a bit) of liquid that remains at the bottom of the container after you use it - sometimes as much as half (no matter how hard I try to get it all in).
Not a deal breaker and definitely the best product I've used that was not a harsh stimulant laxative. If you don't like to insert things into yourself (and I definitely DO NOT) but don't like oral products that can cause tummy upset (which I have resorted to but DO NOT like either) - this is a really great compromise, IMHO.
Unfortunately it got a little harder to insert as my belly got bigger but I'll be damned if I didn't find a way because this product saved me, lol. I have since delivered my baby but still always keep these on hand for when needed. Especially after having a c-section - I've had to use the Colace , Pearls Elite High Potency Probiotics and these liquid suppositories on a semi-regular basis. Because of this combo, I've experienced little to no discomfort that many c-section moms complain about after delivering. I read terrifying things about BM's after c-section. So I armed myself in advance and think I found the magic trio!
There are so many things that can go wrong with the digestive system--from stem to stern--that sometimes it's hard to diagnose exactly what's happening inside of you. More than one case of flatulence has been mistaken for a heart attack, and vice-versa, unfortunately. Constipation can be attacked from a forward or rear position, or a combination of both for that take-no-prisoners feeling of freshness. First, pick a fiber supplement that works for you, then stick with it. Make note of the foods that plug you up and try to avoid them. Drink a lot of water. You know, all the no-brainer stuff you've heard so many times you've forgotten all about them.
Now, I'm not a doctor and I don't even play one on TV, which is why this is only a "review" and not an essay in The American Journal of Medicine. Stuff like Ex-Lax will usually get the job done, but it may not be a pleasant affair. Stool softeners tend to be less dramatic, and do what they say--though you are better off drinking water and taking a fiber pill. If you find you have to take something orally, go with the most logical solution: lubrication. Almost any oil will suit this purpose (hey, here's your chance to chug that Australian Extra Virgin pressing you've been hanging onto), but mineral oil is preferred, and Kondremul is an emulsified, vanilla-flavored laxative that tastes as good as it works. Sometimes it works overnight, sometimes you'll get a surprise a few days after the fact. And what's sick is that the stuff tastes good. I recommend slugging down a half bottle before bed. This way you get dessert AND lubed innards. It's a win-win for all concerned.
"Yes. Wonderful," you think. "But what about the bloody Fleet Glycerin things?"
Two words: Suppositories are dead. (Okay, three words).
Someone at Fleet got wise and wondered what would happen if they skipped the melting part of the suppository routine and delivered liquid glycerin in what can only be described as a cross between a melted suppository and a mini-enema. Let's face it, traditional enemas are pure overkill when it comes to a mild backup "back there." And as we have already discussed, suppositories can be unreliable and take forever.
Thought the instructions on the box say that a movement is likely between 15 minutes to an hour, it's more like 5 to 15 minutes before you will find yourself parked on the throne and marveling at the miracle of a product that actually works! AGAIN, THIS PRODUCT REALLY WORKS AND IS WORTH EVERY PENNY.
With that in mind, the profit margin on these babies has to be about 5000%--what does a small plastic ampule with a few drops of glycerin in it cost to make? Who cares? THEY WORK! And if you subscribe to deliveries through Amazon, you'll get them for about half the price of your local drugstore, and delivered to your doorstep. Now that's convenience--especially when you thought you were out!
PROS: Works in minutes
Will not turn homophobes gay (too bad)
Easy to use and clean up
CONS: Much too expensive for what it is, but then again, it works. Really, Fleet, you knew you had a winner with this product. Did you have to go an overcharge for it as well?
Easy to use.
It may seem like an enema but it does not have enough fluid to be an enema.
It is just a laxative.
