18 customers mention13 positive5 negative

Customers like the ease of sliding with the saw. They say the sliding action is smooth and effortless. They also say it's one of the smoothest moving guards they have ever seen on a chop saw. The sliding capability is great for cutting small sections of plate, and there is no slop in the action. The key to the saw is its slow turning motor and the blade design.

Customers have mixed opinions about the quality of the saw. Some mention that it produces a nice cut while cutting plastic, while others say that it leaves a lot of burrs on wood. The blade is great and makes smoother cuts in steel, while still others say it's difficult to get consistent cuts, the cuts are not smooth, and the miter stop is not very reliable.

26 customers mention16 positive10 negative

Customers are mixed about the finish of the saw. Some mention that it makes beautiful straight clean cuts, while others say that it was completely dull after 10 cuts and has an ugly finish.

"...I found once the blade starts to become dull, it will jump around side to side when cutting. If you need perfect cuts, this could be a problem...." Read more

"...was minimal, if any, the cut was perfectly on the line and the edge was much smoother. The cuts were square, unlike the original blade...." Read more

"...The table and fence were nice and flat, but seems thin and prone to cracking if you aren't being too careful, or you put a little too much force on..." Read more

Good with the proper blade, otherwise not worth keeping.

Good with the proper blade, otherwise not worth keeping.
The saw is decent, and the arm slides smoothly. The first thing I did was loosen the fence and adjust it. I do that with all my tools even the ones that are name brand and cost 3 times as much as this one. So that's not a negative as far as I'm concerned.Keep in mind that it's not a Makita or Dewalt, so if you keep your expectations realistic, you'll be ok with it.It cuts wood as good as my Makita miter saw. But that's not why I bought this. I bought it to cut steel. My first reaction after the first cut is to package it and return it. The blade chatters a lot and leaves a rough cut and it's no where close to good enough. See photo.I tried cutting just a little bit into square tubing to test it. The cut was twice as wide as the saw teeth thickness, I knew then that I cannot get an accurate cut with this. The only reason I didn't return it right away is because I could use the sliding action when cutting wood, my other miter saw does not slide. Then I decided to take a chance and order the evolution steel cutting blade to try instead of the multi-purpose blade that came with it.The results were completely different. The chatter was minimal, if any, the cut was perfectly on the line and the edge was much smoother. The cuts were square, unlike the original blade. With the proper blade, the saw went from destined to be returned to a keeper. The "cup" on the clamp came off after 2 uses, I had to fix that.Make sure you use at least safety goggles when using this saw, face cover is even better. To help you see the difference, I'm posting photos of the cut differences between the Original Multi-Purpose Blade and the Evolution Steel Blade.Update: In my original review I mentioned that it only uses 1" arbor blades. Thanks to the reviewer Colby Villers for pointing out that you can use 5/8 arbor blade by flipping the SILVER DUAL-SIDED INNER-FLANGE.It pays to read the manual. ;)
