Good for the money but not good for longer hair!

Good for the money but not good for longer hair!
I recently moved into an apt with my boyfriend and since the space is larger than my single bedroom before, I thought I’d get a small vacuum to help clean. I thought about getting a cordless one but decided against it since our space isn’t that large and I’d rather save the money. It also means you never have to wait for recharges!Works great and has 2 options for hardwood or carpet. I’ve accidentally been switching it to the ‘carpet’ option while on hardwood because I didn’t read originally and just thought it was a more powerful option (which it is, but obviously for another reason). Seemed to be fine and I was in a rental anyway so I wasn’t crying for the hardwood. In terms of its functionality, it does have an issue with longer length hair, and I lose a lot of it all over the floor. After it clogged it up a few times and stopped being so efficient, I decided to take another approach. I now Swiffer my hair and other large objects and then the little dust particles that are left behind after I pick it up, I vacuum. This process would also work with a broom and dustpan and using the vacuum for the dust left behind that’s harder to pick up. The process takes longer but this way, it’s better for the vacuum. This might definitely irk some people and turn some people off if you wanted an all-in-one solution. But if that’s the case, you might be better off with a more fancy vacuum with better capabilities. I took away stars for this but it doesn’t bother me personally so much that I’m returning it. It’s still better than not having a vacuum at all.I don’t use it often, so it’s held up so far. I’m unsure how it’ll hold up with constant use. I use it probably once every 2 months. Clearly not a very clean apt but that’s besides the point. For the price, I’m enjoying this vacuum.

This is a great little vacuum. It is the corded version of the Linx cordless vacuum. Light and easy to use, it has great suction, a really easy to empty dust cup, and a brush roll that does the job on low pile carpets. I've had this vac for about a month and so far it is working out great. I love the super easy to empty dust cup, it is hands free, just touch the button and the bottom of the cup opens and all the dirt falls out, I don't have to use my hands to free the dirt and hair or a brush to clean out the dust cup. The cord is 20', so you can get a lot of area done before having to change plugs. I originally wanted to get the cordless version of this vacuum, but after reading the reviews of the battery life and comparing costs, I decided on this one, and I'm very happy with my decision. We live on a farm and have five dogs who come in and out of the house regularly, so dirt and hair are a real issue for us. This vacuum really does a great job on the dog hair and dirt, it is so much easier to use than my old upright, so light and easy to get into tight places without having to move heavy furniture. Would highly recommend this to anyone needing hard floor cleaning and low pile area rug cleaning. I don't have heavy pile carpet so I can't comment on it's ability to clean that, but on bare floors and low pile area rugs it is great.

We just bought a second one of these, one for each floor of the house, which tells you our opinion of it.

We have a heavy upright for carpets and a canister for all-around use, but wanted something light and easy to use for quick clean-ups, including pet hair (cat) and bird feathers (lovebird) and general dust, to encourage more frequent cleanings, rather than less frequent ones. It works very well.

I looked at another brand that was highly rated but was only for hard floors, this one is good for carpeted and hard floors, a switch chooses which, and for carpets the roller or rug beater spins, but for hard floors it does not so does not mark or damage them. It is very quiet, easy to handle. I'm sure the heavier, traditional machines do a better job, but frankly this one looks like it gets everything, certainly fine for quick and effective clean-ups.

I understand that this is a corded version of a battery-powered Hoover (Linx). Not having a cord is a great feature to be sure, but your time before having to recharge is limited, and after some months or years, the battery needs replacement which costs about as much as an entire new machine, so i chose corded, and I'm fine with that.

Drawbacks? 1. Being light and easy, it does not have a huge bag or dirt chamber, so if your floor is dirty or a carpet with lots of "fuzz" shedding off, the vacuum will fill up with the dirt or fuzz fairly quickly, need to be emptied and perhaps the foam filter cleaned off if plugged with build-up. While it works on deeper pile carpets, I would use it primarily, if not only, for hard floors and for "thin" (not deep) carpets with little fiber shedding and not needing powerful, deep cleaning. 2. A related comment: Sone deep pile carpet fibers can build up or wrap around inside the cyclone chamber and it's a bit awkward to remove (tweezers help!). Again, if not used for rugs with long fibers from deep rugs or carpets will obviate this concern. 3. Like many or arguably all vacuums, some dust bunnies can get stuck on the edge of it instead of being pulled in and periodically one may have to remove them "manually", takes 10-seconds.

But again, if used for light cleaning of hard floors and "thin" rugs or carpets, it's great. If you plan on using this machine for full house including deep carpets and very dirty floors, etc., you will either have to clean the dirt cup and air filter frequently or use a heavier, more traditional machine. It's for surgical strikes or a room or two, not global war.

All in all, a very good unit and very versatile. I think it's excellent for hard floors and thin rugs or carpets, okay but needing more frequent maintenance if used on deeper rugs and carpets. It's effective, easy to use, quiet, light, etc. A larger dirt capacity would've been nice but it's light because it is not huge, and for bigger jobs there are bigger machines.

I've used this vacuum for 4 years, before it finally became irreparably broken. I have a house with tile in all the common areas, laminate flooring in the bedrooms, and one area rug.

Pros:
Lightweight - Even my toddler enjoys pushing it around the floor.
Suction - Great suction on tile and works decent enough on low-pile carpet/rugs.
Cord - Lengthy enough to reach across a room, without being so long that it is an inconvenience.
Maneuverability - Fairly low profile and easy to steer, makes it a breeze to glide through the house and around furniture.

Cons:
The dust bin falls out regularly, especially when I'm vacuuming under chairs.
After a couple of years of regular use, the mechanism that attaches the vacuum head to the handle occasionally separates while in use.
While I'm generally impressed with the suction, sometimes, you have to make sure the debris is directly in the center of the vacuum's head for it to be picked up. This sometimes requires multiple passes.
No hose attachment. I knew this when I purchased this vacuum, however, I had no idea how much I would miss not having one. Now that I need to replace my vacuum, I'm seriously doubting whether to purchase a different model, despite the fact that I was overall pleased with this one.

I don't know how long vacuums are supposed to last. I feel like it should last more than 4 years, although from many reviews I've read across different brands and models, that seems to not be the case most of the time. During the 4 years, I've had to replace the brushroll due to the plastic piece on one of the ends breaking off during normal use. And as stated above, after months of regular use, pieces would just start coming apart.

Well have one of these in Florida for my lanai these things suck up dirt really well surprised how much and they work just as well on hardwood. I know people read these reviews all they want to know is how it works where it works how good it works. It works well on hardwood floors or hard surface floors. I works great on carpets as well great suction you would be surprised on your first pass over with it how much dirt your get in the cup.
this is meant for light cleaning not really meant to replace your bigger heavier vacuum . You can use it every day if you choose to do so my goal I
to have this light one up stairs do my hardwood and area rugs that is it. Before I had a hoover over the shoulder vac heavy and awkward you have to put a strap over your shoulder and not light still have it but hope I do not have to use at all or very little . My only complaint I wish that it went lower to the ground meaning it does not fit under my coffee end tables so you need a dust mop to get under there. And it does swivel but only a little it does not have a full swivel head . So those are my only little complaints . But I over look them because it does such a great job. And is light weight is key. Like when you need to do that quick clean up when someone is coming you want to be able to crab something light and easy so it does not wear you out and has power and does hardwood and carpet. This little gem is great lots of power does the job if there is any thing negative on here they are being picky. It is a low cost stick vacuum and does and amazing job. I have one in Florida was shocked how well it works and I now have one here in Niagara falls Canada .

The corded Hoover Cyclonic Stick Vacuum came quickly (2 days). It was very easy to put together (3 parts). I plan to use it on floors, not carpeting. I tried it on a carpeted area, but it was not as efficient as my regular vacuum. I have only used it once so far, but it picked up dust and debris very nicely. Much better suction than the rechargable stick vacuum that I am replacing. Very easy to empty. Easy to manoeuvre and lightweight (under 8 lbs). The 20ft cord is just right. I am very pleased with this product so far.

1.0 out of 5 stars good vacuum ETA: Not so much anymore.
Reviewed in Canada on July 15, 2019
It's a nice light vacuum that sucks stuff up well, but the cord could be a bit longer. 15 feet is not quite long enough to do my hallway without unplugging it and moving it down to another outlet. ETA: It's 11 months on, and the vacuum has been acting up for the last month, and yesterday the motor started to burn out. Smells like burned wires, and was smoking a bit. It was sucking stuff up, I kept the filter clean, and made sure there were no clogs. It is very disappointing, as my last Hoover vacuum lasted us 27 years, and this one didn't even make a year. I'll try customer service, but reading the reviews on here, I don't hold out much hope.

4.0 out of 5 stars I would not recommend for anyone having any pet hair
Reviewed in Canada on June 14, 2016
We purchased this for light clean up between heavy vacuuming. We used it on bare floors and area rugs. Other reviews are correct when mentioning the frequency of emptying the dirt cup....and boy is it messy. It does pick up crumbs on bare floors very well. It didn't do too well on the very flat pile area rugs. We have some dog hair and it continually clogged the inside workings of the cup. I would not recommend for anyone having any pet hair. We ended up returning it because the clip to hold the dirt cup kept coming undone and hence the dirt cup kept falling off.
OK, so here is the rundown as to whether you want this vacuum or not. If you want an underpowered vac which will only be used for quick jobs this might be for you. You know that game you play of "I'd rather go over the piece of garbage on the floor several more times rather than just pick of up?' You'll play that game a lot more with this vacuum than if you just got the real thing. It feels pretty cheap and while its very light, it feels light in that bad way of lacking substance and durability.

Having said all that, here is my list of pros for if you really are in the market for a small, lightweight, simple vacuum.

It has a switch to go between no brushroll (hard floors) and brushroll (carpets) and the brushroll works decently. Its nice and simple to empty. The cord is decently long so you can get a good sized area. Its very light so nothing you wouldn't mind grabbing out of the closet for a quick cleanup. It has a reasonable (but not great) low profile which can get halfway under furniture. (Expect to be able to vacuum about a foot and a half under the edges of a low bed, but definitely not getting to the middle.)

I got this for my small studio apartment and to replace 20+ year Hoover stick vac. It has a strong suction power and the brand reliability (Hoover) is main reason I got this. The filter is easy to clean. However it does not vacuum under beds that well and the cord is could be a little longer. But it works okay for my circumstances. You might go with the cordless if have lots of rooms to vacuum.
