Put simply, this wok has changed my life! I know...that sounds goofy, but it really has. I am a single 40-something who used to barely cook. I would burn water...if you know what I mean. I hate clean-up, hate following recipes for 2-4+ and it being only for me, I hate waiting for things to cook in the pot and the pans and all the dishes.... All those dishes...
Bluntly...I used to HATE cooking and being in the kitchen; well, that was up until my Breville Hot Wok arrived at my doorstep!
No under-stating here, it is a large beast. It takes up real-estate!!
It is like the 1970's Cadillac decked out for the low-rider with fur and dice strapped around the mirror complete with shiny rims.
It is HUGE!!! But I LOVE IT!!!! It has its own plot of land in my kitchen complete with fenced in yard and car port. It never sees the inside of a cupboard. I use it every single day! Yes, you read that correctly...I use it...I cook now...every day!!!
This Wok has converted me from a fast food, microwave heating, just-add-water sort of gal into a veggie slicing, meat cutting, stir-frying woman!!!
I can't seem to find anything I cannot make in the wok that used to require the stove or microwave. Better yet, I have increased my veggie intake 1,000 fold. It is the only cookware that I have used in months.
And the cleanup! OH MY how wonderful!!! wet a paper towel... wipe. DONE!!!!! That leaves washing the utensil I used to move the food around. Wha-La!!!! AWESOME!!!!!
Other things for consideration:
*It has a removable base. While unplugged and cold, flip it over, turn the lock. Remove the base.
*You can clean the wok with a wet towel... it has an awesome non-stick surface so food does not stick...thus the wipe with a towel.
*Please only use non-metal utensil in this masterpiece. What a shame it would be to ruin it by using a knife or metal spatula and digging up the surface.
*It cost more than others out there...WELL WORTH IT!!
*Heats up FAST!
*Heats evenly, no "hot-spots" on the surface.
*It is large, but cooks for one as easily as it will for 4.
*Cooks food fast...I think that is a WOK characteristic. Meat sears and cooks in about 2-3 minutes. Veggies take about the same time. I can have a complete meal in about 5 minutes!!! (I even sliced up a potato and made "fried" potatoes in it with about a tablespoon or less of oil. Cooked them perfectly and in less than 5 minutes.)
*comes with a booklet with some recipes
*Cord is that Breville trade mark design. Has that "O" to pull with your finger so you never get near the outlet.
*It is a WOK...and that means... big. I have not seen any woks that were "small". The potential trouble is where to store it when not in use. I leave mine on the stove. I have a nonflammable cover that sits on my gas stove metal grill thingy (the gill that holds the pans/pots above the flame--that thing). So my wok is out 24/7 in plain view like the microwave and the coffee pot.. Microwaves/coffee pots sit out all day...why should not my awesome wok? :-)
Overall I love this wok and highly recommend it. But before you buy it, make sure you want the Cadillac in the garage, and ... make sure you have room for the Cadillac.

Overall I love this wok and highly recommend it. But before you buy it, make sure you want the Cadillac in the garage, and ... make sure you have room for the Cadillac.
I've had other non-electric woks in the past but always ended up just getting rid of them.
This wok is a whole different story. It's perfect for stir frying. The non stick is remarkable. Cleans very easily. The bowl is easily removed from the base for cleaning. But now i'm just using paper towels and water with a tiny bit of dish soap to wipe it out and it's so easy. I love the way it cooks chicken. Cooks fresh and frozen vegetables. I love the high sides which are great for stir-frying. It makes perfect scrambled eggs. Great for toasting nuts and making croutons.
You don't need to add oil although I do use avocado oil accassionally. Avocado oil has a mild taste and has a burning point up to 500 degrees. Other oils, olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc. all burn and smoke at a much lower temp.
I plan to make soup, stews, casseroles and hamburgers in my wok. I will try french toast and popcorn next. The possibilities are endless.
Other great features are the plug that goes into the wall and into the wok. The part that goes into the wok has a lever making it come out easier. The other end that plugs into the wall has a hole in the plug that makes it super easy, and safe to unplug. I love everything about this wok. A lot of thought was given by the manufacturers into every detail. I think it is well worth the cost and I plan to order 2 more of these for my kids Christmas gifts.

I gave the review below when I first got my wok. Yesterday I had a disappointing experience. While something was cooking and with no one touching the lid, the bottom screw on the lid fell right into my boiling sauce. I dug out a screw, spring, rubber ring and some kind of seal. This wok is not even 6 months old, how is the lid falling apart? I still love the wok but am disappointed about the lid.
This is such a great quality wok! I’ve only had it for a month and I love it. I like that the base detaches, makes cleaning easier. It’s a little heavier than I expected which is not a problem for me. I store mine in one of my deep kitchen drawers.
Fantastically easy to clean- just wipe and store. The heat intensity available is a revelation- it really does cook the food better and certainly enhances flavour. As to the surface, it is so non-stick that dry frying would doubtless be possible, if not entirely desirable.
$200 (Cdn) is not chump change, but it is worth every penny.
This is not a small item, so check your counter and storage space before taking delivery.
Unreserved thumbs up.
The wok heats up incredibly fast. The instruction and the YouTube video for this wok advised me to let the wok heat up for ten minutes for the best result. I had found that it only took a couple of minutes to reach the temperature that I am comfortable with.
The stir fry chow mein I made from this wok - is incredibly tasty. Of course, it's about having every thing ready for the stir fry. It's about organization. I have millions of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese stir fry cookbooks and I ended up in experimenting with various sauces. AND WOW...this Breville wok made the stir frying process easy - and lightning quick.
For my first few stir fries, I had this wok to boil the water for the noodles and then after quickly cleaned the wok, I flash fried the vegetables and meat...and the result was always yummi-delicious...
PLEASE NOTE: Even though the ad indicates that the wok includes a spatula and a steam rack, please ask the chosen seller - to see if the package does include the two items.
