Product Description
The Nano Technology coats every aspect of the Digital HD Power Elite Game Ear at a nanoscopic level and protects much more thoroughly than alternative approaches. This technology provides a truly durable, invisible liquid repellent coating inside and out resulting in a rugged, all-weather, worry-free Game Ear. This revolutionary coating does not affect the function or working components of the Digital HD Power Elite. Power Elite is equipped with four program settings (general, crowds, nature and power boost). There are four digital sound processing channels on the Digital HD Power Elite that provide outstanding sound quality and speech clarity. The 20 Bit audio processor offers crisp, clear sound. The Digital HD Power Elite has 50db of hearing enhancement, making it one of the most powerful electronic hearing protection devices available today. The Adjustable Frequency Tuning (AFT) provides a bass and treble fine tuning capability. The sound activated compression (SAC) circuit compresses loud noises to safe levels immediately. Other features of the Digital HD Power Elite include an eight band graphic equalizer, automatic feedback control, toggle volume control, low battery tone indicator and a noise reducing rating of 29dB. The Digital HD Power Elite runs off of a #13 battery and is available in beige or gray. Each Digital HD Power Elite comes with a Walker’s Field Carrying Pouch.
Please Note : Though these devices do offer great functionality and hearing enhancement as comparable to hearing aids, they are not hearing aids. Special requirements are needed for an item to be sold as a “HEARING AID”. Hearing aids are dispensed from licensed individuals by law.

Amazon is another story.
1) original packaging..nope. no packaging. Just stuffed the components into the black pouch and put them is a box.
2) like new. Nope. The foam tips had obviously been used. Battery 4 pack had been opened and one was missing. Instructions were torn and crammed in pouch.
Checked out.. I doubt it. One of the tips was placed reversed over the plastic lead from the receiver. Not the ear tube but the device itself.
Poor poor poor on Amazon's part.
Pay the retail price for a new unit wherever you can get the best deal. Fortunately I had enough spare parts from others I bought to avoid returning this one but I was tempted to return it anyway
I have moderate hearing loss in my left ear: trouble hearing people speak; constantly asking people to repeat themselves. I have to use subtitles or closed-captioning to watch movies or TV because voices sound muddled. I tried a ~ $35 hearing aid from Amazon but sent it back because the hissing white noise and background noise drove me crazy. From my reading, I learned that this is a problem with analog hearing devices, and that digital devices have cleaner sound quality. For digital devices, only 4-5 channels are necessary for hearing voices clearly. Devices offering 20+ channels are overkill- and needlessly expensive.
This hearing aid is digital and has 4 channels so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! It is fantastic, especially considering the price. True, it costs more than the analog devices selling for $30-$40. But good digital hearing aids are usually $1000+, so this one is quite inexpensive for what it gives you.
I can now hear conversations effortlessly. I went through an entire day at work without having to ask even one person to repeat himself. I can hear the kitchen timer timer go off from the other end of the house, when before I couldn't hear it from the next room. I had to turn the TV way down. Even better, I can clearly understand what's being said without closed-captioning!
Now that I'm using this hearing aid I'm realizing how bad my hearing has gotten. Last night I heard a strange clicking sound in my living room. Finally figured out it was the second hand ticking on the wall clock! I heard a police siren a few blocks away, but when I removed the ear bud I couldn't hear it at all.
The directions are confusing, though. It was hard to understand how the battery was to be inserted. You have to place the battery with the raised side down on the tray, flat side showing, otherwise the little tray won't close.
To adjust volume, the instructions say that the HD Pro Elite has 19 volume settings and:
"Each time you press the Volume Control toggle either higher or lower, you will hear a single tone." "Once you've reached either the maximum or minimum limit, you will hear a double tone."
Mine doesn't work that way. When I pressed and held down the toggle I did hear a single tone "beep". But the volume didn't change. I pressed at least 50 times going up, and 50 times going down, hearing a single "beep" each time, but the volume did not change.
Then I started pressing the toggle switch *quickly* and heard a double-tone "beep-beep" each time. THAT worked. That's the way to get the volume to go higher or lower. When I got to the minimum I heard a triple beep. So the instructions are inaccurate, or my device doesn't work like they say, or maybe I just misunderstood, but I DID get it to work. And once I got it figured out, it works GREAT.
I'm new to hearing aids and made what is probably a newbie mistake: At first, I pressed the ear bud in firmly to make an airtight seal. That is not only uncomfortable after awhile, but it isn't necessary. Now I have the ear bud inserted very gently, barely touching my ear. It's totally comfortable this way, and actually seems to work better.
It's smaller than the other hearing aid I tried before, and with the clear tube and clear ear bud, it's very discreet. I like that.
I saved a lot of money on this hearing device over the professional hearing aids. It's well worth the price IMO. I'll post another review in a few months to say how it's holding up.
