Powerful and effective, the Toro Ultra 3-in-1 blower, vacuum, and leaf shredder (model 51609) makes completing yard work fun and easy. With air speeds up to 235 mph, and airflow of up to 390 cfm, this electric blower nevertheless is lighter, quieter, and cleaner than similar gas blowers. Featuring a sleek, ergonomic design, it's a tool that is easy to use and will grab your neighbors' attention.

Three machines in one: a powerful blower, high-speed vacuum, and leaf shredder (see larger image).

Match the Power to the Task for Better Results

Tackle big cleanup jobs the right way with this powerful blower/vac. A variable speed 12 amp motor lets you select from an infinite variety of speeds between 112 mph and 235 mph. This means that you can use low speeds to clear off hard surfaces and clean up tight areas without making a mess and without sacrificing the blower's high-speed functionality.

Air Speed and Air Volume to Get Yard Jobs Done

Unlike some manufacturers, who simply reduce the size of their blower nozzles to achieve higher air speed ratings without increasing the practical value of their tools, Toro gives this blower/vac the ability to balance between air speed (measured in miles per hour, or mph) and air volume (measured in cubic feet per minute, or cfm) to ensure maximum power and performance.

This Ultra blower/vac offers air speeds up to 235 mph and air volume up to 390 cfm, allowing you to move a substantial volume of leaves and debris with ease. Two different air concentrator nozzle inserts come with the Ultra blower so you can match the correct air volume to the job you are doing. The power insert moves debris into wind rows and creates piles while the concentrator insert moves debris out of cracks and edging as well as moves stubborn leaves. The main tube is great for moving debris away from house and shrubs.

The metal impeller shreds leaves and debris into fine mulch (see larger image).

3-in-1 Versatility Makes Managing Tasks Easy

A convenient quick-release latch lets you convert your blower into a vacuum in seconds without any tools, while a metal impeller makes it easy to mulch debris. The magnesium serrated metal blades on the impeller shred leaves and other unwanted debris into a fine mulch that you can use around your lawn and garden, saving money and recycling important nutrients. It also makes it easy to dispose of unwanted yard waste, since the impeller can reduce 16 bags’ worth of leaves to one bag.

Clean and Efficient with Electric Power

Compared with gas blowers, electric blowers are quieter and require less maintenance. They start up instantly without requiring you to master a finicky pull cord. There's no messy gas-oil mixture to worry about, and you don't have to contend with noxious fumes to get a job done.

This high-powered blower/vac weighs in at a very manageable 7.5 pounds, making it easy on your back. It also features a cord hook for convenient storage of the electrical cord. It's backed by a full two-year warranty.

Had dial issues 2nd use, like others have

Had dial issues 2nd use, like others have
Edit, 3 years in:I had intermittent switch issues which would be "fixed" by tapping the vacuum nozzle on the ground. But now it has died. I took it apart and found out there is a circuit breaker (I think) on the bottom surface right around where the clip that holds the vacuum attachment is. Basically the back bottom area. There is a + shaped hole that I guess is to use a Philips screwdriver to push to reset the circuit breaker. However, the circuit breaker is broken, which I'm guessing is due to the vibration it has to endure. After putting it back together, I can push the button in and it will turn on, but it does not reset and the blower stops as soon as I stop pressing the switch. The switch is a Defond CPU-2113 circuit breaker which is 13A 125AC. It is not easy to find, particularly a new one. Also, it has 4 wires, so is harder to find an alternative. since most similar switches seem to only have 2 wires. The switch seems to be intended to stop the unit if something gets jammed in the impeller while vacuuming.Original:This worked great the first time I used it. Blowing is very strong. The vacuuming and mulching is very good, though takes care not to over feed it. It'll chew up small sticks and even got some pine cones through it, which is where the all metal blade makes a difference. I don't like that the vacuum bag connector has a thumb press to release it. Probably works great in a nice clean environment, but once you've got dirt and debris in there, pulling it off isn't so easy. There is no cavity under the thumb button to allow it to be easily pressed, and then the nozzle sticks on there so it is a press plus struggle with the nozzle to pull it. Probably over time it'll loosen up.The other parts seem to come off more easily because they use an easily pressed button and then they don't stick so much in general. This does break things down into a nice small size, though I have nice relatively small and brittle leaves to deal with. Overall I'm happy with the vacuuming and mulching which is why I bought it. Makes clean up at the sidewalk and in areas that are hard to rake much easier. The one big negative so far is I had the same switch issue as others, but mine came back to life. The second day I used it, which was months after the first use, it just didn't turn on. Turned the dial, and nothing, pushed the power cord to make sure it was connected, and nothing. Turned the dial back and forth, and nothing. I pulled the power cord and checked that the power cord powered a drill. So I made sure everything was all tight and still nothing happened when I turned the dial. So I decided to try to take parts off in case there was some safety switch that I didn't know about. Pulled the bag off, and turned the dial and it came to life again. There is no safety switch and I have used it without the blower nozzle attached before so I have no idea why it didn't work until I pulled that off. The only thing I can think of is the struggle to get the bag off, unstuck the power switch part of the dial. I think they'd be better off with a dial to control the RPM and then an actual on and off switch. The combo just doesn't seem to be reliable. After that failed start, it turned off and on just fine for the hour or so I used it.If I weren't worried that one day it'll just not work, it would be more stars, but I can see what many people have complained about, and I was lucky it didn't completely die yet.
