I've now owned this product for a month. I needed a replace for my Cuisinart CH-4 Elite Collection 4-Cup Chopper/Grinder , which worked fine for awhile, but unfortunately, after only about 2 years of fairly light use (a few times per month) developed multiple cracks in the housing holding the blade. (As a aside, Cuisinart customer service refused to replace blade because the product was over the 1-year warranty--never mind that it was defective.)

So, I found myself on the hunt for another small chopper. Because our household is just me and my husband, I didn't want a full-sized food processor, yet I wanted something larger than a "mini" processor. Luckily, another reviewer pointed me towards this product; given the great price, I decided to take a chance and order.

When the Oster chopper arrived, I was surprised by the large size: although it is 4-cup, the same size as my old chopper/grinder, it definitely has a bigger footprint. However, this turned out to be a positive, as the Oster has a roomier basin, allowing it to contain more food, and a smaller motor, with the unique design of the motor being on the TOP of the unit.

The other great thing about this product is that there is no tricky locking handle/lid mechanism (the lid on my old Cuisinart was constantly getting stuck!). The Oster's lid simple sets on top of the main basin, and motor sets in the lid. There are no multiple settings (which never made a difference in other mini-choppers I've owned anyway)--rather, a simple press on the large, dome-like motor is all that is necessary to activate the unit. For most jobs, I've found that a few VERY BRIEF pulses is all that is needed. However, I've also found that there is less of a chance of over-chopping--and winding up with a soppy mess--than with other choppers I've used. Instead, I get nice, precision-chopped veggies/other items each time.

Overall, this product is performing great for me so far. If anything changes, I will update my review, but at this point, I definitely recommend this Oster Chopper.

This was one of those purchases made on the spur of the moment...I was tired of lugging out my huge food processor but realized I had been avoiding making certain well-loved recipes because they required the use of a food processor - thus began my hunt for a small, well-reviewed "chopper". After researching many different units, I settled on this little Oster. I must admit that when I opened the box and looked at the blade I was a little skeptical....in fact, I was thinking to myself, "Thank goodness for Amazon's fast-and-easy return policy!". Long-story-short....it's a gem! The motor is powerful, one-or-two pulses and most things are chopped to perfection! Clean-up is a breeze, rinse off the blades and carefully dry them, rinse out the bowl and its top and you're good-to-go for the next time you want to use it. It's small enough (and cute, too) to sit on my countertop....I would never have left my gigantic food processor sitting out. I'm a happy camper not to mention thankful that this particular spur-of-the-moment purchase turned out to be just what I was looking for.

Three years later.....I'm still loving this little food processor. When I was first thinking about purchasing it I was a little put off by some of the "bad" comments, especially the one that said it stopped working after only a couple of uses. I'm glad I decided to ignore the naysayers and buy it - again, partly because I know Amazon has a great return policy if you're not completely happy with your purchase. It continues to work like a gem and I use it many times a week and I can't remember the last time I lugged out my old (and very large) food processor. So, if you're on the fence about whether or not to give this little unit a try....go ahead, buy it! I doubt you'll be disappointed.

This is a great chopper: great size for two people, it cleans super easy (a fundamental feature for this type of devices) and it is very simple to use. You can't go wrong for the price. I would recommend it to everyone!
It is a very versatile tool: I did sauces and dips, as well as smoothies, grated cheese and chopped nuts, made even an attempt in ice cream! I really pushed its limits: I tried pasta dough and biscuit dough, even crushing ice and, although I could hear it struggling, it performed. My last endeavor was an almond-chocolate paste: I could never have done that without it. Really really useful, I have grown attached to it.

Alas, today, 6 weeks after delivery, it is clear something is wrong. The minute the blade hits an obstacle it cannot immediately cut through, specifically soft cheese, it just stops trying. The sound changes and it sounds like the motor is running without the blade following. I suspect something stopped making good contact within the motor. It is a great pity, because now I cannot use it anymore for most of the things that I did in the past - I suspect it was the almond paste that did it in. And I didn't even own it for 2 months... :( Now I am looking for something more powerful to handle my whims so I will not be buying this chopper again.

However, it is really impressive what such a little thing could pull off, and I guess in the end I got what was coming to me. Overall, it is really great and, for the simple jobs it is intended, I cannot recommend it enough!!!!

This looked to be a nice little chopper. I like the size and it chops well. HOWEVER, with just a month of use(maybe 2X/wk), it is now virtually impossible to get the top to click onto the stem, which makes it go. There is some imperfection, and I have struggled and struggled to get the thing to fit together, and I have finally thrown the thing in the trash. If you want to raise your blood pressure over a simple chopping job, buy this. Otherwise, FORGET IT! Worst purchase I've ever made on Amazon.
