The flip top lid makes refilling a breeze and just a glance at the electronic filter indicator lets you know when it is time to change the Brita replacement filter. This medium water pitcher comes with 1 water filter, which should be changed every 40 gallons or about 2 months for best results.
Important information
Your water filter pitcher can be ready to use in a few steps. Wash your hands before touching the filter, then flush it with cold water for 15 seconds. Insert the filter into the reservoir. Add cold tap water. The first three pitchers of filtered water may contain carbon dust. Use on plants or discard. Replace the water filter every 40 gallons or 2 months. Substances reduced may not be in all users' water.

Addressing some of the complaints i've seen:
- "It pours weird" - Uh, what? Every pitcher has a unique pour, and you should get used to it in about 1 use. I never have spilling issues. I'm pretty baffled by how many people how mentioned it pours weird...i'm worried about how they deal with everyday issues in life
- "You can't fill it all the way or water seeps into the handle" - This is kind of true, but not to a degree that's problematic. The water basin does have a gap where if you fill it 90%+, you'll have water leak into the handle, but i've had this same issue on other britas, and the solution is...ta-da, just fill it 90% and stop before the water starts spilling over. The way people complain, it seemed like this would be an issue at 50% fill. It's barely a problem.
- "Water storage is small" - Not particularly unique to this Brita or the fact that it's stainless; it's a medium size Brita. I think the size is quite perfect; any larger and it starts getting a bit heavy
Pros:
- Looks sleek, doesn't get as noticeable hard water stains as other fully clear Brita's
- Perfect capacity (in my opinion)
- Seems durable, no issues so far
Cons:
- There is a small gap that water can seep into the handle from if you overfill
Summary:
- Overall, this has at worst, the same issues as every other Brita pitcher I've used, if not less, and it looks very premium. Amazon reviewers who are decrying the pitcher are being overly dramatic. I'm glad I purchased it and I know a few friends have purchased one after seeing mine; recommended highly!.
It also is standard size (or maybe a tad smaller) so it is heavier (when filled) than our last one, but it takes up less room (nice.) We are both a little handicapped so we find we cannot fill it to capacity or lifting it to fill the kettle is awkward (for US... not for the average person, so again, this is an issue specific to our situation and cannot be reflected back to the unit, but still is something that some people might want to consider.)
It does not make it extremely clear but it takes the regular / standard / old style filters (which I think is a good thing, as they are more plentiful and are easier/cheaper to buy in bulk.) I am hoping that what has happened is that Brita has just kept the style/shape/size of the older filter and designed the newer systems around that shape rather than requiring people to figure out WHICH filter fits in which filter system.
Anyway... Brita, to me, has been a superstar for many years... this unit has not been any different... and it LOOKS nice.
I am definitely glad to have bought it, but it's not incredibly high-quality.
This is identical to the one I had for several years. Unfortunately it was on the bottom rack of the dishwasher and the heat dry cycle was not turned off, IF you place it in the dishwasher make sure not to run Heat Dry,
This unit is worth the few extra dollars to me because we have very HARD water. The water spots and the yellow from the IRON film make the clear plastic units look horrible. The brushed stainless steel and smoked gray plastic not only camouflage the water spots, but it LOOKS CLASSY!
When the water begins to yellow the plastic inside we spray it with IRON OUT, wash it in warm soapy water and it's good as new.
It also has the electronic filter indicator a feature I've come to depend on for quality water.
Top reviews from other countries
- Much more aesthetically pleasing than typical clunky, white plastic Britas
- Good water capacity--fills up to 1-1.5 litres at a time--although not too heavy when full
- More slender shape fits better into smaller or tighter fridges
- "Brita Filter Life" indicator on top is handy if you remember to reset each time you replace a filter
- Can confirm that the stainless steel is virtually smudge-proof (I was worried about finger prints.. no issues here though)
- Convenient fill-up and easy to clean
CONs:
- In order to fill completely, you have to fill the top twice (and wait for filtration once in between). This is similar to most other Britas
- Construction is reliable/sturdy but is a little cheaper than expected for the "premium class" Brita. The entire Brita is clear plastic--the stainless steel is just a thin sheet fused over top for the looks
SUMMARY:
Same, dependable Brita--just in a sexier package. Looks great, especially alongside a roster of stainless steel appliances in your kitchen. Not much difference in product quality though relative to other Britas
