SUPER Tent
I bought this tent to go to iceland in September of this year. I bought it because of the good reviews that showed that it was clearly water and windproof. So on Sept 11 we were off for 2 weeks. If you know anything about Iceland you know that it can be extremely windy sometimes hurricane like and also have torrential rains. Well, we experienced both. My friend brought a very expensive brand new high end tent called Big A.... The first night we dealt with heavy rain and the next morning extreme wind. My friends high end tent broke a pole and it ripped through his rain fly. This tent remained steadfast and water tight for the entire 2 weeks. I was a little worried to begin with because I didnt have room to bring the footprint but alas I didn't need it. These tents are incredible and I will probably never buy another brand, Keep up the great work ALPS

I absolutely loved this tent, full disclosure however this is the first tent I have personally purchased. I couldn't be happier, super easy to setup with one, even better as a pair. I got the 3 person because I'm 6'4" 250lbs and didn't want to crowd my wife, great decision. I was able to get a queen sized air mattress in with no problem. The vestibule on either side offers a good amount of space, we had two large packs and a decent sized cooler and other gear in the vestibules, worked very well for us. Tested in Utah 105+ during the day I think we saw overnights of 35 to 40 in the tent. Fairly comfortable in both, the fly absolutely needs to come off in high temps. The tent is very Saturday, we got some serious wind for a couple days and a few nights, no damage and was able to sleep without trouble. You could here the heavy gusts and trees but the tent was pretty solid. I would definitely buy it again. I'll update this as it gets used more, we go out atleast one weekend a month. 7600ft test coming in a few weeks

Easy to put up on the first attempt (10-15 min. - which was at the campsite:-). Could use a couple more pockets for storage in the interior. Not tested by any weather, but seems to "breathe" well. Not big enough for three adults, unless someone wants to curl-up in the vestibule! Recommend you also get the Extreme 3 floor saver or a comparable tarp for under the floor. All in all, a really nice tent!

I'm really happy with this tent and don't think I could have made a better choice other than getting the Outfitter model with heavier floor material. I purchased it for a motorcycle trip through the Rockies and back through the Black Hills after I realized my old tent had finally given up the ghost and was unrepairable. I did a lot of research before making my choice considering Eureka, Marmot, Mountain Hardware and several other brands. Like most reviewers will tell you it's a little heavy for back packing, and you'll probably need to split the load between 2 people. However, it packs small and was easy to carry on the bike. It is truly a 2 adult person tent. You might get a 3rd person in it if they are small, but it will be very tight. The floor protector foot print is an absolute must, or else use a tarp. Be warned the floor protector is also light fabric and developed 2 small holes on the first trip. Police your camp site well before settin it up. A heavier material would have been a better option, but it did it's job and protected the tent floor from damage. I experienced a wide variety of weather on it's maiden trip and was extemely pleased. I was concerned like most people about the factory sealed floor seam, but had no problem during a heavy thunder storm with high winds. Other peoples tents collapsed, but the Alps took it all and kept me warm & dry. The rain fly is great but the zippers are a little difficult to reach. I'll live with that trade off for the awesome vestibule/gear storage area. Pitching it the first time is a little difficult because of the pole design, but I had been forewarned about the instruction sheet and looked hard at the picture on line. Pitching it a couple of times before leaving on the trip made all the difference. It's actually very easy and quick to set up once you're familiar with it. Overall this a great car/motorcycle camping tent awesome for 2 people not for 3.

FANTASTIC Tent for the price. Light weight for it's size, very versitile and thought out...

Usually tent sizes are off as the "person size" goes.... This is really a 2 person + gear tent....

Plenty of room, comfortably for two people and gear.

Easy setup, Poles go together pretty easily. Only thing I dislike is the Aluminum colored tabs sometimes pull out of the rod when disassembling the tent, a little glue will fix this issue.

Nice rain cover, and the doors zippers are smooth and durable.

-Noticed some inconsistencies in the bug netting but I'm not too picky on the looks / weave designs.

I'd highly recommend buying the floor / ground cover for this tent. I'll buy from ALPS again!

The stitching and quality of zippers looks like it will hold up to use for a long time to come. I had no problem with zippers catching on the material. Set up is pretty quick - easier with 2 people than doing it alone. Aluminum poles look to be durable. There are mesh areas on the top of the tent so you can watch the stars if the rain fly isn't on the tent. Tent also has mesh on both ends with a zipper to access the ventilation windows on the fly. I kept the vents open and had no problems with condensation.

There is plenty of room for 2 adults.

I was somewhat disappointed in the rain fly. It adds about 2.5 feet to front and back sides of the tent making it a pretty significant sized foot print for a 3 person tent. However, after sleeping in it during a thunder storm, I appreciated the fact that I was dry and had a dry spot to put my shoes on outside of my tent.

If you are primarily interested in backpacking, this would probably not be your first choice as it is rather heavy and large when rolled up.

Pros:
Waterproof without any additional waterproofing necessary
Lightweight yet durable
Aluminum poles are AMAZING, never going back to fiberglass.
Tons of vestibule space on both sides, never had to bring my gear inside the tent during the past couple weeks of camping in the Tetons.
Quick and easy to get up/down
Poles get clipped on instead of having to slide through those stupid mesh straps.

Cons:
I don't like the 3 pole system, but whatever. Personal preference.
SMALL. As with any other 3 person tent, don't expect to fit 3 adult in this tent. Unless you want to sleep 2 inside and 1 outside. Or if the three of you are VERY intimate. Just not gonna happen. Without any gear in the tent, two people will sleep shoulder to shoulder.

I love this tent.
I've taken it kayaking, backpacking, and regular tent camping.
Setup is a breeze alone or with a friend - less than 5 minutes start to finish.
As with any "3-person" tent, it's great if you're camping with 2 good friends. If they're acquaintances, consider leaving one of them at home, as you will probably be making some elbow contact throughout the night. With 3 in the tent, there's no room for backpacks and such, but the vestibules are huge and provide tons of space to keep your things out of the rain.
The quality is fine - the floor is a little thin, but provided you sweep your tent pad and are using a groundsheet and good tent etiquette (take off your shoes, people!), it should last for years. The zippers aren't super heavy duty, but I haven't had any problems with them so far. Walls and fly feel sturdy and weatherproof. I've used it in torrential thunderstorms and days of steady rain, and it hasn't leaked once.
No, it's not the MOST compact or lightest tent out there, but you'd be looking at several hundreds of dollars more before you're down to a truly lightweight backpacking tent. It's fine if you're not looking to scrape every ounce out of your pack.
The only reason I'm taking off a star is because mine was shipped without pegs or guylines.

Just completed a five day backpacking trip with my new tent. It was great, easy to set up and lots of storage. For me, it is not really a three person tent though, as it is a very good two person tent, hence my four star rating. I also bought an Extreme Two tent that is in my opinion really just big enough for a single. Good tent, just tight for two. Definitely enough storage in both tents and I like the vestibules very much. My wife and I will be using the Extreme Three for all of our backpacking trips. The Extreme Two will go to our son, who loves it.
