How It Works
|
|
|
---|---|---|
Saves timeIt fills like a typical trash can, but it only needs to be emptied half as often. That's fewer trips to the curb and more time for other things. |
Saves moneyCrushing down trash fits more garbage in each bag, so fewer bags get used each week. Those savings add up week after week, year after year! |
Saves the planetImagine the number of bags you've saved using by compacting your trash, multiplied by every home in your community! That's a significantly less amount of added plastic bags going to landfills. Basically, we are reducing the trash it takes to contain our trash! Fewer bags in landfills is less trash there too. |

Stylish and ElegantTrash cans are out in the open for all to see in most homes. This higher grade stainless steel is thicker than most and has the durable fingerprint resistant finish to keep it looking cleaner between wipe-downs. |
Quality We Stand BehindWe are proud of the TK10 Trash Krusher and have made it so you will love it too. It has been made with good solid materials that will last a good long while of regular use. Please keep proof of purchase for warranty purposes! |
What to Expect?(1) Compaction Device (CD) wrapped up in the box. (2) Plastic Liner with bag fixer (to keep bags up and invisible when the lid is closed). (3) Stainless Steel Can with lid attached. Slip the liner in the can and fit the CD into the lid! (Side note: make sure to remove the cardboard from the underside of the lid or the CD won't stay). |

I was really surprised at how much you can compact trash just by hand. Maybe not as much as a motorized one, but VERY close and for a lot less money. This trash can is very well-designed without being too gimmicky. There's another one I saw that looked good, but you needed to buy special bags and this was available at a better price (open box). There's smart touches like high-density foam underneath the handle on the top, where your knuckles might otherwise get bruised. It's very well thought-through. It's also just a well-designed step can, crushing aside. I was afraid the lid might be too heavy, but everything works great. It's also very nice-looking, as trash cans go. I think it's a great value; it's as nice as fancy stainless trash cans people regularly pay $100 that are JUST step cans. It looks and feels like a quality step can, so you can use it just like you would any other durable step can this size.
You can definitely just use regular kitchen trash bags with this. It might be a good idea to get bags that are a little heavier weight (pushing the trash around is going to stress the bag more), but I haven't had much trouble with using good quality drawstring bags (nothing special).
I bought this open-box/returned, and it was dented in the front (I knew this when buying it). With that being said, it must've gone through something crazy because I wouldn't say it's easy to dent, at all. All of the materials are heavy gauge; it's sturdier than I was expecting it to be, even if I had paid full price. I've had it for a month or two and it feels like the kind of thing that's not going to break easily.
My only complaint is that the inner can that holds the trash bag in place is a bit flimsy. That was damaged in my open-box unit as well, and unlike the dent in the front, I could definitely see why that happened. The plastic on these parts is a bit too thin and whoever had it before me had broken it. It still works to hold the bag, though, so that's a bit impressive, in a way. It's the only part of it I think would be likely to break under normal circumstances, and if it does it still works just fine!
All in all, this is great. It's really surprising how much room you can save just by manually compacting the trash, and it's a really good trash can, those qualities aside.
I will say I have fingerprints all over mine so it’s not fingerprint proof! But I don’t care!!!
My only complaint is that the tamper is a tad difficult to get to stick back in place. You have to hold the lid down with one hand while pulling up on the handle pretty hard to get it to click into place. My youngest daughter has some problems with this, so sometimes we find the tamper has fallen on top of the trash, leaving a hole in the lid. Yuck. This is a small ding to the overall product design, but it's significant enough to cause an issue so I knocked one star off for that.
Overall, awesome product! It was really weird to see only one bag in our huge garbage can on collection day!
This 'new' item was clearly used. The box was re-taped closed, no top spacer, plastic parts scuffed, lift cylinder out of place. Thanks to a previous review I knew how to refit the lift cylinder.
The 'pusher' in the lid is quite heavy. Good for crushing trash, bad for opening with a food pedal. It takes much more force than other lids. That can't be good for durability.
The lid sticks down on the base whenever you push down the trash, maybe because it was damaged during shipping from lack of proper packaging. The lid shifts around instead of on top of the base edges.
