It's heavy and sturdy, just like you'd expect from an item this ...
I'm an avid summer road road cyclist and was looking for a way to train for Lotoja this year - preferably without having to go to the gym and dealing with the bros. You know what I mean. Unfortunately, I live in a harsh winter weather climate which doesn't allow for outdoor training in the winter.Enter the Kinetic Road Machine Trainer. I've had this for over a month and have spent at least 20 hours on it total. things that I have observed:+The unit is very well built. It's heavy and sturdy, just like you'd expect from an item this price+The trainer came 100% fully assembled. All I had to do is replace the skewer on my bike with the one provided, screw in the mounting points, and set the resistance drum against the tire. Easy.+The resistance feels really good. It increases as you pedal harder, so you can intensify your workout just by switching gears. Just like you can outside.-More of a recommendation than a con. I can see some of the tread on my back tire wearing off. For a few extra bucks you can buy a tire made by the same company specially suited for resistance training. Kinetic Trainer Tire, 700 x 25, GreenLastly, something that I was really curious about before I purchased. My road bike (Giant Propel) feels much better IMO than your run-of-the-mill stationary bike at the gym. If you're looking for something to keep you in shape until riding season, look no further!

Some reviewers state this trainer is loud, others say quiet. Fact is the Kinetic Road Machine 2.0 is much quieter than previous trainers I've rode but it's not quiet. I'm able to watch TV but with the volume turned up more than normal. It's not so loud to wake up everyone in the house. It does have a realistic road feel but I find the trainer more difficult than riding the road. As an example, on the road I am able to maintain a 20 mph average speed over a 20 mile relatively flat course. On the trainer, thus far, my best speed over the same distance was an 18 mph average. Getting the trainer into the mid 20's feels like a sprint. The faster you go on the trainer the more resistance you feel. "Riding into the wind" is an accurate description. I'll be curious to see if my speed increases on the road after a winter of training on my Kinetic. Overall I love the trainer, it's construction, ease of setup and operation. Just so you know the Road Machine 2.0 comes completely assembled. All you need to do is fold out the legs, replace your rear wheel skewer, and mount the bike. There are YouTube videos if you want to see the simple setup before purchasing. It doesn't come with a front wheel riser (which I highly recommend) so make sure you include that in your purchase.

Great, solid construction and very easy to mount bike. Comes with different couplers to mount different bikes. My wife's bike and my bike take different coulplers to mount to the stand. It takes me a little less than 10 minutes to switch from one bike to the other and I'm not hurrying. I purchased this trainer as an inexpensive stationary bike, considering I already owned a mountain bike. My physical therapist recommended it after knee surgery for a torn meniscus. I am a recreational cyclist and am definitely not serious. If you try to stand while peddling, you can not sway from side to side as you tend to tip. The trainer makes a loud humm, that gets louder the faster you go. It is not overly annoying, but if you are listening to music from an external (not headphones) speaker you will definitely have to turn it up. I highly recommend this trainer and am planning to purchase a second one so I don't have to switch the bikes. Ironic I know, I purchase a bike trainer to work out, but am too lazy to switch the bikes out.

Very pleased with this trainer purchase. I did quite a bit of research between this unit and the CycleOps fluid 2 trainer and it worked out well. Set up was easy - I watched a video online just to make sure that I did it correctly. The trainer is very well built and solid. It holds the bike securely and I have no concern for tipping this unit over. The trainer provides plenty of resistance and it is reasonably quiet. Pedaling is smooth and it provides good response as you accelerate. I also purchased Garmin speed and cadence sensors to use with Zwift. I did not purchase the inRide Power Meter since I have had issues with bluetooth pairing on my computer and there were a number of bad reviews on Amazon regarding pairing the sensor.

Just received my new Kinetic Road Machine today. DEFECTIVE! My unit has almost no resistance at all. Even on the highest gear of my bicycle, it hardly is any workout at all (and I am fat and in lousy physical condition, trying to rehab my knee). I hear a slight gurgling sound from the case, and even after 15 minutes at a decent pace the fins were barely lukewarm. I will contact Kinetic tomorrow, and see what they say. See the picture with the bike in the highest gear possible. I will try to upload a video of me on the highest gear and turning the pedals easily with with one hand. (UPDATE 3/19/17) Kinetic Customer Support shipped me a replacement Resistance Unit... but this replacement is just as bad as the original one... It appears that this manufacturer has suffered a bad run of these, since most of the reviews I read are quite good. I am returning this one to Amazon, and will try buying another one through a local dealer to see if I can get one which is not defective; will update this review then. (UPDATE 3/28/17) Bought another one from R E I, and it suffers the same defect as the original one. This is now 3 RU's in a row which are defective. It is hard to believe that Kinetic is unaware of this problem and that we're not seeing more reviews here which point to this problem. WATCH THE VIDEO: SEE HOW EASILY I CAN TURN THE PEDALS WITH MY BARE HAND - BICYCLE ON THE HIGHEST GEAR... At this high gear, it should be very hard to turn with two full legs peddling it!

I have used this trainer for a couple hundred miles so far and I love it. I've got my Trek DS 8.5 set up on it and I'm running a Michelin street tire on the back. The noise is not terrible but I do have to crank the TV to hear over it. Folks in other parts of the house can hear it but it isn't so much that they have to ask me to stop.
I have mine set up in front of a TV so I can put on an episode of my favorite shows and crank away without boredom. I do intervals, spinning, long sessions of cranking, basically mixing it up to keep my workouts fresh. I can do big chain-ring, out-of-the-saddle slogging and it always feels stable and has taken anything I've tried so far.
The resistance is very close to real-life road riding. A very food workout that's keeping me ride-ready during the winter months.
The $$ is more than a lot of the other trainers I've looked in to but I have not regretted it once. Very solid, stable, high-quality piece of equipment that I look forward to using for many years. Well worth the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good a little mislead
Reviewed in Canada on May 19, 2019
The trainer itself is great. Comes basically pre assembled. It works well. Quiet enough that I don’t wake my significant other when I cycle and he sleeps.

However it doesn’t tell you that this DOES NOT include the Bluetooth adapter for the app. You need to purchase that separately for 135$ and Stick it onto the device. It is compatible with same- I purchased the Bluetooth adaptor at my local bike shop and it installs nice and easy. Quick. Connects to app immediately.

I would say next time I’d purchase the road machine with the Bluetooth already included cause I’m pretty sure I ended up spending the same as a new one that has the adaptor.

Also important to note it is recommended you get a trainer tyre.
