wonderfully life changing trike, worth the adversity

wonderfully life changing trike, worth the adversity
This trike helped my health incredibly. I thought trikes were extremely expensive, and I had no idea they could be less than $400. If I had known, I would have bought a trike 10 years ago.It was definitely shipped poorly--the chain guard arrived bent to the point of not usable, and some protective materials that were supposed to keep the trike safe during shipping had fallen off, which meant there were holes poked through the box where the axle protruded through the box.But the frame arrived good, the wheels arrived good, and everything else was ok. My spouse who has known about bikes for a long time was able to assemble it despite the lack of instructions. The booklets included weren't even about this particular machine! Wow!So I was lucky my spouse knew what to do, or we would have had to pay to have it professionally assembled. One part related to the axle was wrong, and my spouse was stumped about a spacer being the wrong size, phoning a friend for advice, and he eventually figured it out.It seemed very flimsy at first and it was difficult for me to trust it. Then about two weeks in, a part broke, where a wheel attached to the axle--it was supposed to be a D but had become an O. We couldn't figure out how to fix it, but we took it to our (car) mechanic who fixed it, enjoying a challenge. Now it's ok. But the part that was weak, it didn't need to be weak. I wish they had made it strong to begin with. My spouse called, and they sent us a new wheel, which was sweet, but it would be better if they made it strong to begin with. The seat has has an issue that started about a month in, with the conical springs--a conical spring moved into the wrong place, but my spouse fixes it periodically--every five days or so. He says that's not so great, but the seat is comfortable and ok otherwise, very large, which I like. This trike is amazing for being inexpensive, light, cute, and a good size for my height--I'm 5'4" with short legs. It's amazing for changing my life by helping me have health. My spouse and I ride in our neighborhood early every morning, and how did I live without it? I needed it really bad.But a lot of things about it could be better, with shipping and documentation and part strength. I'm glad we were able to overcome the issues. I don't need a chain guard. We never put the basket on because we were trying to keep it as small as possible in hopes it would fit into our car, but we haven't tried to fold it, as our car is small, and I don't think it would fit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect ride for work.
Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2017
I specifically purchased this bike for work. I'm required to carry around tools and trikes are a common tool for us mechanics to get around the factory floor.

After several weeks of riding, nearly every day, I can honestly say I'm 100% happy with this product. The frame feels sturdy and strong and I like the fact I can fold it up and lock it with a simple cable lock. (To prevent co-workers from taking it out for a joy ride when I'm not working). Unlike other trikes my coworkers ride, this bike is direct drive and I am a total fan. Drive systems in others tend to break down and cause headaches. And it's still quick. I like the high bars and low seat. The three 20" wheels keeps the bike small and compact. Perfect for squeezing into certainly places around the plant where the robots run. The seat is comfortable and I have no complaints. I am super happy with the front suspension as it makes for a smooth ride. No other trikes came with suspension. Working in a glass plant, there tends to be quite a bit of broken glass on the floor. I did purchase a few solid rubber inserts for the tires when I bought this.

I can honestly say, this is probably the best work trike I've ridden. Worth every penny against others that cost 3 times the price. I'm very happy with this bike.
