Viper 5706V 2-Way Car Security with Remote Start System
Features
Responder LC3 – the 3rd generation of Responder, complete with SST One Mile Range, the new Priority icons and text seen on a 20% larger liquid-crystal display, an onboard lithium-ion rechargeable battery with micro-USB recharging – all in the slimmest display remote on the market.
Combining one of the best features of Responder with all the 'New Technology Platform' advances introduced with one of the Best of Innovations Responder LE, Responder LC3 systems come with one 2-Way LC3 SST one mile range remote and a companion 1-way long range remote.
Responder LC3 lets you command and monitor your vehicle like never before, with our Priority icons – simple and prioritized for easy use - plus clear text labels on the large LCD screen. With the Priority User Interface, the five buttons control 24 functions on each of two cars! And with the Priority Icon Map, the most important icons reside in the center of the large LCD screen, 3 times larger than the less-critical icons positioned on the edges of the screen. It’s undeniably the most sophisticated one mile range LCD remote ever!
In remote start mode, if Active Temp Check is selected, Responder LC3 will display Temperature (in either Fahrenheit or Celsius) instead of the time (the default display). Now you can see the actual temperature inside the vehicle, before walking through the weather to get to it! If it isn’t warm enough inside your car yet, use Runtime Reset to extend your runtime. Don’t worry about forgetting about your car – Responder LC3 reminds you 3 minutes before your time runs out, with an audible tone, a vibration, and on the screen.
If anything happens to your vehicle, Responder LC3 notifies you right away if you are within range, playing the Revenger siren tones from inside your pocket. If anything has happened to your vehicle during your absence, LC3 spells out what happened when you unlock your doors: 'Shock Sensor' for example:
you can silence your car’s siren and only be alerted on your remote, with Silent Mode2 sirenless arming. Arm your alarm with the door open and Responder LC3 will alert you – audibly and with large readable text: 'Door Open'. Responder LC3 gives you an unprecedented level of control.
Only the important icons are displayed - unused icons disappear from the screen to keep the display clean and simple. 'Ghosted' icons – outlined icons only without their typical solid body - indicate that you’ve changed something. For instance, while a solid padlock icon shows your alarm is armed and your doors are locked, an outlined padlock indicates your doors are locked in Valet Mode. The words 'Valet Mode' appear to make sure you’re clear on the status of your car.
Some of the many New Technology Platform features incorporated into the system include:
- D2D Serial Data Port – Gives installers plug-and-play connection to all the other XPRESSKIT interfaces
- Virtual Tach – No tachometer wire connection required
- Flex Relays Onboard for Remote Start and Light Flash – eliminates the need for additional relays 80% of the time
- Control Center – combines the Status LED and Valet Switch with the 2-way Antenna, making the switch easy to locate, and eliminating drilling of any holes in the dash
- Priority User Interface and Features – including SmartStart, Timer Start, Runtime Reset, TempCheck and Silent Mode2 siren-less arming modes

Product Description
The Viper 5706v Responder LC3 is a complete security and remote start system with a full one mile range. The remote has easy to understand priority icons and a text screen on a LCD display. This allows you to command and monitor the vehicle with simple and prioritized buttons. The five buttons control up to 24 different functions on two cars! Plus, it is the slimmest display remote on the market today but still packed with the latest features. Not only is this a security system but it also has remote start capabilities. If the Active Temp Check is selected, the Responder will display the temperature inside of the vehicle instead of the time. This comes in handy as it lets you view the temperature before actually walking to your car. Not cool, or warm enough in your car yet? Use the Runtime reset to extend your runtime and let it reach the perfect conditions. If anything happens to your vehicle, the security system will notify you right away if you are within range, playing the Revenger siren tones.

Difficulty 9: This is not for your average DIY. You must be able to read factory wiring schematics and figure out which wires you need to splice or cut. You must be comfortable with wiring for this as it requires you to install many modules if you want the full functionality of this remote start alarm. I installed the remote start plus 2 window modules to roll up/down my 4 windows and a bypass module. You should also be comfortable taking apart your interior panels and running wiring through your firewall to the battery.
Another reviewer said they had a difficult time finding an installer because Viper is unique. It's not. It's part of the DEI family and is the premium brand of DEI (Directed). Other brands of DEI are Clifford, Autostart, Automate, Python, etc. Any competent shop will have a trained DEI installer since DEI brands are the most popular brands available to consumers. Best Buy installs Viper alarms along with many others.
Warranty: It's in the fine print. If it's not purchased and installed by an authorized retailer, you get no warranty. The upside of buying from Amazon or best buy and doing it yourself is that you can return the unit if it's defective upon initial install. You also save a lot of money. I had 1 shop quote me $1200 labor to install it. Granted it was a high end shop, but even $400 is a lot of money you can save doing it yourself.
My 5706V has been installed for 2 years and there has been 1 hiccup. When the remote runs out of battery, even if the LCD still displays something, the unit can get out of sync with the remote. Essentially, the remote doesn't send a powerful enough signal to the antenna and the unit gets confused. It will stop responding to any commands. The fix is to disconnect all the connections to the brain box and reconnect. I found this out the hard way. The troubleshooting guide doesn't Make sure your remote is charged regularly. My remote has had the same battery and with 2 years on it, I usually have it on the charger once a week now. It charges to full quickly still. The alarm will tell you when it sees a low charge on your remote by giving one extra beep when you disarm it. That's a good reminder to put the remote on a charger.
As far as functionality, I love it. Windows roll up and down the way I want them to (modules sold separately), remote start works consistently, and the LCD lets me know if the truck is locked or not. Signal penetration is very good. I've been in a parking garage 2 floors of thick concrete above my truck and was still able to remote start it. I can be inside my school building and remote start before walking the 150ish yards to my truck.
Conclusion: if you have any doubts, buy it from an authorized installer. If you are confident in yourself or your friends, DIY and save a ton of money.
P.S YOU DO NOT NEED THE BITWRITER SO PROGRAM THE SYSTEM. JUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION. IF THERE BOT IN YOUR BOX, LOOK IT UP ON YAHOO/GOOGLE. The Internet is your friend. Use it. Thanks guys. All in all great product without any problems that are user/installer related. Have a good day.
