Delicious Cake Pops!

The recipes are endless: vanilla cake pops, chocolate, red velvet, apple cider, maraschino cherry, almond, lemon, gingerbread. And that's just the cake. The real fun starts when you candy coat and frost 'em.

Nonstick Baking Plates

Making cake pops couldn't be easier. Simply spray with oil, pour the batter, close the lid, bake for a few minutes, and voila: perfect, round cake balls. Pop them out with ease, then wipe down to clean.

Sweet or Savory

Make more than just dessert. (Told you the recipes are endless.) Like the bacon cheddar biscuit bites above, or hush puppies, wonton cups, pizza bites, Swedish meatballs, and more. Get creative with it. (Photo by Colin Erricson).

Chocolate Cake Pops

Directions:

1. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg and vanilla. Using a mixer, blend until smooth.

2. Add coffee and continue mixing until coffee is evenly incorporated into mixture.

3. Fill each cooking reservoir with about 1 tablespoon of batter.

4. Bake 4 to 5 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a cake pop comes out clean.

5. Allow to cool and glaze or coat, as desired.

Makes About 6-1/2 Dozen Cake Pops

Tip: If you don’t have buttermilk on hand, pour 3/4 teaspoons lemon juice or vinegar into a glass measuring cup. Add milk to equal 1/4 cup. Allow to stand 5 to 10 minutes, then use in place of buttermilk in this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup freshly brewed hot coffee
  • Glaze or coating of choice

I was concerned this would be complicated or i would need a special recipe due to a review we saw on here but in the end there was nothing easier to use. Here is what we did, we got a box of cake mix ingredients needed were eggs water and oil, pluged in the machine so it had time to heat, and in a bowl mixed the ingredients, we thene put everything in an empty water bottle with a sport drink top to make it easier to pour, we sprayed a bit of oil in the molds of the machine and started filling them, 3 to 5 min later we opened it amd theye were perfectly cooked , however the first 3 i did had the time to expand by the time we filled the 6 others and closed the machine so there was some mix that got out of the mold, we just peeled of the extra and still had a ball, second time we put the mix in the machine faster and they came out even more perfect, took us about 30 min to cook a whole box of cake mix, by the time the next batch was ready the previous one was alrwady eaten, we were able to pile up the last 4 or 5 batches for a nice pic,Now the top part does not cook as much cause it takes time to expand and touch the heated mold, but if you want the cake to be a golden brown all around all you got to do is open the machine 2 minutes in spin the cake over and let cook with the top open for another 2 minutes. These cake balls are prety small i would say the size of a quarter.Personally we ate theme with no icing or anything almost like doughnut balls. We also tried sticking a peice of chocolate inside before closing the top part and it works great the chocolate fell the the center and the cake puffed up all around it.As for the cleaning nothing a small peice of damp paper towel cant fix just had a few drops of oil that leaked the back of the machine.Hope this helps ppl who are hesitating on buying this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect cake pops!
Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2015
First off, this mini cake pop maker is a life saver! I used to make cake pops the traditional way with crumbled cake and frosting, then followed by rolling them into balls but that whole process took far too much time so I decided to invest in this machine. With this machine I don't have to worry about the consistency of the cake pop and the frosting (when it's too moist the cake pop will break through the lollipop stick or it can sometimes break when you coat your chocolate due to the weight- very frustrating!).

The first time I used this machine, I used brownie mix and it turned out to be a disaster. The brownies would stick on the non sticking plate even though I rubbed/sprayed cooking spray on it every single time. The second time I used the cake mix box sold in stores and they came out to be perfect! Greasing the plates were not required because they popped right out and in perfect shape! When I poured too much cake batter into the maker, it'd overflow and leave extra cake scraps but it's easy to remove. Some of the balls had "Saturn" rings around it and I kept it that way without trimming the edges because it wasn't too visible and it kind of gave the cake pop a natural lollipop look to it. In the end I coated my cake balls with Wilton Candy Melts which can be purchased in Walmart, Michaels, or Joanns.

Pros:
Easy to use
Easy to clean
Makes the cake pops extremely fast! (3-5 minutes for a batch)

Cons:
Machine gets extremely hot so make sure to touch the handle for open and close access

Overall my experience with this machine was good. I wasn't too happy with this machine at first because my pops failed (with the brownie mix).. but practice makes perfect right? They came out perfect the second time (as shown in my pictures when I used cake mix) so don't be discourage if you fail the first few times because you need to get the hang of it first. It is recommended that you do test the machine to make sure it works properly and test your cake balls before you decide to make cake pops for any occasions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stop looking, this one is great!
Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2021
This is the one you want!
It arrived on time in great condition. The instructions are easy to follow and provide good tips and tricks to make the final product work. Recipes were basic but worked well and very easy to follow though they don’t make quite as many cake pops as promised.

I think more than 9 would have been hard to pipe in quickly enough, close the lid, cook and unload without some overcooking or undercooking. I thought this batch size was good and it really only took about 20 min to make the whole lot of 3 dozen. Excessive overflow is unlikely and didn’t leak past the edge of the cooker so my counter didn’t suffer.

Cleanup was a quick wipeout. I will say liking the surface with a paper towel was quick, easy and probably helped them pop out quickly.

The cakes turned out yummy and stood up to coating and decorating very well. Kids loved them of course but the adults liked the cake inside so a success for this maker and recipes provided.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use From the Very First Batch!
Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2021
After reading some of the reviews, I was a little nervous trying my Babycakes Pop Maker for the first time. I am making these for my daughter's bridal shower in a month, so I decided to do a test run today. I followed the advice of some of the reviewers and used a recipe that gave me a thick batter. For the first batch, I used a half tablespoon. While the instructions say to fill with a tablespoon, a heaping half seemed safer. The first batch was perfect. We only used the oil spray every two batches. Be sure to spray lightly. After two batches, my husband suggested following the alternate instructions from Babycakes to use a zip lock bag with the corner cut to squeeze the batter in. Much faster, neater, and more efficient. Because these were turning out so well, I did some research to see if I could freeze these, and read that they freeze beautifully. So, I am done! We made 120+ pops with maybe 3 or 4 duds (underfilled the maker). Not bad! I bought Ghiardelli chocolate melts, the combo pack of sticks, bags and ties, and a stand. I am looking forward to decorating these, but I wanted to post this review in case anyone else is too timid to try these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super divertida y facilísima máquina para hacer mini paletitas de pastel.
Reviewed in Mexico on August 13, 2017
