Great Investment!
I started on a cheap, basic pair and soon decided to upgrade. These got me to several peaks around the Tahoe Rim last winter! I especially appreciate the heel riser saving my achilles' going uphill. And the extra grip from the outer set of "teeth" have been a great help on the more icy approaches and descents! And the Boa system is just fun, convenient, and easy. I went with the 22", being that with a day pack and winter gear, I probably weigh around 120lbs or so (110lbs w/o).

Wow I love these snowshoes they are so light and easy to walk/run in when out playing in the snow. I have taken them multiple times out on the lakes for an average of 3 mile hike. Granted we have only gotten about 6" of snow so far except a few areas where the snow seems to blow and pile more. Work great for walking mountain bike trails also being more narrow than my old pair (yukon Charlies 25") I am able to walk down the single track bike trails no problem and no more having to walk 1/2 on the trail and 1/2 on the slope which wears on your ankles after a while. Grip is incredible on the bottom for going up or down any slope when going across country. Tried them once in a little deeper snow but it was a softer snow so I did sink a little but not as far as my boyfriend who just had his boots on with out any snowshoes, so I did float over the softer snow. Love how quick they are to put on and off there are no sore spots where the shoe fits tight around my feet which is a huge bonus. I have worn smaller more form fitting boots and also my heavy winter boots and works great with either pair. Heel lift I have only been able to use once for a shorter hill but I can see the more I get out and climb how nice that option will be to not wear on your legs as quick.
Looking forward to many years of use out of these snow shoes! Would highly recommend to anyone to buy these you won't be disappointed

I'm so glad I spent the money for these snowshoes even though I've used them only three times this season. Two items most important: the first is that these snowshoes have metal teeth running along and around the bottom outside edge, which greatly increases the gripping power of these snowshoes versus the other brands everyone else had. And most importantly, the other backpackers all had one or another model of the MSR snowshoes, and it took between ten and twenty minutes for someone to get the bindings nice and tight, whereas with these Tubbs snowshoes I was in and out of the bindings in seconds. And with mittens on! Most especially, in the freezing cold, with frozen show packed up into the snowshoe bindings, the other folks had so much trouble with their bindings. Especially when you can't have your hand out of your glove for more than a minute at a time because it's so cold. They were all just struggling so much. So I was very glad to have spent the extra money even if I don't use them so often.

Note though, be careful when choosing your size in relation to the terrain you'll be using the snowshoes on. Meaning, when you're traveling in reasonably straight uphills and downhills: no problem. When hiking up steep and twisting trails, like in the Catskills, on each step forward, the rear of one snowshoe would overlap the front edge of the other shoe, so when it came time to step forward again, I couldn't. I'd either fall over, or almost fall over, or need to reposition my feet, and either way the frustration was horrible. Or I'd have to exaggerate my step significantly. Not fun. The trails were narrow and steep and tree roots sometimes jutting through the snow. Because these snowshoes, while the right length for my body weight plus pack weight, are just too long for hiking where I was hiking. A shorter snowshoe would have worked a lot better.

I like the fact that there are not a lot of straps to fasten in freezing conditions. But, the heel bar is almost impossible to lift and lower. In fact, I won't even bring these snowshoes when I'm with a group and have steeper conditions. I called Tubbs who said that I should rotate the heal bar back and forth and they would loosen up. I did that, possibly over 70 times and nothing changed. The binding nob sometimes pops open and your boot comes out and that could be a problem when descending. Also, I couldn't pull up the binding knob when on the trail. I wouldn't buy these snowshoes for the listed reasons.

Used only once so far in wet snow.
Worked MUCH better than my $80 Costco snow shoes that failed the first season. These worked well but did sink in the few patches of powder i found (I weigh 230 pounds so got the largest size). The shoe anchoring system works really well and is easy to get in and out of. Well made product that is well designed too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Schneeschuhe
Reviewed in Germany on March 23, 2018

5.0 out of 5 stars sehr empfehlenswert
Reviewed in Germany on April 21, 2016

DAUMEN HOCH!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Schneeschuhe.
Reviewed in Germany on January 31, 2018
