An electromagnetic lock, magnetic lock, is a locking device that consists of an electromagnet and an armature plate used for access control door locks. By attaching this to the door frame and the armature plate to the door, a current passing through the electromagnet attracts the armature plate, holding the access control door lock shut.
Unlike an electric strike access control door lock a magnetic lock has no interconnecting parts.it is possible to bypass the lock by disrupting the power supply. According to the different doors, sometimes will need U brackets or L&Z brackets to support mounting. Also, it can work with networking access control system which includes electric lock, power supply, access controller, exit button, door bell or RFID cards.
Product Wiring:
1.Working mode: fail-safe (Power-on lock,Power off unlock)
2.LED Status indicator: turn on when locking, turn off when unlock
(some mode without LED Status indicator)
3.The red wire is anode “+” electrode ,the black wire is cathode “-”electrode.
Product Installation:
Based on the different doors and swinging direction, additional brackets(original package not included),like U brackets or L&Z brackets maybe require to support mounting. Please refer to the detailed product manual.

1. The included hardware is aluminum for a reason. Any steel screws will muck up the electromagnetic latching. This is probably the #1 or #2 reason why others are not getting good results. My experiments showed that attaching either side with a non-magnetic stainless screw yielded an easily opened door. Fully magnetic screws didn’t work at all. If you use the aluminum screw that came with the product? The handle will probably pull out before the magnet.
2. Alignment and contact are critical. The magnet and the metal plate have to make contact. If they are close, they will stick...just not well. This is another point of failure for installation.
3. Measure twice. Cut once. I used double stick tape to align everything before screwing parts down. Just remember that the tape has some thickness. Foam tape works well. It is compressible.
4. You can use the double stick tape rather than the inserts to make sure the plate doesn’t rotate. (You’ll figure this out as soon as you see the parts and the directions. And when you try to figure out how to install the inserts of the plate without a template.)
5. The instructions are horrible.
6. There’s a little piece of hardware that’ll pop open the latch open for you when the power is off. Remove the spring inside and it’ll turn this feature off.
7. Once this thing is locked, it’s locked and you won’t be able to open it without some difficulty. If you’re using a remote that isn’t reliable, say a Wemo, make sure that you have some way to turn off power if you need to open the latch and the remote isn’t working. Your circuit breaker for the outlet will work. This is, of course, a weakness in the system.
8. If you need the door to remain latched even if power goes out, you’ll need a UPS.
9. I used a Wemo controller to open and close the latch. I have it set on a timer so it locks when I leave in the am and opens when I come back in the pm. It won’t keep out a dedicated thief. But it’ll keep honest visitors honest.
I've now installed 10 of these. Each one took me 4-5 tries and an hour to get it right. You just have to be willing to be patient and get a little creative.
One helpful tip: if you leave the hex screws a little loose when attaching to the L-support plate, it allows for some minor "give" with the lock that will help it catch and lock.
I will say that the little spring loaded button in the armature plate causes this lock to be a little noisy when locking a door that doesn't have enough force to press down on it (it'll make a loud clank sound when it locks), but compared for the price for other locks of the same size, I can live with it. I could probably remove it, but it's so minor, it's not a big deal.

Update:
I ended up ordering several more of these for projects. I've found the quality to be high with each one (I tested them). They work great for control access applications, I just use a relay connected with + and the power source.
1) Use only non-ferrous hardware. They come with aluminum screws. Use them. My first install, I mistakenly switched to steel screws, and those will steal the mojo from the electromagnet. If you use the fasteners supplied, you'll have good results.
2) Alignment is critical. I found the best mounting technique is to figure out which piece (the electromagnet or the plate) to mount first. Mount that, then apply power to the electromagnet to it's stuck to the plate, and then with the magnet adhered to the plate, do the rest of your installation. The slightest misalignment will cause a weak latch, but once you get the alignment correct, the lock will adhere with surprising force.
