    Easy to install. So easy.
I've been setting up home ethernet in a piecemeal, head-scratching fashion, and I'd gotten to the stage of OK, what is a switch? Why do I need one? Hunh? I don't get it ... (etc.) After I'd figured this part out, I assumed it was going to be more complicated, expensive equipment, and I was dreading getting one. To try to avert compatibility issues, my brother suggested getting a Netgear switch since I was already using a Netgear router off my cable modem. Hence this.A) It wasn't that expensive. B) The directions were basically this: "Plug in the cables. Plug in the power. Witness the blinkenlights." OH REALLY?As it turned out, yeah. Really. Then Windows 10 said, Lo, I detect Ethernet! And it popped off my dodgy wireless connection, and boom, Internet. Which I am using right now. So this is mainly about my joy at how simple and painless this switch was to install. At this point, that's pretty much all I care about.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Last Ethernet Port Switch You Will Ever Buy!
Reviewed in Canada on April 18, 2018
This is one super solid product! In general, it’s hard to make a bad ethernet port and there are lots of options out there. However, this switch from Netgear serves as one of the best quality and designed ethernet ports I have personally owned.

    What I like:
✔ - Extremely solid build quality - It’s covered in a metal casing and I’m sure if you dropped it no damage would come to the internal components. But I’d hate to see the damage it would do to a floor.
✔ - Compact size - Considering this is an 8-port switch it is quite compact, and with no downsides.
✔ - Wall mountable - The bottom side features two wall mount points which was a must for me. I will eventually mount this to a wall so if this wasn’t on the port I wasn’t considering buying it.
✔ - Great price - At $27.99 (at time of purchase) it’s pretty much the best option at this price point, and with 550 reviews and a 4.8-star overall rating it speaks for itself.

    What I don’t like:
✖ - Absolutely nothing, I have no complaints.

    The result:
This is a fantastic product that is well made and works perfectly for my home server. It creates no bottlenecks for my upload/download speeds and I am very happy with this purchase. So, for anyone considering this product I can highly recommend it!

Love this little switch. Performance is fantastic, and it's really simple to use. If you're looking for a simple, unmanaged switch, I recommend this one. Even in my dusty environment, it's been running steady for quite a while. My only regret is not getting one with more ports, as I'm slowly running out due to the number of systems and devices I'm now running.

I've got this uplinked into a Qotom mini PC running pfSense, and have 6 active clients plugged in at any given time: 3x Laptops, 1x Desktop PC (as a server), 1x Raspberry Pi, and 1x XBOX One.
