I had little experience with blood pressure monitors and found this very easy to use. It has everything one really needs in a monitor. It detects irregular heartbeats, averages out the last 3 readings, and its memory function stores 60 readings for one or two users. The multi-colored interface is easy to read and preferable compared to the dull, black-and-white interfaces found on many other monitors. It also comes with a carrying pouch, plus a two-year warranty which I was able to extend for an additional two years through an offer available at time of purchase.
The heavy duty AAA batteries the unit came with lasted for a little less than a month. Replacing them with rechargeable 800 mAh AAA batteries gives enough power for 2 months use.
A couple of very minor nits:
It would be better to have the LED panel display the day, date and time on a single line instead of having to cycle the display through each one separately (but I realize Greater Goods was limited in what they could do in that they couldn't fit everything on one line given the screen size along with the size of the LEDs used).
The other would be to have the ability to scroll up and down through the readings instead of just being able to scroll in one direction (down). This would help when comparing multiple readings from different times and days.
Aside from these two small matters, I'm more than satisfied with this monitor and highly recommend it.
Pros:
–Excellent price for standard unit compared to competitive models–didn’t buy the “complete kit”. Bought this unit (without AC power adapter and carrying case) because I prefer using regular AAA alkaline or rechargeable batteries and already have a solid carrying case I like for travel
–Easy setup, use and display monitor (remember–read the User Guide)
–Surprisingly small and lightweight but hardware accuracy is most important
–Upper arm cuff size is good fit and feels comfortable during use
–Out of box readings match my 5-year old BP monitor so considering this unit to be accurate. Initially concerned due to physical size differences between models
–Easy to read User Guide–read it and be certain to update date/time before first use
–Still new so need more time to determine longevity but based on initial experience I would consider buying this device again
Cons:
–Plastic housing might not be highest quality so recommend being careful if it’s a mobile unit. Battery compartment door is very flimsy
Other thoughts:
–Initial start-up and total reading might be a few seconds slower than my other BUT accuracy is no doubt an absolute must and the purpose for using these devices
–Some reviewers complaint about cuff pinching or tightness–that typically is user error in placement, indicator alignment or insufficient clearance between cuff and skin. No problems here.
–Might be designed in and distributed from St. Louis, Missouri but it’s still Made in China
