This shuts down certain AWFUL types of pain in moments; needs some modifications

This shuts down certain AWFUL types of pain in moments; needs some modifications
Let me get the (very mild) negatives out of the way first:1. The 9 volt battery that ships with the unit is only good for about a day. Do yourself a favor, and get a four-pack of rechargeable 9 batteries and a charger when you place your order. That gives you one in the unit, one in the storage hole in the case, and two in the recharger.2. The gooey adhesive that sticks the electrodes on your skin will come loose if you sweat a lot, as I do in the Georgia summer heat. They sell replacements, BUT that gooey patch is ALWAYS going to come off. Fortunately, with the help of my physical therapist, I came up with a cheap, easy fix.3. This will NOT permanently take your pain away! If you think ANYTHING will, you are mistaken.HOWEVER: (And these are the VERY good points)1. This unit absolutely WILL interrupt the pain-feedback cycle for some types of pain! I have some degenerating discs and a chronic pain condition, been under the treatment of specialists for just over 15 years now. Even massive doses of opioids won't take some pain away. I developed some pain in my hip that ran down my leg, and it was keeping me from sleeping at night. I would have to take an entire day's supply of NORCO to sleep, leaving nothing for the day. My physical therapist showed me how to break the pain cycle with a hand massager, but the good one cost $300. We gave this a try, and IT WORKS. I can wear this outside, and have; you just have to run the tires so not to snag.2. A few minutes of the unit breaks my pain cycle, and I'm good for anywhere from half an hour to more than an hour. If you don't live with chronic pain you won't understand how lovely that is!3. There are TENS belts for sale, but nothing really looked right to me, and they were kind of pricey. Kendra, my physical therapist suggested using an ACE bandage to hold the electrodes on. I took that idea, and expanded on it. In the picture, you see the two black electrodes on the left? They are more-or-less permanently attached to the ACE bandage, AND it's a work in progress. I sewed the edges of the patches to the bandage at first, but found I hadn't allowed for the stretch, and the placement of the patches was too far off. I was working out in my shed at the time, and just used what was handy, which was some wire. I suggest you experiment with some small safety pins. I call the result my Kendra Belt, in her honor. With a little fiddling, I can place the patches where they will work, and I just tie the bandage around my waist or shoulder. NOTE: there are some places on my back that it's really hard to get the patches on, because of the way I'm built, which is not a perfect cylinder, and I'm also furry. Perhaps some of the commercial belts do a better job.If it's not easy, you won't use it, and I found positioning the pads not to be easy. The Kendra Belt is easy, and CHEAP! It rolls up, and stashes inside the hard carrying case the unit comes in.

The TENS 7000 device has proven to be an excellent choice for managing discomfort in my neck, lower back, and shoulders. Its user-friendly interface and varied selection of settings make it incredibly useful. The modulation setting provides a sensation similar to a high-quality massage device, enhancing relaxation. After using it, I noticed an improvement in how awake I felt the following day, thanks to the relaxation of my muscles. I highly recommend this product for those seeking possible relief from physical discomfort.

Based on another reviewer’s advice I chose this model over the one utilizing AAA batteries, and I am extremely happy I did so.
This unit, which runs on a single 9V battery is working much more effectively than even my best home-made versions. Having eaten dozens of honey-coated watch batteries of various sizes, rigging motorcycle batteries with the leads from digital ohm meters, and licking both 110 and European sockets with few beneficial results, this contraption is a real time saver, if even just no longer making weekly trips to Radio Shack for miscellaneous capacitors, transistors, etc. While the lead-core fly fishing line coils connected to a type 31 marine battery did indeed provide some minor neck relief, lugging the 75 pound battery proved to be somewhat inconvenient, especially on bowling night. Enter the TENS 7000 (I realize this sounds a lot like an ad for an upcoming Terminator movie, but that’s really what they call it)

Having suffered some extreme issues stemming from the fact I have disks pinching my spine to nearly 100% closed off (I swear I’m not making that up) along with the fact I was born quite young, chiropractors and physical therapists have been a major part of my life for well over 30 years now. While many of them claim it was their manipulations which cured many a stiff joint or mis-aligned spine, I know from experience that TENS therapy truly works wonders. It truly does. With the exception of the time the doc’s assistant came in to turn the rapid-sine machine “off” and accidently turned it from power “2” to “Well Done” and having to peel me off the ceiling, TENS has provided much needed relief from massive muscle spasms in my lower and upper back; eliminated stiffness in my neck; reduced swelling in my neck; as well as made me a very rich man. Well maybe not that last one, but it’s not too late.

Anyone who spends time at the chiro knows the joy of TENS therapy, but we also know the disappointment of feeling the power shut down just when it’s starting to feel like it’s working! Sure the doc has other patients in line, but we’re paying for US to get relief- let them wait! With your very own TENS machine at home, there IS no wait, and better yet, as long as you’ve got batteries, there is NO LIMIT to how long you can cook yourself to pain free!! (Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor. I do have much experience as a PATIENT, and offer only my personal opinion stemming from that experience. If you have a serious problem, please consult a doctor or your local Salvation Army for proper assistance)

I read about others who run their TENS constantly, and at full power- setting 8- and achieving good results. Let me tell you, I can take a LOT of pain, and I am running this 9V model at just below power level 3, and it is making my shoulder spaz out so much it resembles Kanye West at a Golden Globes ceremony. I am using my new TENS to relieve a frozen shoulder; after just 30 minutes of low-intensity therapy using the various modes I was actually able to lift my arm over my head for the first time in nearly a year. I swear I’m not making that up. I do firmly suggest that you DO NOT use the unit constantly however, as your body needs time to relax and “calm down” after a session, so based on my decades of experience I would say a total of 2 hours or so per day broken into 30-40 minute sessions will provide you with a quick idea of whether it will work for you or not. Others are obviously suffering different problems however, so you should consult with your doctor (or qualified airline stewardess) to determine what is right for you. That being said, I expect within the next week to be suffering from zero shoulder pain, no more back pain, and full restoration of my receding hairline. While this machine IS pretty cool, I doubt I’ll get down to my desired weight without having used it at least a month, and the cancer will probably require at least another after that. Good thing I also bought rechargeable batteries!

The TENS machine is truly very sleek, and extremely well thought out. It is about the size of a walkman; unfortunately in fact, it resembles a walkman SO much that just this morning while out shopping I was hit with rocks by 2 young thugs who told me to “Grow up and join the digital age!” after spotting my TENS conveniently clipped to my Bermuda shorts. Another cool feature is that both the controls for the leads and the modular controls are each protected behind little doors, which prevent accidental changes to the settings while you move about. Very cool, as they are easy deal with when need be. The unit is also lightweight; I would barely know it’s there if it weren’t for the fact my face keeps changing shape as if I’m sticking my open mouth out the car window while traveling in excess of 90MPH on the highway. But darn, it feels so good.

Overall I am extremely happy with this unit and wholeheartedly recommend it. Here are the Pros and Cons I have found so far:

Pro:
Surprisingly low cost
VERY powerful
Lightweight
Attractive design
May possibly double as a sex toy
Variable modes, wide variety of outputs
Easy to program and use
Much more effective than string of holiday lights with tinsel replacing original bulbs then wrapped around body

Con:
Will only partially cook hot dogs at level 6; level 8 burns ends
Easily mistaken for Walkman by local thugs
Does not work after being pushed into uncovered cesspool
May possibly double as a sex toy

I’ve had back pain for over a year. I fell off the stairs coming into our house around November 2021. Since then I’ve had back pain to varying degrees, sometimes so bad I could barely walk, barely turn over in the bed and I couldn’t even stand up from a seated position and walk. I’d have to get up and get used to the pain and once I got going it was better. My back was spasming all the time. The pain was there 24/7. If I did something like go shopping and walk a lot or clean house then for two or three days the pain would be a lot worse. I’ve tried the chiropractor, steroids, muscle relaxers, and physical therapy. The strongest thing I took for pain was Ultram. I didn’t want to fall in that dark pit of getting hooked on something. Things started to turn around November of last year when I started to go to physical therapy. For some of my visits they would do dry needling and hook a tens unit up to it. Yes it hurt. But I was already hurting all the time so it was worth it. The first time was the worst. I left hurting worse than when I got there but I wanted to give it a chance. Two days later I did the dry needling again with the tens unit. That next morning when I got up most of the pain was gone. But it didn’t last but about 18 hours and it came back. It was such a relief though to be pain free even if just for 18 hours. Unfortunately insurance is not going to pay for me to do that forever but it gave me an idea. I researched and bought my own tens unit and I chose this one. This thing works miracles. I am pretty much pain free all the time. And yes it delivers the exact same thing I got in physical therapy just without the needles. I can vouch for it. The price is affordable for almost anyone. I use this every night for about 45 minutes. I can’t imagine going without it. I’m not a salesperson and I’m not getting any money for posting this.
I just thought this could help someone else.
If you have any kind of implant like a pacemaker you have to clear it with your doctor before using. The pads can be used multiple times and they are not that expensive. The ones I have on now I’ve used about 8-10 times. I’m sure if you were to put it on a hairy part of your body they wouldn’t last as long. It uses a 9 volt battery. You can use it up to three hours a day. My sister gets up in the morning, puts the pads on and leaves them on all day using it off and on. That way she isn’t taking the pads on and off. If you are out of options maybe this could help you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended TENS Unit!
Reviewed in Canada on September 6, 2023
I did a lot of research before picking a TENS Unit. The TENS 7000 came with high recommendations. Having gotten it, I can see why!

It's powerful, 2 channels, 5 modes, and you can set the Rate (Hz) and Pulse Width. Many lesser units do not let the user adjust the latter two variables.

I was amazed by the stay of sensations I could dial in by adjusting the settings. Definitely paid for itself when I put for electrodes on my lower back and had an amazing massage and pain relief experience. This unit is also recommended as a beginner's e-stim unit, but if you want to know about that, search Reddit. All I can say is I am really happy I chose the 7000 unit. The price is excellent value.

There is a bit of a learning curve if you are new to TENS however the unit comes with a great manual and settings are individual to what you are using it for and per person. A physiotherapist can help, or just look on YouTube!

There unit comes with 4 pad electrodes. They are good quality but will have a limited number of uses, considered buying some extra electrode pads or some conductive adhesive gel for reuse. This is normal and these are considered consumables.

I'm still on the included 9V battery, but I also bought some extra rechargeable 9V batteries.

Totally pleased and enthusiastically recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't fall for the cheaper options on here.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 11, 2024
This is the second TENS machine in a month that I've bought for my wife. There are a lot of them on here and we originally bought some smaller one with a wing like strip and it was just awful.

I said I'd look to find her a better one and came across this. 92k reviews speaks for itself. I should have got this one straight away. Not sure I've seen many products with that many reviews and still above 4 stars.

Don't be fooled by the way it looks like a bit of kit from the 90s where the amazon listing's for TENS machines show flashy ones for £10-20 cheaper, they will not work as well as this one despite it's looks, which had me skeptical at first.

Not only can this one be used continuously, but the various modes, settings and frequencies make it totally customisable to your pain. My wife relies on it daily to get her through some neck based and undiagnosed (as of yet) chronic pain and she pretty much won't go anywhere without it.

Tip; buy rechargeable 9V batteries, non rechargeable ones are not only not going to last long, but bad for the environment too.

Received fast and seller was kind enough to check in ahead to let me know it would be delivered on the day.

It’s simple and works great, wasn’t interested in having 5372826 settings to make life more complicated. Comes in a nice storage box too for safe keeping.

Last but not least, was very surprised how intense the output power could be dialled up for this little guy!
