A very poor effort by Miele

A very poor effort by Miele
I am a happy owner of both a Miele canister vacuum and a Miele upright vacuum. We recently got rid of carpeting in the bulk of our home and now have about 2000 square feet of tile. We also have four dogs (hence the reason we switched from carpet to tile). Once a week, I have been using the Miele Classic canister and I've been very happy with it, other than its short cord. (I have the less expensive model that has the short cord compared to the premium versions.) I have to unplug/replug the canister four times when vacuuming. Other than that, the Miele does a fantastic job and I love it with the parquet twister head.I wanted a lightweight vacuum to quickly vacuum up the dog hair in between thorough vacuuming with the Miele canister. I personally do not care for bagless vacuums so I was trying to narrow down the choices to just bagged vacuums. Since we have so much tile, I also was skeptical that a cordless vacuum would have enough charge to cover the whole house. Besides, the cordless vacuums, like the nice Sharks and Dysons, were substantially more expensive than the Miele Swing. A corded vacuum, and one that did not have a carpet-head brush, seemed ideal. The Miele Swing seemed to be the perfect choice upon seeing it online; a bagged small vacuum for quickly vacuuming up the dog hair once or twice a week. I was concerned by some of the poor reviews here on Amazon, but since there were quite a number of reviewers who loved the Swing (and it seemed on paper to be exactly what I wanted), I purchased it along with the Miele Parquett Twister head.Unfortunately it turned out to be a very poor purchase and I cannot believe Miele made such a poor product.First the positives:-It has a very long cord. I could reach all 2000 square feet from two outlets.-The Swing is clearly well-made and it sucks very well while remaining very quiet. Not a trace of dust seems to escape it.-It has a fairly large, quality Miele bag. There is one negative that unfortunately overwhelms the positives: this thing is monstrously heavy; so much so it makes it unfit for most purposes. It is so heavy, you really should not use it with any vacuum head except the one it comes with. The parquett twister head cannot be used. The Swing is so heavy, it crushes the bristles of the brush head to the ground and makes it completely unusable, in addition to damaging the brush head. The head the swing comes with has a large roller near the nozzle, which was different than the otherwise very similar head my Miele canister vacuum came with. (See photo)Clearly, the roller is clearly needed just to support the ridiculous weight of the Swing and hence, limits you to using just this one nozzle head. That creates a substantial problem. Because of the roller, it is difficult to change directions with the Swing and makes it impossible to move the vacuum with its head sideways to fit into smaller spaces, unless you physically support the weight of the vacuum. The nozzle is also much narrower than the parquett twister I hoped to use.The weight of the vacuum makes a 'quick' vacuum of the house much more tiring than using the canister vacuum, completely destroying my justification for purchase. I don't know who would ever use this vacuum with the included upholstery and crevice tool; carrying a 10-11 pound vacuum with a crevice tool!?I really do not know for what customer Miele designed this for as it seems to do nothing well. Unfortunately, for my purposes, it was a $200 mistake.
