Not the best for skin-and-bone ankles
Well, of the Frye boots I've tried, these weren't the worst and they weren't the best. If not for two things, I may have kept them. 1) They are too wide through the ankles for my skin-and-bone ankles/shins (mainly ankle). When I walk, my heel slips up the back of the shoe and my shin/ankle move forward in the shoe because the circumference is too wide through the ankle. If you have fleshy ankles, this might actually work in your favor. But if you're someone who literally shaves skin off when shaving over your ankle bones or Achilles tendon, this will probably be too wide for you in the shaft. The zipper doesn't do a whole lot to contain your foot. By comparison, Fidji Women's L852 Boot, Sin Red, 39 EU/9 M US worked really well for me due to the slip-on style with stretch goring, and had it been available in Black, I would have bought that. 2) Your weight will rest on the balls of your feet in these, so it may lead to discomfort.Width of the toe seemed pretty good. (I'm possibly on the wider side of B/M, but most B/M's work OK for me.) Heel height wasn't horrible but could have been better designed to let your weight rest on your heels more. The leather quality seems nice enough. It's pretty shiny and softer than expected. These boots were made in China.
