I took the straps off mine as soon as I received them (I hate straps on my trekking poles, always have). I keep the mud baskets on the poles and leave the other accessories at home unless I think I'll need them for the area/weather we're heading into. You get a lot with this set: snow and mud baskets, feet for hard surfaces, knob feet, and even a clip to connect the poles together for storage (I don't use it). The snow baskets have cutouts in them so the clip will work even with those baskets on.
The total offering with these poles is great and the price point is unbelievable. To get poles this light at REI or any other brand retailers, you would pay $150 or more. This is a great value for great poles. They have held up well for me so far. Like any carbon fiber poles, you can't be too rough with them. No matter how much you spend, carbon fiber is less durable than aluminum ... and you have to treat them well. They have held up well for regular trail use and as supports for tents and tarps. If you find yourself sword fighting with each other or the wildlife, these poles will not hold up.
I compared the features of entry level, mid level and high end trekking poles. These are adjustable for many different people. These are very stable for balance in any terrain. The carbide tip, boot tip, rubber tip, give a great degree of options.
This has a nice drawstring carrying bag with a shoulder strap. A zippered compartment holds the accessory tips. These weigh around a half a pound.
This has a cork grip, great for absorbing shock, imparting confidence and help with wet conditions. There is a nylon strap that has some degree of adjustments.
The Carbon fiber poles are nice and stiff. The clamps can be adjusted to prevent them from shortening inadvertently. The tension knob allows proper tension adjustments without tools.
I didn’t notice a significant noise when pounding this into the ground. The shock absorption is effective. I felt very stable and balanced.
Mind you these are not crutches that are supposed to bear your entire weight. They act as a support for balance when trail hiking. On level ground you can use them to propel you faster, pushing backwards as you step forward (i.e. Nordic walking). They’re not designed to support a full load of a human’s weight.
It folds easily into a backpack if necessary.
The price and accessories rival products double in price.
I am glad I have a paid for me and one for my wife.

The locks work well. Snug up the knurled side of the locks then flip the lever, and it's not sliding. I think these locks are far superior to twist locks. The extra tips and baskets are nice, although I will probably never need more than the basic tip and rubber boot-like tip. Those are apparently supposed to face backwards, if you think of them as boots. You'd think that would be clarified in the instructions, but it wasn't. I really had to search around to be sure I had those things facing the right way.
The cork grips are comfortable, and I'm glad I picked them over the EVA grips.
Someone using them for longer distances carrying a heavy pack may have a different experience and wish to purchase poles designed to be specifically for a right and a left side with more padded straps. These will be fine for my purposes. They allow me to take some of the load off my knees, and it feels noticeably better after walking. My arms feel a bit more tired, but that was the point, to work my arms a bit more to save my knees. I'm getting more complete exercise this way, and I'm happy with the purchase. If you're going to be using trekking poles for longer distances and heavier loads, you should pay careful attention to the straps (which should bear more weight than the grips) and probably get something with dedicated right and left hand straps.
Top reviews from other countries
These are only about 3 inches longer when collapsed compared to the other three section poles mentioned (which had a similar feel/vibration). When closed, because they are tapered at the end, they move in and out freely an inch or so (the clamp is set at the extended fatter pole diameter so the bottom part is loose at the tapered part when collapsed).
Im 5’11” 180lbs and feel these are strong enough to assist with hiking balance. Havent used them yet but wanted a light as possible pair. Compared to most $200-300 name brand sets, these are still lightest or as light. I prefer two sections anyway as they have less parts to break and wont be abusing them so dont have concerns about durability of carbon. Not sure if two sections is considered stronger or weaker than three sections.
Also comes with a nylon zip bag to store poles and baskets/parts
I guess the one star off is for the loose ends when collapsed and the vibration.
