Product Description
HELPS ALLEVIATE ITCHING + SWELLING FROM BUG BITES AND STINGS
Bug Bite Thing is a suction tool that alleviates the itching, stinging, and swelling from bug bites and stings. How? It extracts the insect saliva/venom left behind under the skin. When you remove the irritant, your body stops producing the reaction. A chemical-free solution for bites and stings? It’s a thing!
For First Aid Only: In the event of an allergic reaction, severe bite, or infection, seek medical attention immediately.
Bug Bite Thing was founded in 2017 by Kelley Higney and her mother Ellen McAlister, a seasoned entrepreneur. Kelley’s daughters, like her, were both “mosquito magnets.” After many failed attempts to find relief by using creams and trying home remedies, Kelley decided to research how other countries combat insect bites. She discovered an innovative product that used suction to remove the insect saliva/venom and eliminate the itching, stinging, and swelling, instead of masking the symptoms. Amazed by the effectiveness of the product, Kelley knew she had to make it readily available and offer other families relief. In October 2019, Kelley and Ellen appeared on ABC’s hit show, “Shark Tank” and pitched to the Sharks to invest in their business. After receiving offers from all the Sharks, they decided to strike a deal with Lori Greiner. Since appearing on “Shark Tank,” Bug Bite Thing’s business has flourished and the company is on its way to becoming a global household name.

Another noteworthy aspect of Bug Bite Thing is its ease of use. The ergonomic design fits comfortably in the hand, and the simple operation requires no batteries or additional accessories. To use it, you simply place the tool over the affected area, create a vacuum by pulling the plunger, and hold for a few seconds to extract the irritant. Instead of suffering through itchy, swollen bites, I can now address them quickly and effectively with this handy tool. It's become an essential companion on all my outdoor adventures, providing peace of mind and relief when I need it most.

Overall, I highly recommend the BUG BITE THING Suction Tool to anyone looking for a natural and effective solution to insect bites and stings.
I am lucky! He came home!!- but brought fleas with him. I ordered fogger, and sticky strips, and this tool. The next morning, I laundered all of the bedding in hot water. That afternoon my veterinarian sold me flea treatment that would be safe for my 2 old cats, and I treated everything with diatomaceous earth, since the foggers didn’t arrive till the next day.
Unfortunately, I had been bitten several times before this bug bite tool arrived the next day, and I had big allergic welts. I tried the bug bite tool on all of the bites, and it only worked on the one from this morning that still had the small white center. I used the tool 3x, and still had to squeeze out the last of the white center.
If I haven’t gotten rid of every flea, I’ll use this tool at the first itch! And I’ll be super careful going in and out of the door, since an old cat is faster than an old lady!
Here are my initial impressions:
Pros:
* seems to work "well enough"
* easy to use
* lightweight
* the reversible end-cap is useful
* a great idea.
Cons:
* The part that goes against your skin is ridged and kind of rough. This is the most painful part and I really question how necessary it is... perhaps it's to keep your skin from sliding in to the suction itself? I might try sanding it down some.
* When thinking about packing for a hiking trip, it's kind of large, particularly with the arms.
* Clam-shell packaging. A box would have been just fine, not require scissors to open, and I could actually recycle it.
* Suction power is limited
Price:
I don't mind spending the $10 in thanks for the knowledge. I also think it's a lot for what you get, and I'm also looking forwards to alternatives. I was not able to find a similarly compact syringe (or plunger, even), that had a wide opening. The wider opening is pretty important to make sure that you can actually cover the bite.
It's worth noting that, in the absence of the tool, I was able to somewhat effectively accomplish the same results by squeezing the bite. This seemed to be most effect sooner rather than later and the location mattered a lot -- the best result was one right behind my knee where I was able to get "under" the bite. The tool is definitely preferable.
PS
For the one review with the swollen face -- that looks like a skin infection and I do not think it is at all fair to blame the tool. I myself am not a doctor, but I've gotten cellulitis a couple times. It's painful, spreads rapidly, and should be seen by a doctor ASAP-ish (very treatable, but complications if left untreated may include "death").
