I haven't used it in the wind, but no umbrella is really "wind-proof" and I really wouldn't expect any to be.
Also, some people complain that its hard to collapse the handle when closing it - I find that putting it against the ground or a wall and pushing the handle in is the most effective the way to do it.
Very happy with my purchase. It feels sturdy, and I hope its durable.
Overall, a VERY sturdy product that has already passed the storm test on a few walks to the office downtown. Despite the minor gripes above, I would strongly recommend - especially at this price point

I have had a good experience with this umbrella, it is heavier than the kind I would normally buy and then throw away rather than let it dry and reuse it, but its seems to be that the extra weight is in the build quality. Holds up strong and its nice to get in the car and zip the umbrella closed with the push of a button. No more fighting with a release button outside of the car and getting wet. Bought another for the wife and just ordered my 3rd to keep the car.

Some obvious things out of the way:
-It won't be large enough to keep your entire body dry. Your legs will get wet during heavier rain, especially the taller you are. It also will only barely keep the heads and maybe shoulders of two people dry.
-It's compact, so the handle is quite a bit smaller than a hand/full sized grip and not very comfortable to be tightly holding for long periods of time.
I've had mine for close to a couple years now. I live somewhere that errs on the dryer side so my usage isn't going to be even close to somebody in Vancouver, but I do spend a considerable amount of time walking outside though so it has definitely seen a fair amount of use and some abuse as well.
Durability: 4 stars
-This is a light travel umbrella so I expect it to not be as sturdy as I'd like it to be but I've been pleasantly surprised by how long it has lasted. In my time using it I've walked through numerous rain storms with gusting winds where it's difficult to even hold on to an umbrella and it is still functioning just fine with 1 simple repair recently. During said gusting winds, I've had the umbrella invert several times and it has been quite easy to revert it with a firm flick with the wind assisting. After those inverts, all of the fabric, seams, and attachments to the ribs have held completely solid, which is quite impressive as I usually find those to be the first to go, especially with auto open/close umbrellas due to the force of the mechanism.
-Very recently after 2 years of use, I've finally had one of the ribs fail near one of the joints during an invert after the metal channel buckled and bent out of shape. Despite that, the hardness and general sturdiness of the ribs was quite evident when I had a hard time doing a hack repair job using two pliers to bend it back to shape due to how sturdy the actual material was as I had to use a lot of force to bend it back. It has even survived another invert after that repair which surprised me since that section is now going to be much weaker.
-There has for some time been some rust development on the inside of the umbrella where the canopy meets the ribs, as mentioned and shown in some of the other reviews. It has not affected the functionality of my umbrella as far as I can tell and the rust seems limited to staining the fabric; I do not see extensive rusting on the actual metal itself. There was no rust near where the umbrella failed me previously.
I still give 5 stars overall because for the price point, the durability has exceeded my expectations.
