I hopped back on Amazon to find a solid replacement, and came across this one. At a bit over twice the cost of my previous one, I had to think long and hard about whether or not I should buy this one. But eventually, I pulled the trigger and ordered it. When it arrived and got set up, I was amazed!
For starters, the packaging on this thing is rock solid. It arrived packaged in a thick, solid, magnetically clasped cardboard box. There was absolutely no way that this thing was going to get damaged in shipping. And the thickness of the packaging box, plus the awesome magnetic clasps on the front of the box alone give me the impression that the product itself is going to be quality!
Taking it out of the box, I was surprised with how light it was. There's really not much to the device, other than a plastic housing, with air holes on the sides to allow airflow to keep the device cool, LEDs on the front for indication, and the ports on the back. It's sleek and small (a bit bigger than a deck of cards). It has a set of rubber feet on the bottom to help it stand off the surface a bit, as well as to provide it with a bit of grip to stay put with the weight of the cables behind it.
Speaking of cables - I LOVE that this has all of the cables plugged into the back of it! My other has ports scattered around all sides of it. This made it hard to run wire and place it in a corner somewhere. With this one, however, all the cables leaving the rear of the device made it much easier to store in a place out of the way, and to better manage the cables coming off of it.
The indicator lights on the front are a great touch too. They're red if a powered device is plugged into the switch, and the red light turns blue when that input is selected as the source for video feed. In addition, the output LED turns off when the TV (or other output source) isn't turned on. I don't have any proof, but I suspect that this helps to keep the device cool, as it doesn't get warm when on for days at a time while the TV is turned off. My previous one would overheat, even if the TV wasn't on, as it was always constantly pumping the video feed through to the output, even if it wasn't needed, since the TV was off. Having this one indicate that the TV is off (and I suspect stop processing video feed during this time) is a great perk!
Even better than my other, this one provides a nice Picture in Picture (PiP) capability as well! It's not a solid, 30-60 fps video feed in the PiP mode, but it's useful for what it's for - providing a visual indicator of what's going on with another input, in instances where you may need to switch back and forth between inputs. I've been using mine mainly to switch between an Android TV box, and my Windows PC, so this has been useful to see if any alerts have popped up on my PC that require attention. Being able to do this without having to actually switch between inputs is a great feature!
Lastly, the wireless remote that comes with it does the job nicely. It's nothing fancy, and is roughly the same size and shape as many other HDMI switchers sold by Amazon. But this remote has support for the PiP feature, switching inputs directly, and even recalling back to the previous input.
All in all, this device does what it's supposed to, and does it well! There's nothing flashy about it. You simply plug in your HDMI sources, tuck the device away, and use the remote to switch inputs as needed. It supports 4K / 3D 1080p, and is HDMI 1.4a compliant. One important point to note, however, is that due to the fact it's not HDMI 2.0, you will not be able to get a full 4K@60fps signal. You will be capped at the older, 4K@30fps feed. However, at 1080p, this thing will certainly do 1080p@60fps (and likely 1080p@120fps, but I can't test this, as I no longer have a 120hz capable monitor).
I'm very satisfied with my purchase of this switcher, and am glad to have moved on past the crummy old one I used to have!

Pros: Easy to understand. Switches fast. Four inputs. Has a remote. Clear display. No problems in resolution.
Cons: Only one output (but, to be fair, I knew that going in). Most tv's today have multiple inputs for hdmi, and can be set up to display at differing light/volume/saturation/gamma/etc...levels. This means that the levels of all these things are the same across the board (i.e. how you watch tv is how you will game), and since I prefer different levels for gaming than watching tv/movies, I have had to make some quality of life "adjustments". Remote comes across as a bit flimsy, and feels kind of cheap. It does do the job, however.
Overall: This product works exactly as advertised, came at a fair price, and was delivered on time and intact.
Five star rating from me.
My current setup:
- Vizio 4K Smart TV with 3 HDMI ports (1 is eARC).
- Vizio soundbar on eARC port.
- Xbox One S attached to one tv port
- Zettaguard Switch on 2nd tv port
- Apple TV on port 1 (was the Xbox One originally)
- Nintendo Switch on port 2
- Raspberry Pi on port 3
- Port 4 empty
I had originally purchased an HDMI splitter that wasn’t powered in order to share one HDMI port with my Xbox One S, Nintendo Switch, and Raspberry Pi. That didn’t seem to be powerful enough (the inputs wouldn’t display), so after research I bought this powered unit. I specifically chose it for 4K use with the Xbox One, high frame rates, and great reviews (both on Amazon and elsewhere).
When it arrived and I hooked everything up it was going great until I got to the Xbox. That input wouldn’t display at all. I was about ready to return it, and then on a whim I changed the Xbox to 1080p instead of 4K. Bammo, it worked. I’m not sure if it’s because the other devices on the switch are only capable of 1080p and so it dumbs it down, or if the unit simply can’t do 4K as advertised. I haven’t tested it with only the Xbox connected. Since my Apple TV is only 1080p, I swapped them out and have been using it in that configuration. I also ran into issues playing some blu-rays on the Xbox when running through the switch.
After having time to experiment with my setup and work out kinks, overall I’m pleased with the device. It allows us to use three devices on one port, which was the goal. Auto switching is nice, except when you don’t WANT it to swap lol. I’ve experienced weirdness where I’m on a different tv input and it swaps to the switch, even after manually turning it back two or three times.
I’ve also experienced problems with sound. With both the other tv input and those using the switch, I will sometimes have to restart the device I’m using, swap tv inputs back and forth, or restart the tv itself. I’m not entirely sure whether these problems are because of the switch, my tv, the Soundbar eARC setup, or a combination of these. So I won’t mark it down for those, but I thought it’s worth mentioning given how annoying it’s been.
Overall my kids don’t even realize there are issues. To them it works great and they are pleased with it, so that seamless integration into their lives is a great testimony.
Top reviews from other countries
I use it fir a PS4, the latest Apple TV 4K and an old NVR for my cctv.
It works brilliantly! Quality of the picture is as good as a direct connection to the tv!
Auto switching works well if you power off things first, so I turn off Apple TV then turn on ps4. Because I can’t turn off the NVR the switch box sticks on that input, so I have to manually switch channels.
For picture quality alone I very happy with this product, other switch boxes have not support the resolution of my items!
