I bought the extended warranty. Now I can't use the food processor for lack of one simple part - the removable blade that twirls and processes food. I could return the whole kit and kaboodle, but that would require a long drive transporting the entire assembly. So, now I have a small blender that is extremely sensitive to overheating. It takes forever to get the job done. My main complaint: I purchased a food processor that is now useless, and the warranty is not helpful. I need one piece, one small piece that Amazon could send in a small box. That's all. I don't need a four-hour round trip carrying a bunch of parts so I can return them all to Amazon.After reading the other one-star reviews, I see why the price keeps dropping on this product.In the photos, the green scale shows: the blender jar, assembled weighs 3.6 lbs. The glass itself weighs 3 lbs. The rest of the assembly weighs only 0.6 lbs. - because it's mostly cheap plastic. The motor, which cuts off randomly, weighs almost 3 lbs. The glass jar holds such a small volume, and it can't handle big jobs. Don't even think about using this for large meal preparation, unless you want to spend two days to blend five pounds of potatoes. Furthermore, do NOT make the mistake of buying a warranty, unless you want another one just like it. I would be ashamed to give it to charity, so it's gone.

    I tormented myself trying to pick a glass blender. All the reviews on amazon were lack luster. I chose this one with low expectations but have been very happy with my purchase. I’ve had the unit for 4 months.

    Blender: love that the pitcher made of glass & it was on the mamavation website approved list. I’ve been able to make smoothies, cauliflower rice, cauliflower mashed potatoes, pumpkin puree, hummus and much more! The smoothies are made with no issues - once you get the appropriate liquid amount, it blends smoothly. The hummus was VERY this and it put the blender to work. I had to start and stop quite a bit, but it’s a blender - it’s not intended to make hummus - but alas It made hummus! I’de rather make my food in glass with a MINOR inconvenience of stopping to stir than use a plastic pitcher.

    TIP - if you’re trying to make something very VERY this (ex. hummus) and the blades are not catching the food, push the food down (fills and air pocket that formed) and toward the center (directly over blade assembly). Then try blending again & repeat.

    Food Processor: this attachment is plastic, so I really had no intentions of using it. I ended up in a pinch and needed ground pistachios. The food processor worked flawlessly!

    This is the 2d Cuisinart Duet I've bought. After 10+ years of daily smoothies and other uses, my previous one gave up the ghost. I was disappointed because my OG Cuisinart processor didn't die until it was more than 40! But 10+ (I think it's more like 13 or 14) is pretty good these days. This blender/small processor is so simple and easy to use. The same motor base fits the glass blender jar and the not-glass (acrylic?) processor bowl. You just set the jar or bowl down on the base and push a button. The processor bowl is small, only 3 cups, but it's perfect if you're not making a big dish. And Cuisinart has improved the processor blades: instead of separate shredder and slicer blades like my old one had, this one has one reversible blade, one side for shredding and one side for slicing, both thin. It's easy to take apart for cleaning, and most parts can go in the dishwasher. Of course, the motor base is not submersible - it's just wiped off with a damp cloth, which is easy because the buttons are smooth so nothing sticks up and gets stuff caught between them. It's a very sleek assembly, too. The only thing I don't like is that it only comes in gray. I have a white kitchen and prefer white for the appliances that stay out on the countertop, but it seems no one makes them any more. "Stainless steel" and "brushed chrome" now seem to be used more as names for a color (gray) than the name of a material (metal, as opposed to plastic). Cuisinart isn't the only company that does this. But if you order a "stainless steel" or "brushed chrome" Duet, the cover of the motor base will be plastic, not metal. The blades, however, are actually stainless steel.

    This blender can make a fully blended smoothie in 3 pulses. It is very powerful. The locking mechanism is very simple. You do not have to twist it or find a groove; the bottom of the pitcher just sits on top of the base. The pitcher is thick sturdy glass and it fits easily in the dishwasher. The food processor attachment comes with a plate that allows for slicing and grating. It is a great deal for a 2 in 1 and the design does not skimp on the blender nor the processor. Great quality product with a simple design that works well.

    This blender/food processor combo really provides a huge amount of flexibility for the price and does save a bit on space if dealing with a small kitchen. I use the blender nearly every day to make smoothies for breakfast and also use the food processor on occasion for cooking. The worst I put in the blender is large chunks of frozen fruit most mornings and sticky dried dates in the food processor when making date-based energy balls. The machine works rather well for a non-professional blender, but about every six months to a year, something breaks on the blade assembly, and I have to buy a replacement part. If you’re handy and don’t mind doing this, it’ll last for a good, long while. If not, this is not the machine for you.

    Looking at the reviews there are a lot of people that like this blender, but I'm guessing those reviews were likely made after using it a couple of times. Give it a few months though and they'll probably be changing their minds. We purchased this blender a year ago and about 8-9 months later we had to replace it. About 6 months into owning it, the motor would just stop running before actually finishing the job. If you let it cool down for 20 or so minutes it would let you finish, but over the next couple of months it would only give us a few seconds of use at a time.

    Since it hadn't even been a year we contacted Cuisinart customer support, and they sent us a new one. Props to Cuisinart for their customer support, not for their product. We got our replacement mid-January, hoping that our first blender was just a dud. As it turns out, our first blender far exceeded the replacement. Here we are just three months after receiving the replacement and it gives out after short use. So, if you want to have a blender for a long time, don't buy this one.

    Now, you may be wondering, "What are these people putting in their blender that is killing it so quickly?" It gets almost daily use to make smoothies. This morning it was a banana, yogurt, milk, peanut butter, and chocolate powder that killed the motor after about 8 seconds. A decent blender should be able to handle that concoction, but this one does not.
