Customers like the performance of the soldering iron. They mention that it works great, the stand is basic, but good enough to do their jobs, and the iron itself works great. It's useful for light repairs and fine PCB work, and it saves a lot of time with the desoldering pump that comes with the kit. The tips are included and are all actually useful. It works well at both temperatures and handles it all like a pro.

Customers are mixed about the quality of the soldering iron. Some mention it's an awesome solder kit, with a temperature control, and a solder sucker. However, others say that it'd be better off using some wet/dry. The prongs are slightly too thin, and the material is a bit of a cheaper feeling plastic. With all of that, this item deserves a great rating. Mine was a Prime Day deal, but it's still pretty cheap otherwise. The iron is the star of this purchase, and it heats up quickly & stays around the temp it is set at. The tips are a great assortment & came pre-tinned. I know that is expected, but many new tips are not.
The rest of the kit is a mixed bag, but it's all a pleasant surprise with a price like this. The best accessories in the kit: the solder plunger, which is spring-loaded & locks with a squeeze release so you can worry about aiming the plunger instead; the tweezers, which have a nice coating on them and are needle-precise; and the kit case, which carries everything with extra room for other solder and accessories. The solder in the kit is average, but even average solder is about $3 anymore. The sub-par with the kit would be the sponge, which is extremely tiny and thin, and the base, which is a cut piece of metal that shouldn't be trusted -- use the nice base or station that you should already have. All-considered, the iron, plunger, tweezers, solder, and case are easily worth $30+, so the sponge and stand could be random garbage and this would still be a great deal.
I have used this iron with a brass cleaner (rat's nest). The iron cleaned up just fine. It tins just as easily as others. It feels just as solid as any cheaper name-brand iron. Don't buy this and think you'll be fabricating thousands of motherboards. This is great for hobby work or as a household tool.
Also, I had a sleeve-style needle-point tip from a different company. It fits on this iron and works well with it. In case you have, or are wondering if you will be able to find, sleeve tips (they cover a ceramic heater like a sleeve), then they will probably work with this.
- It has temp. control
- Comes in a very nice plastic case
- Comes with very nice tweezers purpose-built for soldering
- Very nice, long rugged cord
- Even the sponge is nice and even will last you a while
- The holding stand is nice and heavy, doesn't feel like it's going to tip or slide anywhere
- The extra tips it comes with are useful and decent quality
- It's easy to switch out the tips
Cons:
- The tiny 'sample package' of solder it comes with is low quality. Just buy some new rosin-core electronics solder.
- The arrow for the temp control rubbed off after a day of use. Make sure you use a marker to mark where the > arrow is for the temp. control
- Wish the case was just a little bigger
Of course, if you're serious about soldering and do it more than once or twice a week you will want a much more expensive unit, but for the price this is absolutely amazing and pleasantly surprising. I purchased this for what I _thought_ would essentially be a short-use iron that my children could use to learn to solder and I would buy a nicer one later. However, it turns out this far exceeded my own expectations. Honestly, if you showed me this kit and asked me how much you think it costed, I would say at least 3 times the actual cost, if not 5 times the cost.
As I said, the only down-sides are the writing rubs off that has the marker for the temp control. Fix that with a marker, small piece of tape, or whatever you can come up with. Then -- and I'm not sure what is wrong with it -- but the 'sample' solder they sent in the kit is junk, buy a decent $5 spool of electronic rosin core solder somewhere, and you will have yourself a soldering kit that is worth 5x the price you paid for it here. Everything else is of surprising quality, down to the tweezer and sponge in the kit.
This would make an excellent gift.

I wish the cord would be a bit longer, but it's not much of a negative point.
Kudos. It did the Job for me. Happy to have it. And the price is very good.
