The panda planner is really nice. It's got a nice hard cover that feels elegant and nice, heavy paper. It's somewhat like a journal and planner all in one. What I don't like about it, is that it is only 3 months, and for the price, I feel like it should be a full year. Also, there are parts of it that I'm not sure what to do with, so I just use those spaces to take notes, or I would end up wasting the space entirely. Additionally, it comes with videos and a lot of what I consider to be spam mail. I don't feel like I should have to watch videos or get spam mail to use a planner. The goal is to get organized, not waste time learning how to use the planner.
In the weekly section of the planner, I do like the project planning page sections and the goal sections. I can take or leave the last week review sections. I do not care for the planning upcoming week sections, because it is just too cumbersome to fill out every week. My family/work/personal/relationships all sort of overlap, and I don't have that much to say/do, really. Habits, learning, and passion projects are all incorporated into my weekly schedule, so I feel like those pages and sections are just kind of wasted space.
In the monthly section of the planner, again, I feel like there is just too much to write. I appreciate the planning section with the goals to accomplish and the distractions to avoid, but I don't care for the review section of wins and insights gained. In the daily section, I like being able to set priorities, having the schedule and task lists, and even the end of day review. I don't care for the morning review. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with the affirmation section or the exercise section, and again, I don't want to watch a video or read a mini-book to figure it out. A sample page filled out in the beginning of the planner would have been nice.
The Simple Elephant: The cover is not nearly as nice. It is still a hard cover, but it's kind of a soft hard cover and the planner overall feels cheaper in quality, and in fact, is lower in cost. The pages are about half the weight of the pages in the Panda Planner, and the overall feel is not as elegant. It has the same basic assembly as the Panda Planner with three ribbons to mark your place, and the elastic to hold it closed. It has one "Focus" section at the beginning of the planner, so instead of a daily or weekly focus, you set out yearly goals. Here is where they put their affirmation and "grateful for" sections. These still are not necessary to me, but at least they only take up one page, and I don't have to look at them everyday. Monthly sections are simple with just the month, goals, and space to write notes. Weekly sections consist of the week with goals for the week, successes and what can be done better. I like this a lot better than having an entire "weekly review." Also, the Simple Elephant has the entire week right in front of you, where the Panda Planner has one day per 2 pages. Which is kind of frustrating if you have an actual schedule you need to follow. Furthermore, in the Panda Planner, your weekly reviews are in a separate section from the daily views, so it's not very logically laid out. Had I designed the Panda Planner, I would have done the weekly view, with 7 daily views immediately following.
All in all, they are both great planners with great features. If you're looking for more of a journal, then you may want the Panda Planner. If you are looking for a planner to keep you on task, without all of the work and fluff, then I would go with the Simple Elephant.
There are 4 sections to this planner that help make your life better (and it comes with a bookmark ribbon for each one). The first section is where you put your goals into perspective. Section 2 has 12 blank monthly calendars for you to fill in how you like. Section three has 52 blank weekly calendars, to once again fill in however you like. Finally, the third section has many pages for notes to help you organize thoughts and jot ideas or notes down when necessary (seriously I've never seen a planner with this large a note section). I have expanded on all these below.
Section 1:
In this section you will first write out what you are grateful for. This section was good for me because it forced me to review what great people and things I have in my life. Then it asks to write down some affirmations. I enjoyed this because it made me reflect on the positives and not focus so much on negative things like I tend to do. Then you write down your 5 goals for the year. I recommend skipping to the notes in the back and writing out all your goals for the year, and picking the 5 most important or the ones you want done the soonest. I personally plan on crossing out these goals as I go and replacing them with new ones to help keep me busy. Next is the mind map which will help you keep these goals organized. Lastly in this section is the vision board. I don't see this as something that needs to be filled day one or even week one. Personally I think this can be filled as you go so that you can keep adding new ideas to it.
Section 2:
This section has 12 balnk monthly calendars that you can fill in to give you an overview of your month. You can fill them all in at once or as you go. I partially filled them all in and plan on adding events and things as I go. Another thing you'll do here is list what goals you want to achieve that month. This allows you to break goals down so that they don't seem as tasking and stressful. There is also a notes section for each month that can be useful when you don't have a definite date for things.
Section 3:
Here you'll find balnk weeks for you to fill in however is best for you. At the top of each week is a Goals for This Week box. This will allow you to break your goals down even further so that you can work on them in even smaller portions. This really helps me because I am easily overwhelmed by how much I need to accomplish for my goals. The more I break them down into smaller tasks, the easier it is for me. At the end of the week is a Successes and What Can I Do Better boxes. I love these two boxes. The successes box helps me to realize that even if the week was rough, that there were still postives. Some of my successes may not seem like a huge deal to everyone, but to me they're super important. For example, one of my ones from last week was I ate all the lunches I had prepped for the week. The other box is great two since it helps me put things into perspective and understand what I can work on to improve myself and my productivity. Also, every few weeks there is an elephant in the top right corner of the page that is to remind you to review section 1 so that you can make sure you are keeping everything in section 1 on your mind. It reminds you what you are working towards and why you are doing it.
Section 4:
This last section is the notes section which I talked a little bit about in section 1. I have been quite surprised by how useful this section has been. It has really been nice to write down ideas and helped me break down my goals into smaller steps so that I know everything I need to do to acheive those goals.
Overall, if you need help being more organized or help reaching your goals or both, then buy this planner. It's absolutely worth everyone penny.

there is plenty of space on each page and can be used any time of the year, as you put your own dates in. This can take a while, but great for someone who is, say, switching from an academic calendar to a regular calendar.
Realy easy to use and wonderful to get organized. I have Dyslexia and the brain fog that comes with Fibromyalgia, so staying organized is essential!
