Needs more power if it wants to be more than a niche tool
I used the 602e chipper for 30 hours and can't justify keeping it in my tool lineup. If the chipper had more power to handle under 4.0 inch stems I would definitely keep it.I like the rustic chips and the machine's design but it doesn't save me time in the garden like I hoped it would. The feeding is too slow and most of my pruning waste is just slightly too large to be fed into the chipper directly. I ended up having to prune and bend branches so they could be fed to the chipper almost as frequently as I would have had to to make them fit in a yard waste disposal bin. I could break down the branches with snips for yard waste disposal and shovel, wheel-barrow, and spread store bought mulch in the time it takes me to chip and spread an equivalent amount with the Sun Joe. Until these small electric chippers can handle branches under 4.0 inches I don't see much point in owning one. It also isn't able to fully break down small twigs and isn't great at mulching leaves, further limiting its usefulness.Tips:* Loosen the hex screws holding the blades before your first use. They are super tight and trying to loosen them when they are dirty will be difficult..* Toss the hex / Allen wrench it comes with and use a hardened metal one instead. The wrench is too soft and began deforming on the tight blade screws.* Use a shallow plastic bin / container to collect chips.* Be careful when chipping grape vines, long fibers will wind around the blades.* Blades are easy to sharpen on a whetstone. I noticed slowdown from dull blades every 15 hours.
