The packaging was perfect, everything was included. Tools, screws, power cord, and HDMI cord. Make sure your pick up a DP cord if you don't have one so you are ready to run out of the box.
The settings control panel on the back has been said to be a bit difficult to use, but I have had no issue in using it and find that it is a once and done change for me as once you find a happy medium, you just leave it and change everything else from within the PC itself.
A great buy that I was weary about at first, but will now be coming back for two more to complete my setup!
~ Price is about right. If you don't care much about even brightness or color quality, this is the 4K for you.
~ It's 4K.
~ This is not a specific monitor issue, but even at 4K a 27" display looks a little grainy through Windows 10. The view-able screen is 25.5 x 13.25, so at 3840 x 2160 the DPI is only 163. That is the equivalent of a 1980's Dot Matrix printer, it's ok at best. This is a plus for a cheap 4K monitor, since it's the best you are going to do given today's backwards technology.
Cons:
~Not the monitors fault, but somehthing you should consider before spending ANY money on a 4K monitor is that Windows 10 does NOT support 4K. I attached a screen shot of what I mean (using the Windows 10 native screen rendering engine). Simply put, there is no support whatsoever for 4K monitors, virtually every app is broken in some way, as Windows 10 still doesn't have proper screen rendering. It's almost bad enough to give up on the whole 4K idea until Windows 2030 is released under all-new management.
~ Also not the monitors fault: Within applications (e.g. the tool bars and fonts on a page or in a cell) Windows 10's screen rendering looks absolutely HORRIBLE in 4K. The desktop is rendered in 4K just fine, but applications are annoyingly blurry. This is a known issue with more than one monitor when the monitors do not match resolutions. Since 4K vs 1080P represents a BIG difference, it truly showcases how awful Windows 10 screen rendering really is. There is a third party patch called "Windows 10 DPI fix" that degrades the OS font rendering engine back to Windows 8. Thank God, because it saves the MS Office experience from unusable to full 4K resolution. IT makes the previous issue worse, though. It seems MS broke the rendering engine to try to fix the last one. Woeful.
On to the monitor's major issues:
~ Viewing angle is really poor, half the screen real estate is dark no matter how you move your head around. It's like wearing a splunking headlight on your forehead. I think this would be hard to deal with even without having experienced an real IPS screen.
~ Whites are dingy compared to an 99% sRGB display. My estimate is this monitor has less than 50% of the already-limited sRGB color palette. No amount of fiddling with the settings made whites white, though upping the brightness and contrast to just beyond optimum helps as long as you move your head to view the pixels straight-on. White quality is about 5 out of 10, which also affects all colors.
~ Color is ugly. Maybe even fugly. Fiddling with my laptop's GTX 1050 setting helps, but the color never looks good. The screen is just too low end to be saved.
~ Max brightness is dim. It is about right for a dark room, but it is too dim for daytime viewing.
This monitor does make fonts sharper. Don't expect much more than that. Not recommended for anyone with high standards.

This monitor does make fonts sharper. Don't expect much more than that. Not recommended for anyone with high standards.
The monitor itself does have the same issues and limitations that are associated with the majority of monitors that use LCD technology of any kind such as:
1 - Be sure to set the Aspect Ratio to "Dot by Dot" in the monitor's settings. "Full" is the default setting for the Aspect Ratio.
2 - Set Dynamic Contrast ( a.k.a. "DCR" ) to On - This feature is set to Off by default.
3 - Too much green - This means that when calibrating color by eye / line of sight, the method that we recommend starting with before using a color calibrator, that the color green will finish by having lowest setting compared to the settings' value that will apply to all other colors when setting them manually. NOTE: This is an expected problem that is related solely to LCD technology itself, and is NOT related to the monitor WITH THE EXCEPTION that when setting the colors on THIS MONITOR, just as any other LCD monitor, for the best results it is important to NOT use any color presets and instead set each color value manually before using a color calibrator to obtain the best results.
4 - Once the above is complete, be sure to setup the remaining color values using the Advanced Menu that is based on CMYK (Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black) values using a professional color calibrator tool.
5 - ABOUT THE SPEAKERS - The speakers included in the monitor are pretty much invisible, and while it is a perfect match to the monitor's HDCP v2.2 capability that allows for Audio Decoding Capability to be a feature recognized as available by any devices and content requiring HDCP v2.2 standard, if you're going to have any other audio type running that isn't just a simple Windows or Apple set of sound effects / system sounds, be sure to mute the speakers in the settings, and connect more powerful external speakers to the monitor. NOTE: It is our firm assessment that due to the many applications that actually require HDCP audio, that ALL monitors contain bare minimum integrated speakers and an audio connector port. Remember, when having integrated speakers, you really don't want them to be the greatest speakers available because that makes for a higher cost of the product, so Sceptre really went the extra mile in keeping costs down with integrated speakers that allow for the best compatibility to be available for HDCP audio, but clearly did not intend those same integrated speakers to be present for permanent use. In short, while people may criticize the quality of the integrated speakers, it's important to keep in mind that they're supposed to be of extremely basic quality because that way you're really only paying for the monitor that has the benefit of HDCP audio capability without paying for the integrated speakers that are clearly not a significant part of Sceptre's manufacturing cost either, and that is in all honesty, very crafty and ingenious planning on the part of Sceptre's design team.
We also want to make special note that even having CMYK settings available at all on a monitor of this class is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING because traditionally that specific type of flexibility is reserved for monitors listed as Studio Grade and/or Commercial Grade. In short, this monitor IS a Studio Grade and Commercial Grade monitor that is nothing short of impressive.

USING ALTERNATIVE STANDS
(The Included Stand is Excellent, but Some People May Need to Use an Alternative Stand for Reasons of Their Own):
While the stand that the monitor comes with is great, sturdy, METAL! :D , and solid, we want to also be include some information for people that want or need to use this product in an environment where a different stand is required.
In our case we elected to use the following Universal Swivel TV Stand/ Base Table Top TV Stand for 19 to 39 inch TVs with 90 Degree Swivel, 4 Level Height Adjustable, Heavy Duty Tempered Glass Base, Holds up to 99lbs, HT02B-001 stand:

...and even with the included spacers for this monitor, a right-angle power cord is required. The electrical requirements for this monitor that need to be met are 3Amps and 32Watts. Special Note: We actually called Sceptre about the electrical specifications just to make sure we were going by the latest information, and they were extremely easy to work with, were knowledgeable and knew what we were talking about right away. Such a level of service as we were provided is pretty much unheard of in the IT industry at this time, and we've nothing short of the HIGHEST PRAISE for Sceptre's Support.
We do however recommend NOT contacting Sceptre through its 800-788-2878 phone number, but rather CONTACT Sceptre through its 626-369-3698 phone number instead because for some reason Sceptre's IVR would NOT transfer calls to tech support when using their 800 number and after pressing Option # 3 for tech support, but the 626 phone number worked just fine.
ADVISORY ABOUT IVR's & 800 Number Phone Systems in General: Sceptre's NOT ALONE in having a problematic IVR, and many other companies have similar problems, so please keep that in mind since there's not a lot of choice in the 800 number and IVR marketplace for businesses and organizations needing to setup phone systems for their various departments, and there just aren't any good choices in the 800 number and IVR marketplace for businesses and organizations at this time. In short, this is an issue that reflects on Sceptre's IVR & 800 Number Phone System's Provider, NOT Sceptre itself. For more information about how to reach out to Sceptre that include via E-Mail please review Sceptre's contact information on their website directly by clicking the link at the bottom of the Sceptre website that reads "Contact Us" ; followed by choosing the method of contact that is right for you.
If you're looking for a 4k-UHD monitor that is priced within a Fair Market Value price range, and has studio grade quality for personal or professional use, the Sceptre - 27 Inch IPS Ultra 4K LED Monitor M/N U278W-4000R is not just a great choice, it's the only choice.

On another note, with both monitors I received, the screws for the neck to attach to the monitor would not fit properly leaving the monitor a little wobbly and the screw driver provided would just strip the screws.
Will spend a bit more and get a better quality brand. I have an older Sceptre 24" that was fine so was hoping for the same with this one.
