The quality of the wheel was much higher than I expected! I really liked how the shaft of the motorized wheel was larger than the original, but had the sides smoothed down to still slot into the frame without being able to spin at all! The rest such as the motor controller was average.
Two sets of instructions were included, and neither were specifically for the included controller, so I don't know if it can do regenerative braking or not. The motor controller says "Brakes: Low Level" on it, which sounds like a regen setting. The replacement brake levers graciously fit three fingers on them instead of the originals that only fit two, so braking feels better than before and cut out the motor as they should. I didn't want the Pedal Assist System, so I didn't bother with installing the included hall effect sensor, and it's not needed.
I'm powering this with 84 LG MJ1 18650 lithium ion cells, making a 14S6P 52V 21Ah 1092Wh custom shaped battery using the interlocking caps from Vruzend.com So far I'm estimating the range at 25-30 miles with only light pedaling. 1000 watts is good enough to get my heavy frame up hills with no pedaling needed. When the battery gets low, it feels like the motor controller automatically limits power to keep the voltage from dropping too low, which is perfect.

I now believe that "Brakes: Low Level" refers to the switch in the brake levers pulling to ground when activated, so still no regenerative brakes. I also forgot to say earlier that the wheel did come with a "rim strip" in between the wheel and inner tube, which I have seen other similar kits not including. I added a picture of that.
