Turn on the alarm and wait 20 seconds.
Use a 4 gallon jug of water or 3-one gallon jugs tied together.
Push it from the pool deck at the farthest location from the alarm.
The alarm will sound a couple of seconds after the water action arrives to it.
What if the test doesn't trigger an alarm?
Make sure to locate the pool unit at the center of the pool.
Raise the sensitivity level (e.g from 3 to 4).
If the pool is larger than 20’X40’, it is recommended to use two lifebuoy pool alarm or the newer BCone system with 2 pool units.
Will it work with an automatic cleaner, water features or a pool cover?
Automatic cleaners and water features may cause false alarms.
With small waterfalls System can perform well if pool unit is installed far from the waterfall and sensitivity is adjusted propperly.

When should i replace the battery?
Home Unit battery:
lasts about 1 year and can be easily replaced with standard 9 volt battery.
Pool Unit battery:
lasts up to 3 years and replaced by removing 4 screws, use only compatible 1200mAH Lithium ER9V battery by Lifebuoy or PKCell.
What is the range of the system?
Pool unit can typically be 50’ from the home unit.
Install the home unit on the nearest wall and avoid obstacles between both units to improve range.
When using the app, smartphone should be within 10’ from the home unit to communicate properly.
Using the provided kit, attach the string to the Lifebuoy pool unit. Place the unit in the pool, making
sure the transparent cone is facing down.
Insert the 9V battery into the home unit, as shown. Install the home unit in a dry, easily accessible location that is as close to the pool
Download the LifebuoyAlarm app from the App Store.
Check signal strength, open the app, then press the home unit button. Holding the button down for

The product itself is very compact which is great of you have a smaller pool like me so it doesn't take up much room. The flotation buoy is great at it's job. Doesn't slant or halfway sink.
The alarm is extremely loud. I know they are supposed to be but I wasn't expecting it to sound like a fire alarm went off. Just to give you kind of a grasp our pool is outside in our backyard and when we were doing our test, the neighbor 7 houses down came up almost instantly to see what was going on. That is exactly the type of response I'd hoped for. Not only was I alerted but neighbors were as well. The purpose of the lifebouy is to keep my children/dog safe and I trust it completely.

But then, sadly, the reviews proved true: Now we're getting random false alarms throughout the day and night when the pool is perfectly still (see photo) not a ripple, not a breeze. Which thank God, brought to my attention that it was malfunctioning in other ways too. Aside from the false alarms, it wasn't protecting our pool when we thought it was. I tried turning it off and on, changing the sensitivity, checked the batteries, nothing has worked. It goes from being "ON" to "STANDBY" automatically offering us ZERO protection without us knowing. When it did manage to stay "ON" it failed every test run. We would have to be on top of it splashing for the alarm to sound. SO SCARY and DISAPPOINTING.
LIFE BUOY - If your going to make a product to help prevent drowning, PLEASE make a product that is reliable and that WORKS!!! There are lives at stake here. If GOD FORBID, a child or pet drowns with one of these in the pool, where the family thought it was working and trusted this....?????????? Isn't there a product out there that actually works? It's hard to comprehend why with today's technology and resources, no one can get this right. The app is a whole other story. Crap. You have to be standing next to the unit for it to work.

Top reviews from other countries
App doesn’t seem to want to connect well in our country home location. My initial test seems to work great though!
Not cheap but will provide additional protection.
The indoor unit needs to be placed as close as possible to the pool unit to ensure a good connection, however consider that you will need to access the indoor unit frequently.
I placed the indoor unit high up and close to the ceiling as I didn't want the kids messing with it. As I am tall this is fine for me, but my partner cannot reach it now without standing on a chair, which is an issue due to the frequent nuisance alarms. I am reluctant to lower the unit as it looks better high up but may have to do to the number of nuisance alarms.
The system works as intended as we find the alarm goes off if we go swimming and forget to turn it off.
However, the pool unit is extremely sensitive even on the least sensitive setting, light wind and ripples will trigger the alarm.
Due to the high number of nuisance alarms, sometimes in the middle of the night, we have to turn the unit off whenever the weather is less than perfect which kind of defeats the purpose of the system.
It is therefore a battle between ensuring the system is on and operating and also not dealing with nuisance alarms.
In summary, does it work well? YES, is it a perfect solution? NO. I wouldn't rely on it as a standalone safety device but in addition to a certified fence it serves a purpose.
Just know that it isn't a set and forget device and will need frequent attention.
