Product Description

This dishers is constructed of a fully color-coded polypropylene handle with component parts is made from stainless steel. Handle is ribbed surface and built-in stopper notch to prevent slippage. Handle equipped with Agion antimicrobial protection. Handle construction is a one-piece design with no crevices to collect water or bacteria. Bowl dimensions is exact to insure consistent capacities within 5 percent. Capacities must be clearly stamped on the top side of the gear rack for easy identification, disher number is stamped on the sweep. It is NSF certified. Available in No.8-size, 4-ounce capacity and gray handle. Measures 2-13/16-inch width by 9-9/16-inch height.

    I really like this ice cream scoop. I saw a lot of other options online and in stores that had negative reviews because the triggers are flimsy and break, but this one is very sturdy and strong. It’s a large scoop (4 oz), which is nice. I use it with ice cream straight out of the freezer and as long as you have the strength to push it in, the scoop seems ready and able to get the job done. I also like the deep dome shape. The ice cream presents nicely to company, and it doubles as an egg scoop when I have to drop them into boiling water without cracking them.

    I did some research before I bought this ice cream scoop, because there are so many brands out there and according to the reviews a lot of them do not work properly. I also had difficulty figuring out which size would be best to make the average sized ice cream cone. I finally settled on the grey-handled #8 - 4ounce model. I used the scoop bowl size they provided in inches to figure out which would be the most average size for ice cream. It arrived quickly and well packaged. I have now used it to make 6 ice cream cones. The scoop is easy enough to use (although I wish the handle was shorter for better control). The trigger that releases the ice cream from the scoop is not too hard to push (I am a 64 year old woman and it worked fine for me although the ice cream was not really hard - hard frozen). The grey #8 scoop is the biggest I would suggest to make "normal" ice cream cones. When I first saw it I thought "Wow, I wouldn't want it any bigger". For some reason they don't give recommendations on scoop size (I guess it's subjective) for making cones and there are so many sizes (for cookie baking, melon scooping, etc.) it's mind boggling. Keep in mind that the scoop size goes up the smaller the number. I almost got the white #6 but that would have been WAY too large. The grey #8 makes very generous, picture perfect-looking scoops of ice cream. But, I think I will need to buy the next size smaller down - the tan #10 as well. I believe the tan #10 is probably more like the regular size for cones and ice cream on birthday cake slices and the size you see to buy in stores - as the portion size on the #8 is just a wee bit large for cake (but good for ice cream lovers). Overall I am very happy with this scoop. It's easy to use, cleans up nicely (I hand wash) and provides a big scoop of ice cream. I highly recommend.

    I was looking for a disher the perfect size for making small muffins and meatballs and such in an eggbite mold, but I wasn't sure what size would be best. I'll use it to help see how much smaller of a disher I need to get for my eggbite mold (why does nobody say what size to get for those, as popular as they are?) and, after using it a while to be sure the Vollwrath brand is what I want to stay with, I'll get the smaller size I need, too. When it goes on sale....

    i love this scoop! i bought this specifically to portion pancakes or muffins with ease and it has served its purpose wonderfully thus far. one thing that bugs me is that people refer to these as ice cream scoops, which they are not. levered dishers are meant for use in soft mediums, not frozen ice cream. ice cream will likely break this scoop quickly as that is not the intended use for this.
