I actually bought this stuffy 7 years ago for my now 13 year olds 6th birthday. He loved how much it actually looks like George and once he out grew it he gifted it to his younger brother. George is still kicking with no rips or tears anywhere and this stuffy has been through it.

Exactly the same model my son sadly lost about 5 years ago. My daughter had it first. They both love it so much...I had to get it for our third child. Our 4 month old baby son already likes to play with it...he likes to stick the monkey's feet and hands in his mouth, it is so funny...he also like to fight with it...this Curious George is really cute...I am sure my son will love it for a long time. The other two carried it all over the place. I think the size is special...it also reminds me how big my daughter was when she was born....she was so tiny, just like this special monkey. They love the books and cartoons too!

Update: I am disappointed in the quality of the shirt. It developed tons of little fuzz balls all over the shirt. It did this within a month of receiving and my little one barely even played with him at that point--no washing, etc. Now he sleeps with George every night, and I'm going to have to hand wash him at some point, but worried the shirt will deteriorate further.

Update 2: The shirt is actually still holding up almost 1 year later. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this item again even with the fuzz balls. This quickly became my toddler's favorite thing. The stuffed animal and shirt have been washed now. I removed the shirt before washing and was a little more gentle with it. I hand washed and air dried as the directions said. I used Dreft for the detergent. The stuffed animal came out beautifully. He's a little less fluffy but that was just from all the loving- not the washing!

This is our second George of this kind. This George has become my little guys "lovey". It goes everywhere with him. He absolutely LOVES it so we decided it was time for a twin.

Now his bedtime George is always waiting for him (and can stay clean) while the other George is always ready to go on an adventure. The George's can be swapped out as needed and there is no disruption to his routine.

My son has some signs of a slight sensory disorder and after his OT's recommendation of a "lovey" type item, he seems to have decided that George is it. This George is the perfect size for my toddler to hug and snuggle and it washes and dries nicely in the machine with little wear and stays super soft.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this yet! This stuffy might be the most important purchase I have ever made from amazon. I bought this for my Curious George loving son to give to him on Valentine’s Day when he was one year old. Well, my son turns 6 tomorrow and he still sleeps with George every night! George has been by his side since day one. He’s been loved quite a bit and he doesn’t look like he did when he was new, but he is still holding together well! He washes up nicely in the washing machine, though his stuffing is a little wonky now. I try to give him a good fluff now and then.

My (almost) two year old daughter now loves Curious George, and I am now trying to find a suitable George to give her, though she already has a lovey and a blanky.

First, the facts. This Curious George doll is 16 inches from head to toe. It appears to be well made. The care instructions indicate that it is hand washable in cold water and light on suds. The item is as per the description above.

That's not why I'm giving this Curious George a 5 star review.

The reason for the 5 stars is because our 9 month old daughter loves this Curious George doll. Just loves it. Scream out loud and shriek with joy love.

I bought her this because she loved the Curious George doll I had when I was a baby. As much as I want her to play with my Curious George doll, it's pretty old and the washing instructions have long since faded. Plus, when you beat my Curious George, 30+ years of dust fly out. Not exactly sanitary. He was also pretty thick, so fully submerging him in water might make it worse. I didn't want to submit my dear old faithful friend to that. Instead, I bought my daughter her own Curious George friend.

To get a sense of my daughter's tastes, she's not as interested in any other stuffed animal/toy. She's okay with her lobster and Amazon Gund Holiday Bear. She barely tolerates the teddy bear her aunt bought her. My wife has a bunch of stuffed animals from the UK that she does play with as well. However, she's not excited or overly happy doing it. It's more "oh, this doll has arms/ears/legs, I think I'll see what it tastes like" play.

It is a much different story with this Curious George. When she's playing with her new friend, she laughs so hard it's like she's on the verge of tears. The moment she saw this Curious George doll, she just wouldn't stop staring. She was mesmerized from the beginning. Curious George is easy for her to grab with her hands and drag wherever she needs him to be.

Normally, when she breastfeeds, she drops whatever she is holding at the time. O-ball, teether, stuffed animals, toy cups, whatever. However, with Curious George, she just holds on with both hands. This despite the awkward positioning.

Just seeing the joy Curious George brings to my daughter makes this purchase worth more than 5 stars.

EDIT 8/21/2017: One week in, we've noticed George's shirt rides up his body. It's making him look like he's exposing his belly and chest. I don't think this is an issue. However, we'll keep an eye on our daughter and see if she starts to copy George.

Update 12/12/2017: 4 months later and George's shirt is getting that fuzzy stuff. I don't recall us washing George since we got him, so the fuzzy stuff is from normal everyday use.
